Mmm, delicious! My boyfriend and I ordered desserts from FP Patisserie in the shops downstairs at the Plaza Hotel. There are a wide variety of selections at this place and the stand exudes a warm, homey smell.
I ordered the Saint Germain (Raspberry mousse, raspberry ganache, vanilla bean pound cake, vanilla mousse, and strawberry macaron). It was fantastic and very fresh! My bf ordered something of the dark chocolate variety and was equally as satisfied.
The only reason I'm docking a star is that there really are no great seating options and the area was very chaotic. There is hardly even any space to stand to enjoy your food. You really do have to take the food to go, which can be hard to do when it's 30 degrees outside. Other than that, this bakery was impressive!
There is nothing wrong with a little bubbly in the afternoon – especially when it comes in the form of a pastry. Raspberry Champagne Macaron, my friends. Absolutely delicious!
I wanted to get sometime nice for my buddies at the office and was at the Plaza Food Hall, and instead of doing Lady M, I decided to take a look at F P Patisserie.
There mini cakes, pastries and other items where a lot like Maison Kayser, they have croissant, pain au chocolat, sugar brioche, raisin scone, cinnamon roll Pastries, Tarts & Cookies, fresh sandwiches, salads and they have macarons too which sounded like a good idea for me to get.
I told the counter person I want about 8 macarons and he proceeded to get a paper bag. I ask him about all the nice Hermes colored boxes and he said I need to buy more to get it boxed. OK maybe I'm a snob or something but I want my buddies to be picking from a box and not digging into a bag. The Minimum was 12 macarons at $30 so that what I did. The flavor selection is decent but small so I picked the Salted Caramel, Pistachio, Raspberry Lychee, Passion Fruit, Vanilla bean.
They were all good with the Pistachio getting top honors from my crew but I could not taste Lychee in the Raspberry Lychee. Now not that these are best macarons in new York but they make the top five list for me
They sell really cute chocolate bunnies during Easter's so come quick and get them before they are gone! Wish they could have smaller size ones coz I could never finish those big animals lol.
I came on a Friday morning but there are already lots of people inside the food court; however lines were pretty short.
Macaroons are soft and delightful . I was craving macaroons and stumbled upon this place at the plaza food court and boy am I glad . 6 macaroons $15
3.5 stars.
Review is just based on the Marcaron Doughnut and the two free macarons that I got from Marcaron Day. I got the black n' white marcaron here and the strawberry & cream marcaron from a nearby Francois Payard Bakery in Columbus Circle. You only had two choices and I guess that all FP Patisseries or Francois Payard Bakeries were only giving out the black n' white or the strawberry & cream marcarons.
The Marcaron Doughnut was $5 and proceeds made during Marcaron Day will go to charity. It's an interesting pastry creation and it's just a marcaron shaped like a doughnut. I didn't eat the top and bottom part together at once since the bottom part of the macaron was hard to cut through with a butter knife. I ate the top part with the filling and then the bottom part. I actually was second guessing myself if the bottom part was even edible since it was so bland! LOL! My friend also got the Marcaron Doughnut but from Francois Payard Bakery. He said that he and his wife liked it. I thought it was OK and I guess mine was made by a different baker or something.
The two free macarons were good. I didn't have any clear favorites between the two choices. Overall, the Marcaron Doughnut and two free marcarons were OK.
Tried the casis violet on macaron day… Thought it was an interesting and tasty macaron! The filling was sweet and light.
Thought it was the best of the macarons in the Plaza Food Court.
This review is based purely on the 'Cassis Violet' macaron. It was the best macaron that I have ever tasted. I felt like I could smell flowers as I got to the centre and ate it. Amazing.
