  1. The wait can be pretty tedious, but overall I think that the beautiful view and delicious food totally make up for the lack of always timely service. I've been a few times and I love the open environment of lounge.

  2. This is one of my least favorite places in Manhattan, but since visitors and conference goers tend to stay in the Marriott Marquis, I end up at the Broadway Lounge a couple times a year. On the upside, it has a nice view of Times Square (although I prefer the view from the R Lounge a block away).

On the downside, it has all the intimacy and ambiance of a family restaurant. The chairs and tables are those sort of chrome things you'd expect to find in a Denny's. The place is cavernous and brightly lit. Service is iffy and drinks are mediocre.

If you're staying at the Marriott with your family and want to grab a drink or bite with a good view of Times Square, this place is, at least, convenient. Otherwise, I'd strongly suggest getting out and about to explore the many other dining and drinking options nearby.  (New Yorkers will say midtown is a wasteland, but there still are nice options to be found.)

  3. The Meatballs with Garlic Bread is absolutely amazing ! The service is good and prices are reasonable. I would definitely be comfortable recommending this stop if you are in the area and need a good bite !

  4. I've been here so many times. In the past, I was able to come here and not have to order anything. But now, they're pretty strict about ordering something or you have to sit at the lounge near the elevator (that lounge it's pretty nice too). So I brought a friend here who was visiting from Japan. We each ordered soda since we were really there for the view and a quiet place to talk (it wasa Tuesday night). OMG! I had a sticker shock moment when I saw the bill. $4 for a small glass of iced-fill ginger ale. $4! Four freaking dollars!!! Seriously, it was a small glass and the ginger ale was from the bar (the one that they use to mix drinks). For 3 more dollars, I could have order Blue Moon in a much bigger glass. I was so disappointed. Soda is not listed in the menu, so I expected it to be $2 maximum. NOT $4!! For that price, I should provided a can of soda because the glass they provided barely filled a half a can of soda. I still like this place and would come back because of the view. Definitely sticking with beer whenever I come.

The table next to me ordered chocalate milk for their son. I wonder how much that costed!! Someone order chocolate milk and let me know!!

  5. Went here for a cocktail style company party.  Service was good as the food was refilled quickly and the staff was attentive and kept the areas tidy.  Two bars were set up.  The larger one was fully functional and had a good selection of liquors.  The smaller one only had limited stock for some drinks.  I requested an old fashioned and needed to go to the larger bar to have it made.  It was nice that the bartender had several whiskeys to choose from to make it.  The space is odd when you approach it as it seems to be tucked into a corner of the hotel, but is beautiful once you are inside it.  Decor is modern with glowing orbs  hanging from above.  Besides the seating facing the main dance area there are also small nooks that face the outside where you can go for some privacy.  There are two outdoor balconies with terrific views of Times Square.  Couches were set up in each of the balconies so you can really take in the atmosphere.  Food was average at best.

  6. When all is said and done here it is a noisy, crowded place with dramatically overpriced food and drinks. It could benefit from a full reanalysis of its purpose in the hotel. I would certainly gravitate to a quieter space. Service seems to be based on how you are dressed.

  7. Tried to navigate circular paradox of "lounge is closed, go to bar," and "bar is closed, go to lounge," signs with little success. Determined that the lounge opened at noon, but the gruff bartenders dismissed me when I tried to order after 12 at the lounge bar.  They didn't know when servers would be out to help us.  Left without ordering, but enjoyed the view for a bit.
