Great food and service….
I've been to this restaurant a few times in the last ten years. It has been a place to stop when traveling from New Jersey, through Staten Island and onto Long Island, since it's right off the Verrazano Bridge, Lily Pond Road exit.
It appears to be an older home converted to restaurant. I don't know the true history of the building, but many larger homes on Staten Island are historic. There was a time when wealthy people summered on the island, escaping the New York City heat.
The food here is excellent. We've often had authentic Italian dishes including seafood. We have been very happy with every meal and the reason we have returned.
On our most recent visit, we were a group on a bus tour of Staten Island. As a group we had three choices for dinner, so I could not order the more adventurous Italian dishes that I would normally order with family. Just the same, everyone enjoyed their selection. I had the salmon with sides of green beans, carrots and roasted potatoes. The salmon and vegetables were cooked perfectly.
Since it was a group, we all had a salad with homemade balsamic dressing, and "penne a la vodka" that was perfectly prepared, not too creamy. I heard no complaints from the group as the food and service were excellent.
I'm not giving it a 5th star since the decor and maintenance of the restaurant needs to be updated and improved. Don't expect a fancy place. This is more like going to grandma's for dinner. The food is the main attraction here!
Get their risotto! Absolutely delicious! The decor is nothing amazing, but it feels very homey. The owner is great & genuinely concerned with your likes and dislikes. Staff is just as great. Really a hidden gem on Staten Island!
