(I don't get it, why is this place a triple dollar sign? It's not that expensive…)
Anywho, this place is AMAZING! I love it! I work at a high school nearby and for the longest time I've been packing lunches. BUT NO MORE. Some of my fellow teachers had been taking the five minute trek during breaks to get food from this place and I had always been skeptical when they said that it was called Sheridan "Market." I mean, market food just has a negative connotation. However, I decided to go one day when all of my co-teachers decided to take a trip there to grab lunch.
Oh god, I have not seen such a beautifully delicious hot bar buffet in a long time. I mean, I'm a huge fan of Golden Corral and Hometown Buffet (and albeit they're actually different types of restaurants), but this place was clean and the food looked fresh! They have a WIDE selection, going from grilled salmon and tilapia to beef brisket and mixed vegetables to honey chicken and fried wings to teriyaki beef and cajun shrimp pasta. The selection is really really impressive!
I've tried a whole bunch of stuff. I had a Shrimp Alfredo pasta once and the Cajun shrimp penne, and both were very good! The pasta was cooked just right and the sauces were so savory! The Beef steak was a little on the dry side, but the skirt steak and beef brisket were both spot on. The only complaint I'd have with the meats is that the box is really small, so using a fork and knife in their to-go containers is actually pretty difficult (I always have to eat the meat last so all the other foods don't get smushed). The salmon steak was also really good, considering that I normally dislike grilled/baked seafood. Also had this breaded chicken cutlet in some butter sauce and that is probably my favorite dish here.
The main lackluster part of Sheridan's hot buffet would be their Asian food section. While they do have a ton of variety, most of which I have not tried, the honey chicken and "popcorn fried" chicken were pretty dry and unspectacular. But all of it looks really good!
I can't say much for the rest of the market, though their cupcakes selections looks pretty diverse and delicious. I've been going to the gym with fervor recently, so I'm keeping my fingers away from sweets.
One tricky thing about the pricing for the hot buffet: If you get any of the fish dishes, then they will charge you 9.99 (or 8.99, I forget) instead of the normal $6.99, EVEN IF THE MAJORITY OF YOUR DISH IS NOT FISH. So if you plan on getting salmon and mashed potatoes and some chicken wings, ask for them in separate containers!
Anyway, anyone who works around concourse village know that Sheridan Market is the place to be, especially for lunch.
(Also, side note, one of my coworkers ordered a custom sandwich the other day and now they've started selling it pre-made! She was super excited to see it being sold today).
I always come here for breakfast/lunch whenever i'm around the area for work (family court). I love the fact that they have a wide variety of foods, fast check out process and the food has always been good!! I can honestly say i've never ever had something bad tasting or i did not like. They make omelettes, pancakes/french toast, sandwiches, muffins and cakes/goodies at the glass counter. They also make coffee very well.. Never messed up on what i want in my coffee. For lunch they have the lunch buffet which varies from day to day w fish, meats, veggies, pastas, rice, etc. They also have pizzas, salads and makes other sandwiches/burgers. Definitely a place to hit up when ure around the area. They do have seatings in the back but its crazy packed during lunch time, but not too sure abt the morning since i'm always on the run!
So they've been open about a month now and the lunch time crowds are insane! Come before 1pm to avoid the lines. The lunch buffet is pretty good in terms of selection and it's fresh and pretty tasty. The pizzas are also really good. I tried the stuffed pizza and it was really filling! They also have a great salad bar and deli. The only complaint I have is they need more cashiers to speed up the transactions. But it's definitely a welcome addition to the area.
I work across from this place so I eat here about 2-3 times a week.
Hot Buffet: The food is pretty good, specially the salmon and skirt steak. The Spanish rice and paella are also tasty; for some reason the mixed veggies are always too salty. I don't like that they charge you more if you have seafood, yes I know it is more expensive, but wth, just because I have one small piece of salmon you decide to charge me and extra $1 per pound? But you are not taking into account the fact the rest of the food is not seafood, so I am paying seafood price for the rice and veggies as well, not fair!
Salad: Don't like it, they don't have enough toppings and it is overpriced, if you are looking for a good salad, go to Nadal's up the block.
Sandwich: Decent, although the breads can be hard some times.
Pizza: Good, love the artichoke spinach, but $3.50 for a slice? Am I in the Bronx or Midtown?
Service: Very good and everyone is very friendly.
Overall I like the food I just wish their prices were a bit cheaper, just because you are by the courts doesn't mean everyone is on a judge or lawyer salary.
Glad to have found a place in the area to grab a healthy salad from instead of being coerced into eating fast food.
My spinach salad with their spicy chicken and 5 veggie toppings (they have red beets…yum!) came out to $5.99 with tax! I was really quite surprised and was expecting to pay closer to $8. The man who rung up was super nice too. Awesomo! (Also check out Cintron's pineapple ginger green tea by the refreshments. Haven't seen it anywhere else.)
Buffet food was really good, they are just a little expensive. Also very small seating area.
Their salmon was delicious so if you ever find yourself in the area go get that!
BEST DELI EVER (that I've found so far in the yankee stadium area)
Clean, spacious, friendly service, copious eating.
Hot buffet with a great selection that rivals whole foods (coming to the bronx?)
Great gourmet sandwiches at an unbeatable price 5-7$.
Fresh quality salad ingredients.
Deli grocery selection is premium with electic drinks and a vast selection of kettle chip brands :)))).
Overall: I eat here almost everyday now. Still need to try the pizza which looks killer, brick oven spotted in the back.
