Got the lemon poppyseed macaron and the white chocolate pecan cookie (I believe there were even more ingredients in this that I forgot). Macaron texture and taste were spot on, although they are less tall/wide (?) as macarons from other places… Cookie was pretty disappointed. Didn't taste sweet at all and was kind of hard… But amazing atmosphere really made up for it. Insane insane amounts of natural lighting, it is like the place is begging for you to take pictures in it. Great afternoon date spot if you can find an amazing enough guy to take you here and out order you on the brightly colored collection they have here at Woops.
Visual appealing. Everything looks and sounds delicious. However, some looks can be deceiving. I got the thick red velvet cookie. It was crunchy on the outside and cake like on the inside with a very thin cream cheese filling. The cookie ($3.75) was very bland, I felt cheated for the wasted unhealthy calorie intake. The flavors of the macaroons sounds absolutely heavenly. I got a rose, peanut butter, Lavender chocolate, coconut, cookie & cream old fashion vanilla. The textures of the macaroons were on point but it was too sweet.
Woops! deserves all of the exclamation marks that are in its name … plus more. After careful consideration I'm giving them four !!!!.
! – for the shop itself. Absolutely lovely décor. Walls of white subway tiles, petite café tables and chairs, twinkle lights. So lovely.
Another ! for its staff. The gent working the night I went in was charming and great about engaging in conversation with visitors
And of course a couple !! for the macarons themselves:
– Pistachio! – delightfully nutty.
– Passion Fruit! – slightly sweet, a bit tart, all around excellent.
– Chocolate Lavender! and Rose! were both fabulously fragrant without tasting like a flower. I loved both of them!
– Peanut Butter! was a little disappointing. It wasn't as peanut buttery as I had wished; I'm not convinced there was much peanut butter in there at all.
– Old Fashioned Vanilla! was lovely. Soft cookie, rich vanilla. I wish there was a bit more filling but overall the mac was lovely.
– Old Fashioned Nutella! – I'm torn on this one. I've had this variety twice… the first one was so so sooo good. The cookie was so soft, and the nutella generous … it was like eating a little sugary nutella donut. And because I loved it so much the first time I ordered another my most recent trip and was so sad to find so little nutella filling. I'm hoping that consistency isn't an issue with Woops!
Very much looking forward to my next visit.
This cafe opened recently so stopped by for lunch. I ordered two macarons, one rose and another lavender chocolate. Ordered mozzarella sandwich.
Decor was really cute and inviting, has about 8 small tables and relaxing environment to stop for coffee or lunch.
Food was ok but not anything great. They were near and pretty displayed but mozz sandwich was just ok, ended up not finishing. And the Macarons were too soft in texture. not chewy but soggy.
I am sucker for sweets! New place opened up and I had to go in. To my surprise they had macaroons…ooooohhhhlalalala
Thing is you can't just get them anywhere and if they have them, doesn't mean they are any good. I bought a pistachio and nutella macaroon. I also tried their giant oatmeal and raisin cookies. Macaroons were ok. They tasted fresh and soft but not overly tasty like others I've had. Nothing to rave about. The cookie was interesting. It had a hard core and once you bite into it, the inside was soft and sort of cookie doughy tasting. It also had a combination of large sugar/salty crystals that added to the crunch outer core appeal. I wasn't a fan of the hard cookie but I did like the crystals that gave the cookie a sweet and salty after taste. It was different and out of the ordinary. In summary I think both items require you to be in the mood for them. I won't be running there for them but once in a while they will peak my interest. I will try something different in the future and update my review accordingly.
The interior does not look like it involved woops! decisions! Tiles, plants, colors, and spacing make me think that this is where a hippie dudette and a finance dude fall in love.
– Iced coffee –
It's not starbucks-burnt or tasty (as if made from fresh single-origin grounds), but did I mention this place is cute?
– Almond croissant –
It's not buttery and the almond paste is subtle or bland (depending on your interpretation), and it was a pleasure eating it at a cute table near a cute window.
– Alfajors –
The last time I had an alfajors was in Santa Monica, CA. Can't find these anywhere!
– Prices –
Contrary to some other reviews, prices of pastries and drinks are average for any metro — $3 for iced coffee and $2-3 for croissants and scones, for instance. I think coffee is more expensive in Minneapolis and SF.
– Emptiness –
No one else was here on a Sunday morning at 10:30 AM.
