  1. If you get one thing here, get the wings. Seriously. Best wings I've had in any Hoboken bar, hands down.  Lots of wings per order, not terribly expensive, and big, crunchy, and full of flavor. 100 stars out of 5 for the wings.

For everything else – it's your typical Hoboken pub. Literally, you can walk down the street, close your eyes, and pop into another one just like it. Food is average (definitely skip the nachos – not that good). At night it turns into your typical Hoboken bar scene – decent music, some bopping here and there. Not a proper dance place, but a good place to start off a night. Ample amount of TVs in the front if you want to watch a game.

All in all – it's your typical 3 star hoboken bar…except bumped up to a 4 because the wings were fantastic.

  2. Stopped in here for a football fix one recent Sunday and liked the vibe.  TVs are very close to the bar, so you'll never miss a play.  Our bartender was friendly and on top of our drink refills.  The crowd was friendly with the bar full but lots of tables available, and the vibe was a little bit more sedate than the usual typical Hoboken exuberance.  Bonus points for Allagash White on draft.

  3. I've been to Marty O'Brien's a few times now, mainly for dinner and a drink.  I have had their wings and their wrap. I am a huge fan of Buffalo Chicken Wraps and Martys does not disappoint. It's on the spicier side of all the wraps I have had but it is the good kind of spice.

The facilities are clean and the staff is nice. Service has been slow on numerous occasions but if you are not in a rush then this is perfect for you. Drinks here are the standard affair, you can not really mess up a beer.

Location is ideal as it is close to the path and it is also not on the main drag so it does not get as packed as other bars.

Come here just to try their buffalo chicken wrap.

  4. Don't forget about Marty O's! Although most of "broboken's" sports bars are on Washington street's main drag this is just a hop skip and a jump away.

My experience here was so so… Certain things were standout, others not so much. We got a table outdoors and happy hour was goin on til 8. 4 dollar blue moon drafts – right on. There's a pretty packed out food menu which is always good. I'm not sure how I would feel about ordering an entree like chicken franchise or penne vodka here but there are a ton of sandwich and wraps that sound delish. Plus , you can get sweet potato fries or onion rings. Wowz.

Where Marty O fell short was in the service and the crazy high prices. It took a solid 15 minutes for anyone to come over and help us. I was finally able to flag someone down who very reluctantly took our order. I wasn't trying to bother anyone but the happy hour and my hunger were both time sensitive.

We shared a grilled chicken wrap with avocado. The wrap was overstuffed with avocado and was bomb. It came with a generous portion of sweet potato fries. This dish would have been 8-9 dollars at almost any other sports bar and it's 13 dollar price point was surprising.

Service and high price points aside, it's a solid pick to add into the Hoboken sports bar rotation. Especially if you want a break from wash street.

  5. Pretty run of the mill stuff here.  They had $3 yuenglings so we bit.  I got the blackened chicken wrap which was surprisingly tasty.  The lady got a pulled pork sandwich that was surprisingly bland.  Service was slow.  I think the waitress understood this and gave us a round on the house. Waitress was in loungewear which was a little strange.  When she came up to the table we thought she was just a lady walking on the street. Anyway, the comped drink was nice and she was very friendly despite a little awkwardness in the beginning.  Not sure we will back but it certainly was not a bad experience.  I really was surprised how much I enjoyed my wrap.

  6. Grabbed some drinks and watched basketball with friends here on Saturday night. This being my first time I certainly enjoyed myself.

We did not eat, so I can't really comment on the food. However, the drinks were priced right where they should be and they have a great selection. The decor is pretty standard bar/pub with plenty of TVs if you want to catch a game. The staff was friendly and attentive and always around and ready to get us something else.

I'd like to return to try the food, but as a drink spot this place is solid. We'll definitely keep this in mind in the future for meeting up with friends who live near.

  7. 3.5 stars. This place is definitely better than your average bar food. I liked their wings a lot. Even though they were breaded and I usually don't like that, they were nice and crispy and the sauce was delicious. We also had great service. I saw that a lot of things on the menu were served blackened but the salmon was not so I asked if I could have the salmon blackened and they had no problem doing it. It was so good! The portions were huge and everything was really good. If you want to go to a bar but also have a nice dinner, this is your place!

  8. I've been here 3-4 times and never knew the name of the place. I finally spotted it on the building and then verified it using Google street view just now. Funny thing is, reading these reviews made me doubt it was the right place all over again.

I've only here been here on the weekends at night when a DJ is present. Seeing all this Irish food and reading about the service made me scratch my head because no one is eating when I go.

Hell, there is no where to eat when I go.

I've only drank once out of the times I've gone and can't recall being mad at what I got. We really only come here to dance and act a fool with a bunch of other fools.

Way more space to get that going than in The Shannon.

Also, tons of people are down to just act out and go nuts which is a breath of fresh air in a town where everyone is so prim and proper.

The DJ is on point more times than he's not, so I won't hate on him.

    For now.
