I usually let Yelp reviews influence my decisions and I'm so glad I didn't listen this time. I've never been to the racetrack and I thought dinner and betting on some horses would be a fun thing to do the Friday before Valentine's Day. I made a reservation for 6:15 on Open Table and added that we were celebrating b/f's birthday and requested a seat near the window by the finish line (per suggestions of reviewers on Open Table). There was a special Valentine's Day buffet offered (see pic for menu). When we arrived I was handed a red rose and we were seated exactly where I requested. Two complimentary glasses of pink champagne was brought to the table. I sat for a minute and looked around to get the gist of how things worked. It was busy but not overcrowded. We got a nice bottle of wine and proceeded to the buffet. There was a nice selection of food and everything I tried tasted really good. Jonathan at the steak station was very friendly and funny. When I was walking back to my table, the waitresses Maria and Linda whispered to me if I wanted them to bring a cake and candle for my b/f. Very cute touch! It was fun to eat and watch the races both through the window and on the screen (there are small Tv's at every table). When we finally decided to go and bet, Charles at the teller's station was nice and taught us the ropes. He joked every time we went back with a losing ticket that b/f was a winner because he had me (thanks Charles!). After dinner and a bottle of wine, Linda motioned to me and I knew she would be coming with the bday cake so I had my phone ready to go to capture the moment.
Maybe we got lucky with the Valentine's Day buffet but I had a wonderful experience here and would definitely come back.
Our experience was better than most reviewers on here. We decided to eat here tonight and I thought the view was excellent. The food was decent, had the Caesar salad, which was tasty, the salmon, good but not memorable and the best part of the experience was the dessert, the flourless chocolate cake was soooo yummy and had like strawberry whipped cream on the side, omg so good! The service itself was ehhh, we asked our waiter what beers they had on draft to which he answered, "Stella." We waited for him to say something else but nope, just Stella? When actually they had at least 6 other beers on draft…? Weird… Good thing we like Stella… And then he disappeared for a good 45 mins..we didn't mind so much because we were watching the races and betting. If we had wanted to get out of there then it would have been very annoying because of how long we waited for our check. Overall, it was decent and I might come back again to give it another go…
