Tried this place twice in the last few days since it's a new bar that popped up in the area. The first time I went, I got a vodka with club soda. It was really good and was strong, too. However, the second time I went I got a Moscow mule ($13), which is one of my favorite drinks, but this one was not strong at all. I was excited to try it because they make their own ginger beer there, and while it was really good, it just wasn't worth the $13. They're really more of a beer place I think but do have several cocktails available. I wouldn't recommend this one, but if you order a basic drink they seem to do it right. All in all, it's a good place and they have a great selection of beers from various states. The atmosphere is nice but it can get crowded fast as it's a fairly small space. I'll be back for sure but will stick to basic drinks instead of the other cocktails.
This place has a great beer selection. I've been three times and so far they have always had an interesting array of sours, which I love. However, they have plenty of other styles as well.
Service is friendly, although when my beer club went here it was really hard to get a beer. The taps that were most popular seemed to pour slowly and there was only one fully functional bartender so we would have had more beers if we'd been able to get them.
Several people ordered food and they liked it, especialy the tacos.
The space is well designed although when it's hot and the late afternoon sun is pouring through the front windows it can get toasty. It was also weird one time I was there because at 7:30 they turned the lights down so low I thought there had been a power outage. Not sure what that was about but that seemed very weird.
But if you focus on the beer, you'll be happy. This is a decent place and a good addition to the neighborhood.
I came here in group of 8 after a visit to the Press Lounge a few blocks over. Much to our delight, there were plenty of seatings available on a Saturday night around 10pm. This bar is not divey at all, but has more of a wine bar kind of feel that is definitely not pretentious. It is rustic modern with exposed brick walls, tall seating stools, and wooden tables. The crowd appeared to be mostly young professionals.
We ordered a bunch of snacks including the mac & cheese with parmesan crust, guacamole & chips, buffalo wings, mushroom toast with ricotta, and the house-made pretzel & serrano ham. Everything was surprisingly very tasty, but my favorites were the mac & cheese and the mushroom toast. Delish! We had several glasses of the bubbly wine here and thought it was fantastic as well. Unfortunately I did not try any of the craft beers which is what As Is seems to take pride on.
Overall this is a little gem in the neighborhood with not just a large variety of drinks, but also serves great food. The service was okay. The food came out rather quickly but it took them centuries to clear away empty plates. The air conditioner also could have been a little cooler as it was pretty darn hot in there even with it on.
Happy about the newest beer bar in the area! Great selection of beer in a trendy space with plenty of seating.
Kitchen is open till midnight, so was able to order the Short Rib Sandwich ($16) and a cold one ($7). Sandwich comes cut in half with a side of random pickled veggies. Bread is soggy from all the meaty goodness, so the sandwich falls apart after the first bite. Rib is cooked well and blended with a variety of seasoning. Wish the bread was toasted more so I could eat as an actual sandwich (especially with no utensils to grab the meat with). Again, beer selection is very good – ranging from ipas to sours to stouts and the like.
Bartender here is certainly friendly and there is barely anyone inside late on a Tuesday. Take advantage of this spot before the crowds start pouring in.
I loved the ambience! Super woody and dim romantic lights that makes everyone look awesome.. My kind of bar. I think it's a nice addition to Hells Kitchen and if you're a person that loves beer and cool cocktails that come out of a draft handle (I think they do or I was too tipsy and I made that up in my mind) then go here! It was a super laid back crowd and very nice atmosphere. It's not the most spacious environment but if you aren't shy you can share a large table with a couple or friends that you don't know so that you're almost guarenteed a seat. The bartenders were cool and there's a nice sign on the table that says order at the bar which saved me time in wondering where my server was. I didn't try the food but from what I saw with my own two eyes it looked incredible and it also smelled pretty good. I will definitely be back for another Mule that came with a ginger candy!
Will definitely be added to my regular list. We arrived a little after 8 on a Saturday evening. Were initially impressed with the decor. The dim lighting coupled with the wood gave off a very relaxing vibe. Wasn't super crowded at the time however bar was full so we found table seats. Noticed at tables there was a sign inviting you to order your drinks from bar, as they do not have host and the bartenders don't come to tables. So we orders our drinks. First had a very delicious Moscow Mule. Then the stronged abv beer they had. Followed by just about every other beer they had to offer. The place just has that relaxing NYC vibe where your having fun enjoying the music and great company as time flys by. Before we knew it it was 11 and the place was packed. The bartenders were ok they seemed a little overwhelmed with the volume but wait time wasn't bad. This will be added to the regular stops when in Hell's Kitchen. Definitely suggest to give them a try.
Visited this place on Saturday night for the first time following a suggestion from a friend. Immediately fell in love.
First, awesome atmosphere, awesome decor, awesome setup. Place is really cool inside. Low lighting. Rustic wood feel with metal pipes and edison bulbs. Sounds like your typical style beer bar but its not. Its very simple and inviting.
Second, the beer. Wow. Love the setup when i went. They only really had two main breweries that night, and offered a whole line of beers from each. I really like that. Usually you see a million beers from a million breweries but they offered an extensive selection from just two, Half Acre and Other Half. Btw, never seen so many Other Half beers on tap at a bar in new york outside of the other half tasting room. They probably had at least 8 including Flowerz, By & By, Double Mosaic, and Debbie Downer. Also, not just IPAs. They had some gose, kolsch, and lambic selections up there. Loved everything I tried except one which was an IPA with mango and white chocolate accents.
Next, price. All beers were either $6 for a half pour or $8 for a full. I asked the bartender to do a quarter pour, going for maximal selection, and she said they usually don't but that she would be happy to do it for me. Talk about great service. And the price point is very very reasonable. They also do $1 off pours on Fridays. Gonna have to go back on a Friday to take advantage of it.
Overall great experience. Chalk one up for Hells Kitchen beer scene. We got another winner. Will most definitely be returning.
PS. I hope they stick with the few breweries – full line of beers deal. Its not that common anymore which is a shame because I think it helps people learn about a given brewery's dynamic offerings as opposed to offering a single beer by each brewery which causes people to pass judgement just based off of that single beer interaction.
