Citarella Gourmet Market – West Village
“Also the current staff behind the meat counter at Citarella is not as customer friendly as the prior employees.”
“Actually, I'd say there's a price premium on pretty much everything you buy here, but everything is also of very high quality.”
“James is one of the reasons I keep coming back to Citarella – he knows fish and keeps the department clean.”

This would be a cross in between Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. The prices still reflect West Village but it was still affordable.
Space wise Citarella is a bit smaller than your regular Whole Foods and Trader Joe's but it was by no means cramp.
They do have a fresh deli for meats and sell sandwiches in those plastic boxes that they make in house daily. I really only come here for the fruit salads but as I come here more often, I have no doubt that the time I spend here would rival that at Whole Foods (3+ hours).
I might need a butler.
FAN.
Great organic grocery store if you're willing to pay much more than you should.
Don't get me wrong, their food is worth it, but it's grossly overpriced. For a bag of 5 cookies its $8.
As for the good side, their chicken noodle soup is to DIE for! Before going gluten free, I use to eat their soup like water. It is not too salty, has fresh vegetables, and large sized noodles.
Their sushi is about $7-10 and you get 9 pieces. It's the best sushi I ever had and wish I could have it everyday. They also had a bottle of gluten free soy sauce which tasted exactly like regular soy sauce.
If their prices were lower, I would have given them 5 stars.
Lapin and I usually visit this supermarket for their fresh bread and harder to find gourmet items. The staff is general nice and helpful. I also like how the lady in the bread section asks if she should slice our bread The supermarket is on the pricer end but it's worth it for some of the items … the basic items that you can find everywhere else I wouldn't get it here.
Instead of just seething at the JC Morton Williams I need to remember that this is absurdly close to the PATH, so it's only a 20-minute weekday trip or merely an hour and a half on weekends.
The produce is in good shape. I've generally been pleased with the Fuji apples and this is one of the few places I've seen blood oranges. I think the fennel is the only item at Citarella in which their price is below average.
The cost rises sharply when you move away from the fruits and vegetables. Don't buy anything without a price tag.
Gazpacho season should be arriving in about four months.
Overpriced as all Citarella's are BUT decent selection.
Lots of hot and cold foods. Salad bar stays fairly well stocked.
Not a big location but it will definitely fit the bill if you're in need. Good selection of produce.
Check out line moves quick but it's hit or miss on the cashier's customer service.
Overall, I love my Citarella. I'll take your overpriced food any day over having to walk further. #lazypeopleproblems
Great staff and the perfect urban selection of small things to nosh on with crackers. Favorites are the chicken salad, chipotle crab dip and roasted carrots! Incredible selection of cheeses, really good bread … Writing this is making me hungry (-;
I was craving for a delicious kale salad with grilled chicken breast, and today I will say this is my salad go to spot !!!! It was all kinds of yummy, everything was fresh all of the options to build my perfect salad was there and I created a lunch time masterpiece !!!!
Cute small grocery store near the PATH station so I could conveniently bring fresh groceries home without too much extra carrying work. They do provide a wide varieties of selections in fruits, bread and even meat and seafood. Definitely my go-to place going forward.
