  1. Came here on a week night around 6:30 PM and it was completely empty. Sat in a nice table in the back of the restaurant. A positive about this place is they have a variety of what you can order from. I ordered a half dozen oysters from the East coast as my appetizer. They had good flavor but a few of them had a little sand/pieces of the shell which is never a good thing when eating these. For my entree I ordered the Port Wine Braised Filet Mignon Tips. I though the dish was pretty good. The steak was cooked nicely and I'm a sucker for Gorgonzola cheese which is basically what turned me onto this dish. A few people at my table however order meat where it wasn't cooked to their liking.

I'm originally from Bergen County so when I go home for a weekend I wouldn't have a problem with coming back. Let's just hope everything is cooked to our liking this time.

  2. I LIKE BACARI GRILL

    There – I said it.

It's good.  Service was excellent and very attentive without being annoying.  Ambiance was very good.

    Food – excellent.

App – we split a dozen oysters (yay for having kumamoto) and we split the tuna app (which was excellent although the black sesame seeds were out of place)

They had some good looking steaks on the menu but I was afraid …  so I ordered a macaroni dish and it was much better than I anticipated.   I forgot what my bf ordered (sorry)  but he loved it.

For dessert he ordered the sundae – I had a bite or 2.  Very good.

    I would def go back.

  3. Simply fabulous!  Been here three times in the past year for dinner & enjoyed every meal immensely!  My husband & I like to sit at the bar because usually when we decide to go here it's a last minute on a Saturday night & if you want a table you will wind up waiting because it's such a popular place.  The wine pour is generous & whatever wine it is is delicious!  The Bacari salad is great to start with & the crab cake appetizer is excellent.  Farfalle entree is terrific entree.  The menu has a great choice of options from steak to seafood to pizza to even sushi.  I haven't tried the sushi but I've seen many people get it & it looks fantastic.  Desserts are so good!  The place has a warm atmosphere & the service is always spot on.   Definitely a special place to go to!

  4. Great upscale restaurant for a quiet neighborhood. Food is always excellent and the presentation is mouthwatering. Can get a bit noisy for my taste but I hear that is the in thing now. They offer a great space for bridal and baby showers. I've attended both there and the space they provided to the party was very generous! I love their daily sushi special the most. Great place for lunch and dinner!

  5. My boyfriend, his mother and I came here last night for an early mothers day meal and omg was it delicious.

We arrived around 6:25pm and the place was already packed. We placed our names and had to wait about 30 mins. Seating is very limited for people waiting and I felt like a bit of an inconvenience, not to mention good luck getting a seat at the bar that was jam packed too. After waiting we were finally seating at a beautiful table near the back section of the restaurant. Our waitress was so sweet and a pleasure to have, I wish I remembered her name but she was awesome. We ordered up our drinks (martini for mama, glass of white zin for me and a captain and coke for my love) my glass of wine was huge and had me feeling nice.

For appetizers we decided on the mussels, crabmeat and shrimp spring rolls, and half a dozen oysters (blue point). The mussels were my favorite and so flavorful with pieces of chorizo for a nice added kick not to mention that delicious garlic bread for dunking. Highly recommend those! The shrimp and crab spring rolls weren't my favorite but after I took out the pepper that was inside I enjoyed it more. The oysters were fresh and delicious (my second ever oyster experience) my boyfriend complained of some she'll pieces but hey I always check before slurping them back.

For our main entrees we ordered the colossal shrimp for me, chicken Milanese for the bf and momma got halibut cheeks.. Yes I said cheeks. My shrimp were definitely colossal and had a delicious scampi butter on top along with roasted potatoes and sautéed spinach. Absolutely delicious and didn't leave me feeling heavy. My boyfriend really enjoyed his chicken Milanese but said he wished the chicken was a little bit thinner. Momma seemed to really enjoy her halibut, I snagged a little bite and it was delicious with a soft texture.

We ordered up another round of drinks as we looked over the dessert menu. We decided to split the banana bread pudding and I'm happy we decided to split one bc it was quite large.

My overall experience were was excellent and I absolutely can't wait to come back!

  6. Fun delightful restaurant with good food, attentive service and lively decor.
We were told that while they do take reservations, they do not take them for Sat night unless your party is larger than 4. We were told the wait would not be too long. The bustling and vibrant bar area certainly made our wait palatable. However, I'd be remiss if I failed to mention that their beer selection is subpar and inadequate. Throw in an IPA, perhaps a real stout or a porter. Just disappointing in what was an otherwise decent bar, complete with a smattering of TVs airing local sports.
The dining area is quite pretty, with nice spacing between tables. Comfortable chairs and not overly loud.
I loved the menu. It would be tough for most not to find something to their liking. They even offer a vast antipasto selection that I'm sure could be turned into a meal for vegetarians. Steaks/chops, pasta, seafood, pizza, even sushi. I enjoyed a sushi roll Ap that was on par with most local Japanese restaurants. I also loved my seafood special, an Asian style sea bass and scallop combo in a miso broth with bok choy. A fellow diner ordered a fillet, cooked spot on to order.  It looked delicious, and he seemed quite pleased. Even our side of asparagus was cooked perfectly.
We went with the layer cake for dessert. Nice flavor though too rich for my taste. I must admit the cake was decadent, and a single slice is more than enough for 2, and likely enough for 4–with the exception of bigger eaters.
Service was smooth and efficient. We were checked on thoroughly, water glasses refilled constantly, plates cleared efficiently, etc.
I felt bad for the coat check girl. Ironically, the coat room was freezing cold!  She claimed that the heat had failed recently. All those coats and no warmth…
Even the valet was efficient. I doubt we waited 3 minutes for our car after dinner.

  7. Attended a catered events in the back room and it was fantastic. The food was delicious especially the carving station and the salads. The servers and waiters were attentive and efficient.  They were almost exclusively of Hispanic descent. No workers of African descent  that I noticed on the outside of the kitchen. One other patrons in the facility was of African descent. I had my share of eyeballs on me tonight as an African-American woman. Good Ole Bergen County.  That aside, the bathroom facilities were exceptional. The valet service was top-notch.  Beware that if you arrive near the dinner hour, they will not seat you for a cup of coffee and dessert. Or at least they didn't seat us. I'm hopeful that is the policy.

  8. Bacari Grill has been a staple in my life since my first job out of graduate school. Our VP took our department to Bacari for a nice lunch one day and I was so impressed by the atmosphere, the warmth, and the outstanding food (and the fact that we didn't have to pay…oh how young we were)! It's many moons later and I am still digging on this place.

They keep their menu fresh by swapping items out based on the season (not a seasonal menu per say, but they keep rotating new items in). Seafood, pasta, pizzas, steaks…it's all fantastic. I've been here for lunches, dinners, bridal/baby showers, dates, and the ever-popular Girls Night. Bacari Grill is appropriate for all of the above. Their wine pours are generous and they fill your martini glass up to the rim. Nothing chaps my hide quite like a half-full martini glass (you restaurants out there know who you are)! And they will stuff the olives with blue cheese for your dirty martini if you'd like (I like)! Their appetizers, entrees, and desserts are all generous portions – I often have leftovers, which means a killer lunch the following day.

The bar area is often hopping and the main dining room is always active and bustling. Everyone from the valet gents to the wait staff to the managers are kind and personable and they greet you with a smile. My friends who have thrown private events at Bacari Grill have commented that the catering manager is a pleasure to work with.

Weekends are often very busy – either make a reservation or arrive early and have a deliciously crafted cocktail by the bar while you wait. You won't be sorry you did!
