  1. Food was ok, average burger with fries. Surprisingly they had Austrian beer (Stiegl).
Service was also ok, but a bit slow.
What I didn't like was the freezing AC and the fact I had a sore throat when I came out, because I had to scream the whole time because of the loud music.

  2. Came here on a Pulsd deal – $29 for a brunch entree and unlimited drinks (which includes well drinks, mimosas, bellinis, bloody marys, house wine, and select drafts).

It was empty on a Saturday at 1, which made me wonder what I got myself into buying the deal. But the experience overall was really pleasant. The good wasn't great, but the service was. Plus at $29 for two people, how can I really complain?

I had the breakfast quesadilla, which comes with a salad and some (soggy) home fries. It was alright. The description said it was supposed to come with bacon but instead, it came with maple sausage, which I wasn't a fan of. My boyfriend had a breakfast burrito, which had pretty similar ingredients – he enjoyed it.

The drinks are acceptable. It's what you would expect from one of these boozy brunch places. If you're gonna do a champagne drink, get the mimosa instead of a bellini. I wanted a bloody mary but they ran out of the mix. The boozy brunch limits you to 90 minutes but we were there for almost two hours and even gave us one last drink when we paid the bill. I guess maybe because it was empty?

I don't think I would come here again without a deal since I didn't really like my dish. I wouldn't mind coming by for happy hour though – they have a lot of different beers. Plus, they have skee-ball and hoops in the back!

  3. First stop of our impromptu pub crawl where i enjoyed a local craft beer call Pork Slap Pale Ale which was delicious. Its a rather large space for a beer bar, and it looks like they have skee ball tournaments in the back on occasions.

  4. It's hard for an establishment that offers both a ton of beer AND skee ball not to earn my permanent ardor, but Holland House managed to pull off the trick.  It just has the weirdest vibe (or at least it did on a Friday night) – the loud pulsing music and sleek, cold, modern decor of a dance club combined with the dozens of TVs tuned to all 8 ESPNs and drink selection of a sports bar.  And to be honest, given the number of beer options available, the selection was relatively generic, especially the bottled options.  The draft beer selection was better, but why have "up-to-date" electronic displays that only show name and price and don't add more information, such as when the kegs were tapped, etc.

Perhaps it was just a bad mix – I was out with a few friends in from out of town, just looking for a place to have some quality beers and catch up, and the music/ambiance was too loud to have a nice chat.  But it felt like a bar that hasn't quite found its identity, or is struggling to be a bit of everything, masquerading as a craft beer bar.

  5. Went to this place after hearing of their good beer selection. Not many people on a Tuesday evening, so got a spot at the bar easily.

Happy hour includes $4 drafts – ordered a Uinta Black lager along with the Grilled Cheese w/fries ($13). The bread is sliced thick and is easy to hold, though I felt the ratio of bread-to-cheese was way more towards the bread side. This threw off the flavor and couldn't get that cheesiness I wanted from the sandwich. The fries were also thick-cut, which I really liked. Added a little bit of salt to go with the ketchup.

Favorable location for a bar. The beer selection is massive, yet I found most of the beers to be pretty generic. Might come back.

  6. Currently sitting in the restaurant. There are 4 tables ordering food and about 10 people sitting at the bar. In 45 mins, we were only served our orders of soup. The waiter also advised that they ran out of burgers and eggs. WTF!? AWFUL SERVICE and restaurant. I would never come back here. I can't imagine how bad the service would be if this place was packed. 1 star is for the soup that actually tasted good.

  7. Such a fun place! Great for dates! I asked the bartender for a recommendation on what to drink and she asked me a few questions and brought out 3 beer samples. To any person who is an IPA snob.. you will be in heaven! The imported beer list is endless. I didn't eat there. But, everything they brought out looked really good! I noticed they have a great happy hour menu too! I'm definitely giving this place a strong recommendation!

  8. Came in randomly when my buddy was visiting town. "Holland House" looked intriguing and mysterious from the outside, especially with promises of infinite beers the world over, but when we got inside the giant space, I was a bit disappointed to find a gargantuan Midtown happy hour convention hall.

With TV paneling the walls behind the mile-long, "L"-shaped bar, and beer fridges stocking mostly lower to mid-range beers, it has the ambiance of a baseball stadium "beers from around the world" counter. Selection was disappointing, with mostly lower-tier, mass-distribution "craft" beer and an array of boring familiar beers masquerading as a large selection. Still, even beer snobs will find one or two brews to keep them contented.

The server was friendly and we took advantage of the table buzzer that calls them over (first world luxuries). Food was decent, and my instinct tells me to stick with the sandwiches and pub fare over pricier entrees. I think there were also bar games like skee-ball toward the back.

Overall, a decent new after-work drinking space…a fairly anonymous sports bar in a beer bar's clothing.
