  1. Decent coffee. Great mocha and hot chocolate. Very clean. Not many seats, but good arrangement.

  2. Really glad I discovered this place.
Adorable cafe, Italian espresso at its best, and friendly service – this place makes me feel like I'm back in Italy!

They have some delicious looking pastries which I may have to try next time (unfortunately mostly out by 6pm), and the machine for Italian hot chocolate which looks delicious.  Great selection of teas as well, and the price was quite reasonable.

Wifi and plugs available, although unfortunately the wifi only works for an hour.  Will be back and look forward to a return visit!

    Hungry Kat, approved.

  3. Everything is $2 right now! That's cause everything is garbage.

I ordered a cappuccino and this is what j got. (See photo) it tasted like burnt milk. I was confused at first because that ain't a cappuccino. That milk like fluid substance wouldn't even pass for coffee in Ohio. Carrot cake was a mound of greasy sugar. I threw them both out and went to Rex.

Here's where I say, but the people were nice… Except they weren't. Two awful, tasteless girls at the counter barking away.
There are too many amazing local gems to pick from to spend a second of my life in this sheets gas station.
Seriously, the whole place looks like a sad holiday inn trying to pass as a neighborhood cafe. It looks, smells, and feels like a motel lobby. As someone who lives across the street I'm pissed. This is NOT the NYC that I love. First a seven 11 on the block, now this shit hole straight out of a suburban nightmare.

Get the fuck outa here. New Yorkers are no bullshit, we value good coffee and authenticity.

  4. These guys just opened and the store is much more interesting than the prior inhabitant (scaffolding and a "Coming Soon" sign). It's a really big place with big windows and you see lots of pastries, tables, cold brew on tap and no prices.

The cold brew is right around $5, so that's not ideal, and it's above average but not great. If you're trying to hang out in a nice place it's probably good for that (note: I was not trying to hang out in a nice place). If you're trying to grab a quick coffee, there are better spots around (like Joe's) within a block or so.

  5. I used a $8 credit from LevelUp at this new location of Filicori Zecchini, however it was useless because I wasn't even given part of my order.

I ordered the following: a almond croissant, a canele, and a banana walnut loaf slice and took it home with me.  I didn't check the bag at the store which is partly my fault, I guess, but people don't usually forget to put something you purchased into your bag that you're taking home.  So I paid $10.45 (well, minus 8 bucks) for a single canele and a single almond croissant.  Ruff ruff.

Regardless of this hiccup, the staff at FZ were extremely friendly and we even chatted it up about their origins.  They have a bunch of staff from eastern Europe, though it is an Italian shop.  It's also a franchise, I found out.

The canele was delicious – crispy on outside and soft on the inside.  It went well with a cup of tea at home.  Almond croissant hit the sweet spot.

Did not get to try their coffee since it was close to 8pm and I wanted to sleep tonight, but may have to go back and try it (and maybe get my banana bread back? haha).  They did have me sample their hot chocolate which was delicious, but then I was turned off when they told me it was powder.  Hmm.

Staff are really nice here and the pastries are good, but I can't give full stars when I wasn't even given something I paid for!  Dang it I wanted that banana bread!

  6. In my first day of wandering the big city, I was looking for a cafe to grab a bite before a workout. I noticed that here had a sign outside for a promotion with everything being $2, in terms of food. I grabbed a granola, which was good, thick yogurt but the granola was slightly different to what I'm used too!

The staff were really friendly, the toilets were clean and there was plenty of plugs to charge your phone.

After wandering more, I did find this to be what looks like a local chain.
