  1. Great for quick in and out food on the go.  The buffet is plentiful and good  with hot items (Asian, Italian, Homestyle, Veggie,) soup and salad all by the weight.  I filled my  to go container full and paid $14 with drink.  They also have a deli counter and some baked goods.  Something for everyone here!

  2. One of the better hot buffet selections. Some of the dishes were a little too salty. Not a lot of options in the area so this is probably one of the better ones

  3. Located conveniently on the corner of 45th Street and 3rd Avenue, Gourmet 45 has much buffet selections. Ideal for working early birds, lunch, or even night owls. They are opened 24 hours. This venue is quite small and cramped. The buffet bar is right in the middle and takes up half the store.

Buffet selections include a variety of fruits, salads, vegetarian dishes, and meat dishes. Even with chicken alone, there's at least five or six different styles of it. My favorite happened to be their spiced up grilled chicken wings. I love the flavors of various spices like pepper, cayenne pepper, and bits of minced parsley to top it. Overall, the food is decent and I might go as far as to say, great choices for a lunch buffet compared to their competitors. I see that they are aiming to be gourmet and healthy due to almost half the buffet are vegetables or fruits.

I personally thought the quality actually went down from my very last experience almost two years ago. It doesn't mean it is not good but just not as good as before. Also, it is pretty expensive so I wouldn't recommend it for an everyday or even a every week spot. But their greatest strength is variety and convenience. It is worth a visit or two.

  4. I have been to Gourmet 45 a number of times for lunch, mainly for the convenience factor. There are many buffet style restaurants like this in NYC. This one is OK, but does not stand out. There is good variety on the buffet, but dishes are a bit hit and miss. There is American, Italian, Sushi, Korean/Chinese. There is also plenty of fruit and veggies. Some of the food is a bit luke warm.

Wish they would rotate the dishes a bit more and not have the same week after week. The sushi is pretty terrible. The cashiers are efficient so you are in and out quickly. My coworkers love this place, I am not sure why. Also beware, I've seen some people who I assume are homeless take food from the buffet with their hands and not paying. One time the staff yelled at him and said she would get the cops, funny thing is the cops were right there loading up their buffet box and didn't do a thing…

  5. Not a bad, not a great place. I go here every so often to grab lunch at their buffet which can get pricey fast at $7/8 per pound, I can't recall exactly. Anyway, after a few scoops of this and that you're looking at a $15 lunch, especially with a drink. I've never bought a drink because where I work we have free beverages stocked, so that is a saviour. The food quality is good, nothing to rave about. They have hot and cold varieties as well as a sushi section. I'm no expert of quality sushi, but all the times I've eaten it, it was fine. I recommend this place if you need a quick fix for lunch or whatever but don't mind paying the price for the convenience of prepared foods. One plus is the cashiers are very efficient and keep people moving out fast!
