Dutch Kills Centraal

“As for cocktail bars go, these are probably some of the best ones in Queens.”

“I love deviled eggs and this place is no exception, their fries are also quite scrumptious.”

“We enjoyed the attentive service by waiters who clearly love the product, the delicious european-american fusion food, the classic soul, jazz and roots music, and the relaxed vibe.”

  1. Came in for a quick lunch, order the burger on a wheat sliced bread as i do not like brioche. Had the sweet potato fries and a beer. Not a bad meal, meat was slightly cooked more than i like, the sweet potato fries were tasty and done well. However, service is slow for the lunch crowd in a hurry. Overall not a bad spot, many beer choices on tap and by the bottle. Will come back and try other items on menu.

  2. Dutch Kills Centraal is a part of the changes that have been happening to LIC in recent years. When it is done right, you get something you can experience here – a new place with a modern menu, innovative cocktails and local beers that also embraces the past by restoring many of the classic features of this space.

Besides all that I have two other words "Happy Hour", which I liked very much with half priced mostly local beers offered on tap. I came in a bit after 5pm with some time to kill until I had to be at another event nearby. Since I knew I would be eating elsewhere shortly, I did not order anything to eat on this occasion, but I must say all the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious.

The bartender and staff here are quite friendly as well, which made me feel right at home. I never felt rushed or unwelcome as I sat and slowly enjoyed the beers that I ordered. In fact I felt extremely at ease as we joked and made conversation. I also watched as many locals and people that worked in the area stopped in for a drink or a quick bite at the bar. I wish this was a place near where I lived!

I look forward to returning to enjoy a full meal here in an area that has been increasingly building up to have so much to offer. Although I can't find fault with anything I experienced here I hesitate giving a 5 star review at this point until I try the food.

  3. One of those places where everybody knows your name. Limited but exquisite menu. Good friendly service and The kind of place you'll feel comfortable being at. Outside seating a nice plus, but there is also room to find a nice quiet corner. The menu changes often with a few staples to keep you coming back. Try it you will not be disappointed.

  4. This little neighborhood gem was a great find by our good friends. They stayed across the street at the Hilton Home2 earlier this year and wanted to go back. It is a cute, rustic, bar with decent food. Kelly, our waitress was very personable. The place has a high top community table in the center of the room. There are tables around the perimeter of the room with some bench seats on the wall side.

We made it in time for the bar specials which were $5 a drink. Eh. I like a very light colored Cosmo with citron vodka, it was served looking like a red punch. I asked Kelly to bring me a lighter one the next round, and the next one came even darker. I wasn't even feeling a buzz.

We tried the deviled eggs which were amazing! I would not ordinarily order them but I highly recommend. Worth a try!

There were 4 in our party, 3 ordered the burgers, and I ordered the Portobello Mushroom sandwich. All 4 dishes came with delicious fries and a side of spicy mayo.

For dessert we had the ice cream cookie sandwiches. One molasses cookie with pumpkin ice cream and one red velvet with cream cheese ice cream. The flavors were distinct and blended very nicely. Absolutely devine! MUST try!

It is what it is. A nice neighborhood bar with decent food. I should have tried the beer, my cocktail was sub par, hence only 4 stars. I look forward to my weekend cocktail so it was dissappointing.  Very, very convenient if staying at 2homes suites across the street.

  5. I ordered a chicken breast sandwich with fries for breakfast and it was good. I never visit the place in the night but it looks cool.

  6. Came back here with a friend about a month or so ago and I'm glad I did! I ordered the burger this time and it was fantastic. High quality ingredients, well prepared. Still great local beer choices on tap. My go-to place in this part of LIC.

  7. Dutch Kills Centraal is an unassuming little bar from the outside, but the inside is cozy mix of rustic and contemporary and their menu is a niche genre unto itself. They have a pretty decent cocktail menu, but their beer menu is restricted to bottles and mostly local brews.

I decided I wanted a light dinner due to the the walk to a friend's apt nearby and it was bitterly cold for early March. I ordered the Frisée salad, which was perfectly tossed in the house vinaigrette and dressed with delicious pears on the side. I paired this with a Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner and it was a match made in gastronomical heaven!  I ended up going heavy when I discovered they offer house-made gourmet ice cream sandwiches. They have a very impressive array and I am not sure exactly which one I got, I just remember it had decadent dark chocolate and rum flavored something or other. In any case, it was what most desserts should aspire to in terms of absolute satisfaction!

The best part is, aside from a great ambiance and gracious service,  it was not badly priced either. With tax and tip thrown in, I walked out of there for about $20, thoroughly satiated and warm!

  8. I've been here once for brunch and had a pleasant time. No issue trekking over and found that there was plentiful seating to be had on a weekend morning — which is a relief from those blown out, crazy energy brunch spots all over the city.

    Service was super attentive.

Food was great — full of flavor and prepared well.

No complaints. If you find yourself in Long Island City and are looking to indulge in brunch, put this one near the top of your list and give it a shot.
