So I came here after seeing a groupon deal for them that provided 2 appetizers, 4 entrees, and 4 glasses of wine for $65. Seeing as how their menu priced each of their appetizers at ~$10, and each of their entrees at $20-$30, it sounded like an alright deal. So my friends and I arrive at the place and find a dimly lit restaurant, reminiscent of a romantic restaurant except the decor of the place wasn't keeping up. My friend kept on commenting how everything looked particularly cheap, from the plastic electric candles to the paper table cover; and, I unfortunately kind of agree with his observation. Also it seems like this is an Italian restaurant run by an Indian gentlemen and his group of Indian friends.
So we ordered the tri-combo fries ($12.95) which came with 3 mozarella sticks, 3 deep fried calamari pieces, and 3 deep fried zucchinis and a marina sauce for dipping. Everything was extremely bland including the sauce, and I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was all frozen packaged food. Besides that, the price for the quantity and quality is absurd and I wouldn't pay more than perhaps $7 for that order of appetizers. For our second appetizer we got a seafood platter ($14.95) which was kind of like a seafood medley. I didn't have any due to dietary restrictions, but my fiends seemed okay with it. For the entrees we got the almond-crusted veal ($24.95), Porcini Mushroom Ravioli ($16.95), a seafood risotto ($14.95), and a seafood combo ($28.95). I had the seafood combo, which was essentially a piece of salmon, a piece of mahi-mahi, and a piece of cod with a side of saffron rice and vegetables. The fish was cooked decently and was covered in a tangy sauce. My problem with the dish however is that for the quantity it was very overpriced at $28.95. The fish were nothing special, and presentation was just bad. The only redeeming point is that their portions for each fish was decent, but still not worth the price. For the other dishes I am relying on my friends' comments, but for the veal it was apparently well cooked, but not worth $24.95. Risotto received high remarks. Mushroom ravioli consisted of 5 raviolis for $16.95. How laughable. It also did not taste very good apparently.
So overall, the price is most definitely not justified unless you have a groupon or some other deal, and even then the dining experience is just not that great so I wouldn't bother coming here for anything nice. Even with the groupon deal the price per person came out to be $19 because they charge tax and tip to the face value of the food rather than the groupon value. Go elsewhere with your $19, you'll have a much better experience than this restaurant. And if you don't have a groupon deal, most DEFINITELY go elsewhere with the ~$35 that you would have spent here.
Bonus redeeming point: service was good.
Super amazing deal for Figaro Villagio's lunch special and for that, this place gets 5 stars from me. You get a good amount of food (appetizer, entree and coffee/tea) for under 15 bucks. The bar is definitely an attraction itself too. The blue neon lights are really snazzy. The establishment just opened up but I know for sure this place will do pretty well for the locals around here. I'll be back whenever I'm around the area.
