I don't think that I'd come in for a legit meal, but for some drinks and maybe a snack LITM is the real deal.
They've got a fantastic happy hour that runs until 7 every day with a variety of discounted martinis, wines and beers. Everything was around 4-6 bucks. On Friday, they've got even more drinks on special including 6 dollar alcoholic teas. There are also some bar bites on happy hour for 5$ such as chips and pico, guac, fries and popcorn chicken.
On a rare 70 degree March evening, I sat outside and sipped on a 6 dollar lemon tea cocktail. It was super strong and tasted just like an Arnold Palmer – deeelish. Me and my boyfriend split an order of chips and pico to munch on. The pico was super fresh and homemade, and it was the perfect light and refreshing snack. When we were done I realized that although this is right in my 'hood, I've never actually been inside. We took a quick peak in and I was super impressed. Tons of funky artwork and decor, and on a Friday at 8 the place was buzzzzzing.
The menu didn't really seem to have an identity, and as previously mentioned, this probably wouldn't be my first choice for dinner. But, next time I'm looking to grab a drink I'd come back in a second. Oh, and some chips and pico with that drink wouldn't hurt either.
I finally came here for drinks and some food after passing by it since I moved to the area. I'm glad I went in as I enjoyed myself here. There was happy hour from 5-7 since it was a weeknight. I got a glass of wine for $5 and the bartenders were very friendly. They also were able to accommodate my friend who wasn't drinking so she had a hot chocolate instead of one of their alcoholic concoctions.
The menu had a good array of options from nachos and guac to burgers and other entrees. I liked that they had a mix of meat and veggie options. We tried the meatballs stuffed with cheese which were not bad, also wrapped in bacon. Then we shared the vegetable quesadilla which was yummy.
The cool feature of this place is that it's also a gallery! They have rotating shows every month. The artwork is carefully selected and well hung on the walls throughout the front and back of the establishment.
The crew that was there tonight was not as good as the crew the week before. And the week before had twice the amount of people in the bar easily. The crew the week before was hella more on top of drink orders and their attitudes were better as well. No stink faces or passive aggressive BS.
Just saying.
Yep, it's like that.
My 2nd trip errors:
* Old glass not cleared till I was 1/2 way done with my second drink.
* Asked if wanted it over ice? Yeah, duh. But failed to tell me it's the regular price for the drink. Really? $8 for a highball during happy hour for specially priced Van Gogh vodka w/ice, but $5 if it's a martini? Clarify that on your menu please. Thanks!!!! What a dumb difference.
* Bartender goofing off more with his friends than doing his job. Call it like I see it.
Staff wasn't attentive at all. Extremely non-compliant & aloof. When my glass empty didn't ask at all if I wanted another. Just kept passing me by & I had to finally ask for another damn drink. Being super passive aggressive with slamming glasses down in front of me. Don't care if it was due to me or other patrons. But it was a short-lived event. Very juvenile & extremely f****** rude.
But wow, asked the patrons around me if they wanted another drink.
Seemed bias & selective to me. Interpret that a little bit further if you will…
The girl I had the week before was soooooo much better.
If you want specifics (as in names), let me know. PM me. Good service deserves continual good customers. The opposite does not.
Ask & you shall receive.
I actually enjoy this place. Been here three times with my best friend and we love it !!
Chips and guac are delicious! Also their drinks are a reasonable price. They have different specials on different nights. Some iced tea nights and some$5 margarita nights. Always a good time. They play Netflix movies on the tvs and it's never too packed when we go.
The go to bar in that area. Always need to stop by for a drink.
I love it because I do get to showcase my art here, nowadays it's rare to find a place that continuously has call for arts. Come June 2016 it would be twice that my work has been hung here. The work stays up on a month to month basis so it changes every month, the themes and/or artists. And all work is for sale! But overall I like the atmosphere here it isn't so loud that you can't talk to those you came with. There are tables so that is always a plus, and usually drink or food specials. I can't judge based on food because I usually come for drinks but if I had to say anything the food to me seems more like finger food (smaller portions). The opening receptions are held the first Tuesday of the month if you ever want to meet with the artists or get first dibs on buying pieces. *Wink Wink* I'll be there this upcoming Tuesday, June 7, 2016 lol.
Randomly stumbled in because I heard a large crowd gathered. I learned that it was a Hilary for America event hosted by an Asian American affinity group! It was a nice atmosphere and nice for gatherings too. I'd come back for a drink any day.
Long day on New Years Day with car breaking down in the morning right after loading up car for trip home from Connecticut … But thanks to the love and generosity of family we made it home with two cats in towe. Got home in evening and some good alcohol and comfort food and chill vibe felt welcome. We parked near Grove Street and wished to check out a new resto. This establishment wooed us by its chill vibe, dimmed lights, diverse thoughtful menu, long white bar, and inside we were greater by great service (tank you Summer!!), music, and amazing food and drinks. I got the iced tea cocktail and my husband got the pumpkin ale which was a solid tasty drink. Now, the highlight was the burger.
OMG, the best burger I've had for miles around: medium rare (of course) with cheddar sautéed mushrooms and onions with side salad. All the stress of the day melted. The only burger I have had this good was in Hawaii. They have good beef in Hawaii. Complements to the Chef!!
The popcorn chicken was ok. Liked the peppery flavor and texture but ironically too rich for me (I know, I'm saying this while ordering and loving the burger).
I just had an awesome dinner with what felt like a hospitable designer's expansive NY living room with tasteful indie music and friendly neighbor company. Will be back.
Vegetarians rejoice!
LITM is a great spot, especially for Happy Hour. They have great deals. And they have so many vegetarian options. I'm absolutely obsessed with the Tofu Buffalo "wings" – they're so delicious – and it will take away any post-meat eater cravings for buffalo sauce. You can also get vegetarian nachos, which may I add are layered perfectly. The staff is generally nice, the art is generally bizarre. They have an itty bitty outdoor section during the summer, which is a nice addition. I've probably been here about 10 times for Happy Hour.
Tip: Came here for the 2016 Super Bowl, expecting a packed and noisy house – not so – got the big screen all to ourselves! (and the buffalo tofu wings all to ourselves too).
