I'd been stalking pictures on this place on Instagram for some time now and finally got around to trying it! It was a long trek but definitely worth it (in my opinion!). I had my eye on the birthday cake truffles, which come in a three pack and were out of this world. If you like anything birthday cake, you'll certainly love these!
The cookies were tried were good too—not incredible but certainly tasty. I'd like to try their ice cream in the warmer weather as it seems to be a hit. They also have a package for $16 where you can get a few of the top items (ice cream, truffles, crack pie and a cookie) for one price. Not a bad deal!
Tip: if you check in on yelp, you can get a free cookie with a bun and drink purchase!
I don't get the hype of this place. My first time trying Momofuku. I heard SO much about it, everyone raves about it so of course I had to try when I stumbled upon it in Brooklyn after dinner.
We got Compost cookie, Chocolate Chip Marshmellow Corn Crisp Cookie, & Dulce De Leche milk shake. …. I just…didn't like any of it. Like, nothing tasted good. The cookies which were deemed their most popular, just tasted weird and dry and hard. I did not like the ingredients at all. The milk shake was ….gritty and weird. I guess it had cereal in it too? Again, weird and not tasty.
For the price that I paid, I did not think it provided the right value. Customer service was pretty bad… the people behind the counter didn't really want to answer my questions and were very curt with me. Overall very disappointed.
Whenever I say Momofuku, I always sing its name in my head like 'Amadeus.' So I was pretty excited to actually go to one and impress them with my rendition.
The day that I went, I set my alarm early. I was off work for the weekend and trying to figure out what I should do while in Philadelphia.
You read that correctly. I was in Philly, two hours away. But we Yelpers will go to great lengths for food.
I get in the car and the first thing I hear on the radio is that a BLIZZARD is heading into New York. Like, they made it sound like a big deal, and when New Yorkers sound worried, I feel like my west coast sensibility should triply kick in.
I'm halfway to Brooklyn when I notice a lot of cars on the freeway heading in the opposite direction and all I can think is, 'Well, that's just more cookies for me.' I drive faster.
Parking was surprisingly easy. Into Momofuku I go (Momofuku MomoFUKU!) and it's just me and the barista. I decided not to sing to her because singing to only one person would be weird. I order a latte and two cookies: the lemon cookie and the famous Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow cookie…and when the cookies are handed to me…they're wrapped in individual cellophane and were as cold as ice. They had just been taken out of the refrigerator.
I dunno. I assumed that they were fresh-baked in-house daily and that being early I could warm my cold hands with them but alas, that wasn't the case. I take a bite out of the lemon cookie and it's okay. I take a bite out of the Cornflake cookie and it's pretty good. Cold, but good. Unfortunately the latte was not very good so I didn't finish it.
Out I go. Two cold half-eaten cookies shoved in my pockets, I head back. 15 minutes into the drive, I see a grey-white wall of snowstorm heading my way and all I can think of is…where I'm going to get my chicken Philly Cheesesteak sandwich.
Excellent chain location right outside of the Carroll Street subway station (F and G lines).
They even have a restroom with neat Momofuku wall designs. There are plenty of tables and chairs (more than the Williamsburg and LES locations) and maintain a clean environment. The seating has both tables with chairs and bar-like seating.
There are no alcoholic shakes available here but their quality of food is still great. I love the cereal milkshake and cereal milk ice cream soft serve with cornflakes. If you order the coffee shake, expect it to be more bitter than sweet. The staff is friendly, and create the concoctions quickly.
Most of the time they will greet you as you leave, which adds a nice touch!
Legally addictive crack, I mean cake. 😉
I don't know how they fit so much goodness into the chocolate malt cake truffles, but I just can't get enough of them! I try to slowly savor them one by one, but instead I seem to devour them immediately wishing I had bought one more package.
The chocolate malt cake is equally delicious. I had it for my birthday last year and I can't wait to order it again for my birthday this year. SO good. Will be my go to birthday cake every year. I wish they sold it by the slice so that I could eat it throughout the year, but I guess maybe it's a good thing they don't (for my waist line). 🙂
Went here after a Yelp elite event and it was the perfect late night snack! The cereal milk ice cream is the best! I also tried Karlie's Kookies , aka, KLOSSIES. It was absolutely delicious!
They were about 5 minutes from closing but very friendly with us about coming in so late. Definitely going to come back here!
When I visit NY, this is my stop. I always ask the mister if we can make a quick trip to the city so I can buy some cookies to take home for my family. My nephews love them, and because I'm such an awesome aunt, I'll go the distance to get them! All thanks to the mister for driving me there 🙂
Besides, it's right next to where his friends live, so we get to see some friends and get some yumminess.
The last time I was there, the girl at the counter was super funny and nice. She had a great attitude and she knew how to strike up a conversation. After I bought two dozen assorted cookies, she ended up giving me a few crack pies they were about to throw out. Not that they were bad, but they weren't a fresh batch and they were a day old. I have never had crack pie, so it was a real treat to try some.
Can't wait to go back again 🙂
You MUST get the Crack Pie. You must do it. It's so delicious!!!!
Also big fan of the compost cookies and bagel bombs. Though the last time I got a cookie it tastes really stale. This location is muuuuch bigger than the one by union square. I personally find it odd that they sell "cereal milk" and "cereal milk mix" which I think is honestly just crushed cereal that you put in milk. You can do that on your own time.
Not the point.
Get the crack pie.
