Good place for brunch. There wasn't anything amazing about it. The servers were good, decor is interesting. I do want to come here for the comedy shows & music.
This is a place that is easy to miss because of the location but it's worth your time, it's spacious inside and has an interesting ambiance, we came here for brunch and they do offer a bottomless brunch, brunch is from 11-4 on weekends and I was shocked when we walked in on a Sunday's at 1pm and it was relatively empty, the food itself was great! I had Black Forest ham egg Benedict that came with some home fries and salad, it was very tasty and we all had a great experience, the bill came out and it was less than $20 pp with tip for a group of 6 so I think that's awesome
On opening night, I watched a totally goth girl do a a strip tease on the bar that ended with her cutting herself and pulling a rosary out of her vagina. That was pretty impressive, I suppose. Since then, however, it's pretty much a regular bar (with a great patio in the warm weather, and good eclectic blend of people). They do have the regular "circus of dreams" or whatever, which is a burlesque type show, and you may catch some occasional bizzare shit, slightly less noteworthy than opening night, buy still pretty – bizarre. The problem is the master of ceremonies is insufferable – he's like a hipster gilbert gottfried. It's just about not worth it. I hear they serve food now, but having seen a woman cut herself to bleeding and pull something out of her vagina on the very surface you are supposed to eat on, I'm not sure how interested I am in their food….
Also, last time I was in there the guy charged me six dollars for a drink, I gave him a twenty, and he gave me 13.00 change. I didn't say anything because I would have tipped him the dollar anyway. It could have been an honest mistake, but I doubt I'll go back.

"her bizarre dresses and outrageous hairdos"
I hate to be the Bad Guy, which is why I only write reviews for the sh!t I like!
But this place has changed my mind…well actually no.
Bizarre is great. It took a few trips for me to fully love it but, now I am fully converted. I must say that my opinion on the establishment is partially based on the existing area. With punk flea markets, cafe's, thrift stores, Norbert's Pizza….by association this place would work.
It's large, comfy, non pretentious bar with beautiful light from all the windows, private little nooks that allow you to chill on victorian red velvet couches, a stage for cabaret and shows, a lower level for gallery events to fill your art needs.
The brunch is great, the staff is on point and the endless one hour mimosas for brunch make this a go to!
My recent at Bizarre was just that… bizarre.
I've meaning to hit up brunch here for awhile since it's not too far from home and has a very cool atmosphere. There's high ceilings, dark/religious Mexican folk art hanging from the bar, a velvet cushioned booth, a stage and tons of seating options.
What I didn't like was the pricing. I am by a big fan of places that have all food items a la carte. I don't want to order a side of fries. I want the fries to come other my $13 meal. I'm pescatarian and love BBQ sauce ironically. The Tempeh BBQ sandwich with slaw was a must! But I did have to give in and order a $5 side of fries. Yikes!
Unlimited mimosas were listed to one hour for $10. I didn't want to ask if that meant starting from when I order or when the first mimosa goes down. Sydney was our waitress and she was truly the best part! She was so sweet and always kept an eye that our mimosas were refilled consistently. I am happy to report that I got well worth my mimosa fill in the hour.
When my food arrived the fries were on the plate and I was starving. My brother ordered a fried chicken sandwich that came with fries but they were nowhere to be found. We got a different waitress to assist and she didn't even realize it came with fries. Eventually the fries arrived. The food was not something to put on your to do list. But I will stick to grabbing drinks and maybe checking out some burlesque in the future.
I will have to mention there was incredible photography show from Meryl Meisler in the basement awhile ago. The photography was all taken in Bushwick in the seventies when it was still unique and dangerous. I loved all of it!
Side note: the unisex bathroom is covered in mirrors and the disco ball is a fun addition
The rating would be 3 on pricing for the food you get but it went up to four for atmosphere and our waitress Sydney!
Pretty into this place. Saw my boyfriends band play here and it's a nice venue and in a cool location. The bartender was a total dick to me though, which is why it's missing one star.
We had a great out of town "hipster brunch" here last Sunday. A place like this in Toronto would be packed to the rafters and filled with pretension so we were pleasantly surprised when they seated us right away.
My girlfriend has the eggs Benny which had the option of coming with fried chicken and I got the pork belly with grits. So rich but soooo tasty. Everything was melt in the mouth good.
The chef came out and asked how everything was. He seemed a little stoned but was super friendly. Great place!
Cute spot. I went for a benefit, and the space is huge and open, with a fun, random assortment of Virgin Mary statues, eclectic lamps, mannequin legs, and calaveras. Definitely a high waisted pants and bike punx spot, which is fun.
The bartender was an absolute slowpoke. And $3 for a soda seemed high. But I would definitely return.
