I'm not really into healthy grains and what not but damn that farro with apricot and leek is awesome. The chicken is also pretty good but the real winner for me is the meatballs. Other than that the sides could use a pinch more flavor. But besides that part foods good. Maybe ill try the braised beef next time.
Had delivery from this spot and am glad we did. The Khao Soi (curry chicken noodles) felt homey, was very filling, and all-in-all was downright delicious. Also had a charred chicken plate with roasted vegetables which didn't come off as well. No matter, check them out. They may be on to something…
I've had this place bookmarked for a while, and finally checked it out for a weekend brunch. I really have no complaints!! For $10 and some cents, you can pick greens/grain, protein, and two sides of hot or cold food. This visit, I went with the quinoa, meatballs, mac and cheese, and the kale/feta salad.
It came with two meatballs. I almost paid extra for three, but I'm sure glad I didn't because I ended up feeling stuffed after the meal. They give good portions of their very fresh food. Honestly, I shouldn't have eaten it all. But I just had to!! The meatballs had great flavor and went surprisingly well with the quinoa. The mac and cheese lives up to all of its great reviews on yelp. It has a sweet and savory mixture of flavors. I saved a few noodles for my last bite.
Although the hot food was my favorite part, the kale salad did not disappoint! I also happen to love feta so the combination of the two (at a very appropriate ratio, I might add) made the perfect salad compliment to my gluttony.
Next time, I would say try one of their iced teas because they looked oh-so-tasty, and I didn't try one because I saw them after I already checked out.
hands down, one of the healthiest, hip places to get lunch lower midtown. and dont take either of those words the wrong way – dig inn serves up healthy, delicious food in a really fun, vibrant environment. its everything you want for healthy and hip, no pretense, no price-gouging. ordered the salmon, which is a very popular choice. it was lightly seasoned and served on a bed of mixed greens, along with brocolli and winter squash. the squash was really wow-ing, a surprise in every bite. a medly of veggies all coming together to create sweet explosions in your mouth. for 11 bucks, this really is one of the most well-rounded lunches you can get anywhere in the city. and its immensely satisfying.
I just got my lunch here today. Basically this is a lunch spot that sells a somewhat healthy option of salads, roasts and sides that are all american with a gourmet twist.
The food is tasty and the portion is just right enough for you to be not quite full from your meal – which is good b/c in this day and age – portion control is key to keeping a healthy weight.
3 of 5 stars b/c while it can leave most people almost full – i was still hungry afterwards.
Dig Inn is a relatively new fast casual restaurant. It's a great addition for the Manhattan lunch crowd, offering homestyle eats that won't kill your waistline (or attention span when you go back to the office). Most plates are under $10 — a reasonable price considering that they use high-quality ingredients and meats.
I've tried a variety of items at three of Dig Inn's locations (Brookfield Place, Midtown and Flatiron). The five spice meatballs are delicious, as is the chicken. The steak has been inconsistent; I've found it chewy and fatty on some occasions and tender and juicy on others. Previously you were able to go half and half and mix the meats, but it seems they've phased this out. That's a shame because this was one of the main reasons I'd order from Dig Inn.
The sides are also delicious, my favorites being the sauteed broccoli, kale with apple & blue cheese and the upstate mac. I've found service here to be pleasant enough. The line moves quickly.
Dig Inn reminded me what I miss living in the suburbs.
For $12, I got a composed salad built on a bed of baby greens that–get this–I could actually taste. It was topped with an excellent piece of salmon, wheatberries dressed in fresh herbs, several kinds of roast vegetables, freshly shaved parmesan and legit pesto. (I turned down the bread, so I never saw that.) The roasted vegetables were premium stuff, each seasoned according to its own flavor qualities and presented in little sectors so that I could enjoy the qualities of each.
The bathroom was clean, and there was much more seating than I'd expect for the location. A great find! I look forward to coming back.
While visiting New York we were starving and didn't know where to go. We just happen to walk past this restaurant that caught our attention and decided to give it a try.
Thank god we did! It was actually very good and flavorful. It's almost kinda like a chipotle style but with better options. We got grilled chicken with brown rice and sweet potatoes and Mac & cheese with side of avocado with olive oil. Everything was delicious. I specifically loved the sweet potatoes.
Definitely will be coming back to this place once I'm back in NY
