  1. As far as smoothies go, this place is pretty good, though a bit overpriced.

I was in a rush to get to my train on time but was really craving a smoothie so we stopped by here.  I ordered the Rasmanian devil, which was pretty good.  It was a decent size and tasted pretty good and really hit the spot.  Service is good and the selections are fine, though maybe not as varied as Jamba Juice or Robeks Juice.  Yes, it's a little pricey, but so are most other smoothie places.

I think I'll be back again for smoothies when I am next in New York City.  It's quite convenient for me, since it's in Penn station.

  2. Like others have said, they don't use fresh fruits/veggies for the smoothies. Those shown up front on display may be for the juices, but I'm not sure.

Sugar OVERLOAD for sure. My drink ( i looked it up after the fact) had approx. 47 grams of sugar… and it was just berries and "yogurt." Would've preferred a light option.

I grabbed my drink, took a few sips and a few steps out of the door and saw Jamba and was soooo bummed I hadn't seen it before I stopped here. C'est la vie.

$4.95 for a small, which was a typical "medium" cup at most places, so not not terrible price-wise. They were also quick to make items.

Taste was good (better have been for 340+ cals and all that sugar), but this is more of a "cheat"/"treat" and I'd rather waste that on a Dough donut or Levain cookie — ijs.

  3. I just wanted to say, the 'small' at this place is triple would it should be, lol

It was fine for me, I got away cheaply, but it sure was a lot of sugar that I ingested

  4. I got a Kiwi Kazi.  I mean I know smoothies are loaded with sugar (fructose, hopefully) but this tastes ridiculous.  It's like liquified ice cream mixed with honey (or more likely the artificially made counterparts of these).  I asked the manager twice for the ingredients which are apparently:

"Fruit and ice, that's it, no added sugar"

Yes that's why it's thick, and tastes like liquified ice cream dipped in molasses.

I expect fruit + ice to taste like the stuff I make at home using actual fruit + ice, or the kind of smoothie I can get at a non-chain smoothie cafe in Manhattan where they don't lie about their ingredients.

Planet Smoothie keeps their ingredients secret which to me just means dead bugs (see Starbucks case), high fructose corn syrup, and worse.

I mean selling liquified ice cream is fine with me. Just label it as such, so I don't have to be tricked into buying then throwing it away. The sign says this drink has 200 some calories.  I think they missed a leading one there.

Avoid unless you are fine drinking 100 grams of sugar + God knows what other artificial ingredients as your meal replacement.

  5. I had a delicious Vinnie del Rocco smoothie (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, orange sherbert). $4.50 for a small, but worth it.

  6. An okay smoothie place. I had their berry smoothie and found it ordinary. But a good place for people in the transit.

  7. I ordered the Vinnie del Rocco (raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, orange sherbet) which cost $4.50 for a small which looked more like a medium to me. I loved how they categorized the smoothies by benefit (ex. wellness, energy, weight loss, etc.) You can also create your own smoothie which I found to very fair and affordable. Fast and efficient service. My drink was really delicious and naturally sweet. If I'm ever in the neighborhood, I'd probably visit again.

  8. The smoothies are good, and are convenient when you have to catch a train in 6 minutes and don't want to wait on line at Au Bon Pan for a sammy. I grabbed the Kiwi Kazi which, while really good, was SO sweet. I felt a little sick after about half.

I mean, quite honestly if you're a diabetic or bordering diabetic, just call the paramedics as you're placing your order because this stuff will send your system into sugar shock. Looking at the nutrition facts, some of the smoothies have 120 grams of sugar. That's like three cans of sodas worth. That's just ridiculous!

However, the medium is $6.95 and is HUGE. And it stored nicely in the fridge. It tasted better in the morning I think. Also, they sell kettle corn popcorn (Ziggy's brand). I got the Buffalo flavor and it was quite tasty. Planet Smoothie is good for a once-in-awhile thing, but this isn't really a "healthy" option.
