The Ellington

“Much nicer ambiance than most of the other restaurant/bars in the area and the outdoor seating is definitely a plus.”

“I've already recommended Ellington's to some friends and looking forward, myself, to returning…maybe for a Sunday brunch!”

“Fun spot in UWS, nice b/c it's not another college bar on Amsterdam.”

  1. Very nice people working here. We came on a game night and they didn't hesitate to reserve a table for 10 for us!
Were extremely friendly. Food good, can't complain. Nothing crazy amazing but its a good place to go to. Clean, good atmosphere.
It was very near our hostel on 103 so very convenient.

  2. Any time I walk into a dimly lit NYC bar I automatically expect NYC prices on both the beer and food.

The Ellington impressed me with its very affordable list of beers and bar snacks. The cocktails looked great but I did not try any on this visit. One of my friends had two Apple Cider Mimosas and loved them.

The side of sweet potato fries was plenty to share between 3 people. Their chicken nachos were delicious and exactly what I was craving.

The atmosphere was very chill and relaxed on a Tuesday night which was lovely. The service at the bar was also attentive and pleasant. I can't wait to bring more friends with me!

  3. Great spot to go for lunch in upper west side!
Their lunch specials ($13) include one entree and one drink of your choice: house wine or beer.
I ordered the mta sandwich and asked to switch the drink to ginger ale.
The portion was huge and my dish came with generous portion of fries.
All the ingredients mashed so well together, and I was utterly impressed with my sandwich.
I would definitely come back for the lunch specials and try different items on the menu.

  4. Nice spot for drinks after work. Staff was super friendly atmosphere not too loud and perfect for small get togethers. I had the grilled cheese bites which were the absolute best lol. I would definitely return

  5. I love when a restaurant includes salads on their brunch menu, and I had a surprisingly fresh and delicious one (which of course included prosciutto and warmed goat cheese because it's brunch) plus a mimosa and coffee for under $20, which never happens these days. I was dining solo and sat at the bar, but it seems like this is a good option for a brunch spot for locals – I saw a number of people waiting to sit down and plenty of dishes passed that looked great. I'm not sure of the next time I'll be in the neighborhood but I will return!

  6. Ellington is an elegant, rustic-chic tavern that serves elevated pub dishes and drinks.  Nice interior with exposed bricks, lots of large windows, beautiful wooden tables and mismatched chairs (which I love), old ceiling that is more of an art, and the lighting fixtures are really nice too.

They have nice size sidewalk seating as well. The staffs are inviting and accommodating, and servers are polite and professional.

The food is quite delicious, well made, especially the grilled cheese bite was great! Some of the dish was a bit too pricey, otherwise, I would've given another star.

  7. I recently order delivery from The Ellington and I was pleasantly supervised.  The chicken tenders were hand breaded and of high quality.  The fish and chips were also tasty and everything was delivered nice and hot.  Good portion sizes.  I will definitely order again.

  8. I came here for the first time in a long while. This used to be my stomping grounds, and I miss the area. When I'm back, I go to my old haunts.
Get the bison burger. It's solid.
Tonight I had the house salad because I needed something simple. It did the job. The addition of walnuts was great and blended well with the cheese. Only problem was too much onion.
The Ellington is not just a place to go for a casual salad. You can actually make a great birthday party or other occasion here.
    Good ambiance. Always friendly service.
