Mrs. Kim’s
“Their pork buns are essentially thick slabs of glazed fatty pork, sitting in a fluffy pot-holder of dough with a bit of cilantro and not much else.”
“Great bloody marys and our "go to" meal is the hangover stew and the kim chee bi bim bap (which is definitely my "last meal" choice).”
“Everything I had was amazing, especially the steamed buns and the spicy rice cakes.”

Excellent Korean-American fusion restaurant with a chill modern vibe.
My dining companion for this meal brought us here on the strength of their Brussels sprouts, which were nothing short of dope. First of all, roasted Brussels sprouts are amazing; top them with fresh, crisp apples and then slather them in miso butter (yes, it is as good as it sounds) and you have perfection. I also very much enjoyed their bibimbap with tofu (safe for vegetarians), which wasn't very different from bibimbap I've had elsewhere, though it did seem to have more vegetables. My friend, the omnivore, loved their hangover stew and despite being very hungry, had plenty leftover because the portions were so generous. We also explored their drink menu – he had a very gingery dark and stormy, and I enjoyed their soju cocktail, which was surprisingly served in a pint glass so turned out to be a great deal.
We were here for dinner on a Sunday night, so it was perhaps quieter than usual, but we loved the relaxed yet modern atmosphere. The service was friendly, attentive, and helpful with recommendations. I'm certainly planning on returning, especially for those Brussels sprouts!
Really fun spot in increasingly trendy BK. I went here with a few friends, and not only was the pricey super reasonable, the whole vibe was super hip and casual. Mrs. Kim is Korean with a Brooklyn downtown hip trendy twist.
Do not pass up on the Kimchee bloody mary, but be prepared for SPICEY!
I had the bimbimbop which was super delicious. I'm not sure Mrs. Kim's would cause me to leave Manhattan but if you want to visit friends out in BK or live in the hood, definitely check out this joint.
One of my Go-to spots for lunch/drunch. They've got a Malbec for $6 a glass that really does the trick.
The menu serves up standard American fare (salads, burger, eggs benedict) alongside some Korean deliciousness! I love the Hangover Stew and the bibimbop is perfect for a winter or fall day. The steamed buns and kimchi are tasty and perfect for sharing. An entree and drink will run you around $20, but you'll be full for the rest of the day. The rice dishes and stews are pretty hearty.
They've got outdoor seating during the warmer months of the year and I've never seen them not-packed during the brunch hours.
Surprised this place only has 3 stars. Love their mixed fusion menu. There is something for everyone. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. I was craving brunch, while hubby was craving more of an entree. During summer the whole restaurant is opened up so you feel like you're outside even if you're inside. We got a table out on the sidewalk and I has the crab cake Benedict while he had the chicken bibimbap. I thought the portion size for my meal was huge and it was absolutely delicious. The crab cake tasted like it might have come out of the freezer but mixed with the eggs and hollandaise it was spot on. I can only hope they improve on their crab cake in the future, but then again this is supposed to be a Korean joint.
My husband loved his meal. It was super fresh and flavorful, came out sizzling! I will definitely be trying it out another day.
Despite it's cute location and eclectic menu Mrs Kim's was pretty dead for a Saturday afternoon which had me worried at first. But it definitely earned it's 4 stars and I look forward to coming back.
This is almost like a Korean diner.
Casual breezy non-descript atmosphere with outdoor seating. The menu includes everything from Korean food to cheeeseburgers.
I had a Korean rice bowl and it was delish (though slightly Americanized).
I will definitely go back next time I'm in the neighborhood.
Rainy days are always my favorite for restaurant hopping. You can sneak into some great spots without worrying about the usual crowds!
I came here for lunch with my boyfriend and we really enjoyed our experience. Since it was raining, and a slightly unusual time, we got to sit right where we wanted.
I'm certainly not an expert when it comes to Korean food, but the Kimchi Bibimbap and Korean Rice Bowl were both delicious and filling. I can't speak to their authenticity, but they had good flavor at the very least.
Our waiter was incredible! It may have been because we were the only customers, but he was extremely friendly, attentive, and even offered up some suggestions for other spots to try when he found out we were not NYC natives.
I'm a bit surprised with some of the other reviews for this spot. Keep in mind, Mrs. Kim's is "Korean Fusion" so the dishes are meant to have some unique twists to them. I recommend trying it out for yourself. You may have as good a time as we did!
This place is finally coming back around… I feel like the resturant has its ups and downs.. It's amazing for a couple months and then winter time comes around and it has a down fall!
Yesterday everything was on point!! The dirty martinis were made to perfection– the olives were delicious as well!
There was a decent amount of people and the bar tender/server was great with being on top of everything!
We got the pork buns, iceberg salad and bibimbap!!! Everything was delicious!!
Must go!!! Mrs. Kim is back on point don't miss it
I came here yesterday with my husband for happy hour, figuring it would be fast, cheap and enjoyable considering it was lovely out and tables were available outside.
We walked in and asked the bartender/waitress if happy hour was also served at the tables. Some restaurants only have happy hour while seated at the bar, I figured it was a valid question. She said yes, happy hour was for the whole restaurant and told us to sit down wherever we liked.
Another table was seated at the same time as us, right next to us. For some reason this woman didn't want to serve us. We received menus at the same time as the table next to us, but she proceeded to take their order and serve them drinks before even asking us what we wanted. We waited 15 minutes before she finally came over to ask us what we wanted. I was ready to leave at this point, but we waited this long might as well try it out.
At this point, happy hour was basically over. She managed to get the damn order for 2 glasses of wine, a small plate and a large plate in before 7pm. She then waited 10 MINUTES to serve us our glasses of wine. She proceeded to put away silverware and chat with the staff rather than pour two glasses of freaking wine. What is your problem, lady? We didn't do a single thing to deserve such poor service. We almost got up and left it was that bad. She kept looking at us and just doing her own thing, what the hell.
We finally got our wine and then about 1 minute later the food was served. The food was not that great, especially for the price. The pork buns were so fatty. The sauce was good, but it was basically a heart attack waiting to happen. The bibimbap was flavorless and we were surprised that that beef served with this was just cooked, bland ground beef. We had to throw a ton of salt and hot sauce on it to make it edible.
I would come back here again to try the food again if the service wasn't so horrible. She was quick to give us our check at least. Didn't ask if we wanted anything else. Perhaps she just wanted to scare off business so she didn't have to actually do anything besides sit there and look forlorn.
Either way, avoid this place. There are a million places nearby that are 100 times better. No wonder it's always so empty when I pass by.
