  1. I had a Virgin America flight back to Los Angeles, and wanted to grab food.  Nearby my gate was a Coffee/ Panini place (meh!) and a Ruby Tuesday (meh!).  The food to go from Ruby didn't look appealing, and then I spotted this kiosk.

The sandwich selection was plentiful, and some even kosher.  After standing there for about 5 minutes, I narrowed it down to the "Cuban" sandwich, and a Chicken pesto. I picked up 2 salads for my friends, a bag of chips, and a water.  I wasn't expecting the total to be cheap, but at $49 it wasn't as bad as I thought.

My Chicken pesto was pretty tasty.  It was a bit dry (so stop at the condiment counter for mayo, mustard or whatever) but it did the job and went great with my kettle chips.

Stephen said the Cuban wasn't bad.  It was not a "real" Cuban (and I never thought it would taste like one) but it did the job.

I probably would suggest looking at the expire date.  Fortunately mine was dated April 1, and I took this flight on March 30.

  2. I get that prices (for everything) in airport terminals are insane. That doesn't bother me. If I cared enough about the price gouging, I wouldn't spend $2.30+ on a Coke and I'd use the water fountains.

What I do care about is not getting a mouthful of sadness when I spend $2.30+ on a Coke.

When I took my first sip, my tastebuds were immediately hit with a liquid that was: (a) flat, (b) sour, and (c) horrible in every sense.

Because I wasn't in a rush to get on a plane at that particular moment, I was able to walk back to the register, hand the bottle to the clerk, and tell her I wanted a new one. She looked at me like I was crazy until I pointed at the date on the bottle, which was four months past its expiration. She took a good hard look, and responded with a "… Yeah. Okay, here's one that isn't expired." She was nice about it at least.

Moral of the Story: Not Market Fresh. They're selling old stuff. Check the expiration dates; if you end up buying something right before rushing on to a plane, you're likely to take a swig/bite of something that should have gone in the trash (but didn't) and you can't do anything to remedy it at that point.
