  1. Great restaurant!! Beautiful food and ambiance -unusual for the area!! The grilled octopus and caesar salad were great appetizers,  the sunny side up egg was a great addition to the Caesar! I also loved the tuna tar tar. The tuna was very fresh and avocado was sliced on top! I also tried the burger with bacon which was delicious and it comes with Parmesan truffle fries. I will definitely be coming back and trying the dessert next time.

  2. I came here the other week on a date, and had been here a few times before. The Oak Room is a little gem in the small town of Sea Cliff. The inside of the restaurant is charming it is hip and modern well still providing a rustic and romantic ambiance. They have a bar area if you are just looking for a more casual experience of just a quick drink. The restaurant is also quite small so if you are planning on making the trip I would recommend making a reservation or calling before you leave. Some weekends they also have a live musician which is a nice addition to a dinner.

The service is quick and attentive always making sure you are fully satisfied. The owners are also quite nice and every time I have been they, one of them has been there interacting with customers and overseeing the business.

Now to the drinks and food, they now offer a Moscow mule which is quite delicious. If you are a fan of ginger beer I highly recommend.

To start I had the grilled romaine Caesar salad. It was delicious and a huge portion, having the romaine slightly grilled added an interesting element. My date had the frisée and watercress with lardon and a poached egg. I had a bite of it and it was delicious!

For my meal I had the salmon with crispy skin. The salmon was cooked exactly the way I asked for it and melted in my mouth. It was the perfect portion and the skin was perfectly crispy. It was in a red wine sauce with various sautéed mushrooms and fingerling potatoes. The combination together was a win.

For dessert we shared the apple crumble. Again the perfect portion size. The only negative about the dessert was that they left the skin on which created a tough element to the apple. Overall a delicious meal with a romantic ambiance.

  3. Sea Cliff has always had a special place for my wife and I as I proposed to her on the beach there.  So it was an appropriate setting for our wedding anniversary dinner.  Located on the main drag in Sea Cliff, the Oak Room Tavern is situated on what becomes a quiet drag on an early Friday afternoon.  The excellent Yelp reviews and the equally as interesting menu were the reason we made reservations.  We decided to dine on their little patio area.  Again Sea Cliff Ave was very quiet on this day so that made it nice.  The weather was excellent too as a nice breeze was felt during dinner.

The service is top notch.  Our hostess was friendly and made us feel welcomed.  Our waiter was attentive and polite.  As for the food, well they had a special for artisian cheeses and crackers, so we took them up on that.  It was an excellent start.  I ordered the gin Soutside and it was the perfect drink to sip on that evening.  For our main course with both got the Kansas City steak.  Yeah, we were both in the mood for it and we didn't want to share any of it! The steak was seasoned so good with the chimichurri sauce and cooked medium.  To cap this wonderful night, we split the key lime pie.  It was nice and tarty with freshly grated key lime on it.  We will be happy to come back and try the interior dining area and bar.

  4. I have a thing for pretty places and the Oak Room Tavern didn't disappoint. It's rustic and classic with a very cozy feel.

Kale salad was amazing and had duck as an entree. Mind you, I'm picky with how my duck is cooked so when I tell you that it was perfect, I mean PERFECT.

Craft beers tickle my fancy and this place doesn't let you down. I mean, it is a pub after all.

Either way, the oak room's definitely not another fancy shmancy place. It's well worth the $ and you'll leave happy.

  5. Easy Chief plays here once a month, and since the food at Oak Room Tavern is so good, this is our new once-a-month "don't miss"!  Both times we've gone we've met really nice people sitting near us (seating is cozy) and they hadn't heard of this band but ended up staying and certainly didn't regret it! Both times we saw people around us ordering more food just so they didn't feel guilty lingering into the second set. If you haven't heard them, you should come to the Oak Room and check out this LI treasure-a smoking hot band with a really diverse musical repertoire, and as a bonus, this a great place to hear them (super fun crowd) but I highly recommend you find out what time they're playing and make a reservation for just after they are supposed to begin so that you can really enjoy the whole experience. The owners are really nice and accommodating and every meal we've had has been great-from burgers to scallops, you can't go wrong! Reasonably priced for the live music component too.

  6. My good friends live in this cute little hamlet and took me to this romantic, quaint restaurant. It would fit in perfectly in Carmel. We sat outside, chatted with the friendly host, and had a beautiful meal. My grapefruit salad, and monkfish were perfect – lick your plate goodness. I'm a huge fan!

  7. I came here this past Sunday for the second time for brunch. (I have only been here for Sunday brunch.)  A friend of mine is in love with this place so she took me here for my birthday last month.  I really enjoyed the food so I decided to share the love by inviting two other friends here.

We made a reservation, but at 12:30 on Sunday it seems that most of the brunch crowd has already left so there were plenty of table options.

My first time here for brunch I had a chef special item off the menu. This time I had the Eggs Florentine (their version of an eggs benedict) and added smoked salmon.  Delicious!  I love eggs benedict and they did it justice.

Can't go wrong with the brunch cocktails!

I just wish they had non-dairy option instead of milk.  If so I would have loved a coffee after my meal.
