“Ah I never knew a PBLT could taste so good, especially combined with the mighty forces of dripping egg yolk.”
“The rest of the menu looked really good as well and I'm looking forward to trying dishes like their Turducken and Foie Gras sliders.”
“I'm a fan of Hell Gate Social, so naturally when I heard that the owner was opening a new restaurant on 30th Avenue I had to try it.”

Great brunch! I've had two very pleasant meals here on weekend mornings. Though I haven't indulged in this yet, all meals include a brunch cocktail which is pretty awesome. Both times I've come, the staff has been very kind and attentive and the playlist has been on point (think chill alt rock while you relax and enjoy your iced coffee). The eggs benny is an interesting twist on a classic, with deep fried poached eggs and pork belly for the meat. Delicious albeit a little heavy! My dining companions and I have all enjoyed the homefries, which we agree are always a sign of a well-done brunch and a restaurant that knows what it's doing. While good experiences, both brunches were pretty standard and William Hallet hasn't completely *wowed* me yet. I look forward to getting a better sense of their menu and food. Curious to return for dinner or drinks, as the bar is nice and I'm sure the vibe and food are different too!
I've been here so many times I'm surprised I've only reviewing it until now.
My brother is a regular here so it's easy to come to this place when I'm in the neighborhood. I used to live in the area and can honestly say this place is one of the places I miss coming to regularly in the short time I lived in Astoria.
The beef tartare is hands down my fave dish and the burger comes on a close second.
The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is cool, and the neighborhood is fun. Hands down the establishment in the area.
Been here twice so far and it's not a bad place.
The most recent time I was here for drinks with a friend. I ordered a salad and it was delicious – I don't recall which one I ordered but absolutely recommend it. My friend ordered Mac and cheese and was not completely sold on it but said it was pretty good.
As for drinks we both had wine and that was good.
Pricing here is reasonable.
The atmosphere is nice but both times I've been here it's not too busy. I know that there's plenty of indoor seating and a bar, but not sure if there is any outside seating – I haven't noticed.
I would like this bar probably more if we didn't collectively harbor horribly biased reasons for now hating the establishment for mostly personal reasons. BUT, the food and drinks here are actually pretty quality! The atmosphere – nice. I like the antiquated wall paper. It gives off a very old British homey vibe. Also, this is where Steph P. established her undying love for Sam Adams Cream Stout (which is surprisingly hard to find in any other bar or in grocery stores/bodegas, trust me, I've searched).
I came here two or three times though probably in the dead of winter or late fall to finish up our Queens beer books. Nice selection of beers on tap and bottle. Also, interesting cocktails that regularly change. I think my friend's fiance had a mint julep last we were in. Food is pretty top notch. I've tried the hush puppies that are served with crack sauce. I love when hush puppies are a little bit spicy and not made with chunks of corn. They made them right. I've tried the mac and cheese. It's okay. It's about a 4 star macaroni. Cheesy and bubbly on top. Made with mozzarella, fontina, and the holy grail of cheeses gruyere that makes the dish. It's a tiny portion for $12 is the problem. I split it with someone which worked out only because I wasn't starving. Fries are thick cut and well seasoned. I've glimpsed what they can do with their brunch from my friends going there at one point. Their rough night out burger is ridiculous – in that this sucker extends like at least a foot high from the table with enormous crunchy onion rings, a fried egg, bacon, half a pound of beef and huge pillows of toasted brioche. Another item I've heard exclaim over is their turducken meatloaf sandwich, which I have never tried but it intrigues the hell out of me.
I don't want to dislike this place, because there are so many things likable for the bar. Great food, nice beer, solid drinks, cozy atmosphere. . . . But I still secretly dislike them inside.
This place was A-okay. The brunch menu for Sunday brunch was very small and felt limited. The best thing about this place was the free drink with your entrée (so 1 mimosa or 1 bloody mary — or coffee…or OJ.) The food was still spectacular. Our group ordered everything. Country fried steak, crab cake benedict, French toast, salad, and the Hallet benedict. I ordered the Hallet. It was pretty amazing. It was my first time having the fried poached egg this way and it has certainly changed my life. I want to come back for more! The drinks were small but enough for a small Sunday brunch. They stop at 4, so be there before then!
Came here for a nice leisurely Sunday brunch with my fiancée. We were in the area to checkout potential apartments and was feeling a bite hungry.
After a little searching we came across this adorable little bar eatery. We saw the past pictures and how it was made to look like bobs burgers and figured this would be a quirky place to eat.
It was a crowded establishment by the time we arrived around 3pm so we opted to sit outside which was slightly colder then normal but was enjoyable non the less. We were asked if we desired to move inside once a few seats opened up but it was to nice a day to pass up.
My fiancée ordered a Chopped salad and I ordered the country steak meal. Mine came with grits, eggs, country steak and a biscuit.
Both meals were enjoyable and came with either an orange juice, Bloody Mary or mimosa for free, however, mine I felt was under seasoned and required a little bit more salt and pepper to give it that extra pop.
The server was attentive and quick to bring us what we needed.
I'd be happy to try this place again in the future as everything else was satisfactory except that small seasoning issue.
Stopped by here for a late night snack and drink with the BF. Not sure why the rating is mediocre, because this place is great! We had the mac and Cheese, which is one of the best I've tried in Astoria. They have a great selection of draft beers, and their cocktails are awesome. I had the Morphine which was delicious. we only had the late night menu, but I have tried the mussels here before and they are outstanding. I love the Thai Mussels, which were recently brought back!
William Hallet stole my heart because: Bob's Burgers.
Any business willing to transform into one of my favorite TV shows has my business for life. My friends and I came here for their Halloween party and we had so much fun. The themed food and drink menu was on point and the staff dressed as the characters was amazing.
I ordered the Sweet Chili O' Mine off their Halloween menu and it was delicious! My friends got the The Final Krautdown which they also found delicious. The mixed drinks were also super yummy!
Beyond the fun theme and good food- what stood out the most was their impeccable service. When standing at the bar- the bartenders were constantly looking for the next person to serve, and even called out for orders if it seemed like everyone was already served. The bar was packed and having this attitude about getting people served fast and often is the way to do business. In addition- they were super friendly. Basically it was my dream bar. I can't wait to go back soon.
P.S. Can it be Bob's Burgers night every night?!
