  1. The formerly best seafood restaurant in queens/Nassau area is gone, replaced by yet another American bistro.
Nothing much to complain about here, but conversely there's also nothing to Yelp home about.
Food is mediocre, better apps than entrées And salads are uninteresting but fresh.
Like I said, it's a nice place to visit if you're in the area, but not somewhere that I'd travel any distance to repeat this appearance.
Service is not the most attentive and the bar atmosphere was a turnoff upon arrival (chalk it up to one loud group, but still that's an indication of the acoustics).
Kind of a shame to lose something that was such a mainstay. Fresh seafood at fair prices, cooked well, now that's something needed in this area.

  2. 7 months in and owner Peter is as passionate of his business as he was when it opened. Three of us went on Friday night for dinner and we had a great time. For cocktails we had one Delerium Belgium beer and a couple of The Pike Beers. According to Peter, they will have Delerium on tap shortly along with other IPA's. Sunny, our server brought us gratis Hummus with pita right away to ward off the hunger. We were so impressed with the appys we got last time we got them again. Short Rib Spring Rolls w/incredible dipping sauce…outstanding!! Also got the Buffalo Wings…meaty large size wings that were juicy and delicious…were a treat.
Now that we were practically stuffed we ordered entre's:
    One Bleu Cheese Burger rare
    One cheddar burger with bacon
Special seared Tuna with Wasabi mashed potatoes.

We all enjoyed our meals and the conversations with Peter regarding his preparation and quality of his ingredients. The Pike is a winner and a great choice for food and drink!

  3. We came in here after waiting for it to open!  Like always i check open table and they do reservations through them great!

Parking on the street worked fine for us  it was great lots of ample parking!

We were seated right away when we arrived.  Loved the tile look on the inside.   The bar looked beautfiul.  With clean white

After we ordered this beautiful homemade hummus appeared with warm pita delicious!   For appetizer we ordered the pretzel sticks.  So delicious and has to be homemade!  Such a tease to get 2!

My bf ordered the burger which was cooked to perfectionand super juicy!
We ordered the skillet mac and cheese  to share and frankly i think i shouldve ordered one for each of us so delicious!!!
I was feeling chilly that day so i ordered tomato soup with these grilled cheese coutons on the inside.   Really neat concept. But i wouldve liked grilled cheese wedge on the side

Overall everything was amazing.  Jackie our waitress was helpful in making great recommendations!   Cant wait to return!

  4. Say yes to The PIKE. This place is a decent sized, intimate, more upscale bar… Came here on a whim after work and was pleasantly surprised.. The bar offers up a concise menu of starters, salads, and mains… Not the huge obnoxious kind of bar menu that is pretty typical. This menu offers a well thought out bunch of eats to meet your every craving.

Had the Complimentary pita with hummus, Caesar salad with shrimp, mussels, and the mushroom flatbread … Loved it all..

Pete the owner was cool AF. Real stand up dude, my friend and I were acting super obnoxious after a long day of work and her tolerated us which was awesome.. Him and his wait staff were really cool and down to earth, not like those pretentious dicks you chat with at other bars when they first open…

We really liked this place and will def come back.. They had a good brunch menu too..

Nice place. Cool staff. Decent prices. Good playlists (Chris, I wasn't gonna give you the credit, lol). See ya guys soon.

Just a note: I hear their buffalo Mac and cheese is genius.

  5. We decided to try out the new kid on the pike for an early Saturday night dinner. We didn't have a reservation, but I figured we were going in somewhat early so there shouldn't be a problem getting a table – it wasn't, but the place was hopping.

I do like the look of this place – subway tiles rule the day here with wood tables and red leather chairs. The look is a solid classic for an upscale casual feel. It is dimly lit making for a comfortable and inviting space. They have a nice bar.

As we enjoy the complimentary pita chips with hummus we notice the dinner menu is focused with some modern classic choices along with a decent selection of draft beer and wines as well as interesting cocktails. I try the Pike pilsner, my wife gets a glass of red malbec.

My wife ordered the wedge salad as a starter and decides to make the mussels, which is an appetizer, her main. I go for the crispy chicken under a brick for my dinner with no app because I knew we would share what she ordered.

A gentlemen other than our waitress, in a bit of a misstep, brings the mussels first, but we go with it. They were tasty with strips of chorizo in a white wine broth with grilled baguette slices. We share the large portion and notice the broth is rich, a couple of the mussels have a bit of grit also a little on the small side, but common issues for mussels.

There was some confusion because after we finish the mussels and the plates cleared, our waitress brings a bowl and two small forks in preparation for the main course. We inform her that we already received the mussels and didn't get the wedge salad yet. She apologizes, but we joke about eating any food that is put before us. The wedge comes out and it is a large portion – a rich flavorful salad. The chicken is not as crispy as I hoped it would be, but it was juicy and had good flavor with plenty of mashed potatoes that were a touch bland. Some of the Haricot Verts were a bit burnt giving them an off flavor.

For dessert, we share the bread pudding which is warm and custardy. It was missing the strawberry puree, but it was still delicious.

The Pike is less than 2 months old so I still feel it is in "previews" or trying to find it's pacing. At this point a busy Saturday night is probably not going to be a flawless experience, but the staff is very friendly and accommodating – excellent service! In all honesty ours was probably a three star experience this occasion, but there is so much potential here! I am giving 4 stars because I believe this is what LI needs more of – locally owned, non-cookie cutter (non-chain) places, with reasonable prices and good portions of delicious food.

  6. The food was very good.  I went for brunch.  We started off with a scone and muffins.  The brunch includes either mimosa, Bloody Mary, and sangria.  I had the mimosa.  For $5 more you can make it a boozy brunch.  I had a three egg omelet with as many of the toppings that were offered. The omelet was great and I chose to have tater tots with them.  The service was great and I liked the ambience.

  7. Overall, great atmosphere and local spot particularly for me.  The Pikes Pilsner tap was great beer on tap along with the burger with fries.  A low-key spot if you don't want too much action surrounding you.  I would highly recommend it.  The waiter/waitress hosts were fantastic as well.  They weren't miserable hosts as these other bar/restaurants have around locally.  The beer they served was in a mug and felt as if I got my money's worth for the beer.  I would highly recommend for all.  I assume it's a new spot since this joint used to be a seafood spot previously.

  8. Our waiter was Lawrence who was very prompt in welcoming us to the restaurant.  He went over some of his favorite appetizers and made suggestions. Lawrence brought us the homemade hummus and fried pita chips and they were fantastic. We devoured the first order and they brought a second order. Oh we are piggy!

Next came the fried calamari with mayo and garlic aioli. The aioli is a little light on flavor, but for those with a lighter flavor palate it would be satisfactory. The calamari was excellent, light and crispy. Super fresh.

Now to the heart of the meal. I ordered the angus hamburger medium with caramelized onions and French fries. My first thought when my burger arrived at the table was that the presentation was poor. There it was, a delightful brioche bun open all nakedly toasted. That bun needed some decoration.  Extras like caramelized onions, cheese, bacon are all $1.00 extra. I love caramelized onions, but these were not good. I can't even explain the taste, but I was disappointed. I scraped them off the burger hoping the flavor had not set in. Cutting into the burger it seemed dry.  The burger was definitely well done, over cooked. Lawrence did check on us regarding the food and I told him the burger was not edible. The owner did offer to make another burger for me, but I declined. It's just my thing. Once my food comes out from the kitchen incorrect, I never send it back for correction or any other food.

I tasted some of "G" orecchiette with eggplant and zucchini. The sauce was delicious and just the perfect amount of cheese. This dish could easily be shared by two people. I think this dish was $18.00. A little on the high side for the dish.

Since I did not technically eat anything but hummus and calamari, I had room for dessert. Justification for dessert!  Surprisingly, there is not a chocolate dessert choice on the menu at this time. The owner did say that a ganache cake is coming to the dessert section. They do offer Juniors cheesecake, brioche bread pudding, and gelato. There is also an item not on the menu which was right up my alley.
Warm apple crisp with ice cream. This delight may just erase the fact that my burger was a fail. Oh my high hopes.  If you read my reviews you know I always save room/won't finish my meal for warm apple crisp. I am not a big fan of the dollop of ice cream on it, but tonight I went with the ice cream.
It arrived at the table, I thought huh, were is it. It's small, in a cutesy cup with the ice cream on top. Definitely not enough to share. I wanted to love this so much, but it was just not doing it for me. The apple was missing and the crispy pieces and crust stuff reminded us of the flavor of those hostess apple pies you get at the grocery. The ice cream this time was the winner of the dessert. There was left over apple crisp in the very small cup. This dessert was $7.00, very pricey for what you get.

The burger was removed from the bill and the owner was very apologetic over what happened with my meal. I can say Lawrence was a fabulous waiter and was definitely on point with his customer service and friendly interaction.
Lawrence was the best part of our visit. Lawrence has been in the customer service industry for a while working at some very well known restaurants.

The ambiance was really nice and cozy. Great lighting against the subway tiles on the walls. Upscale with an open neighborhood vibe. The bar looked very appealing with quite a few people having drinks and apps. Two large TV's in the bar area.

I am giving 3 stars for the extraordinary customer service. This is really a 5 star review for the customer service minus 2 for the food. We live nearby so I was really hoping this place would rock it.  If you decide to give the Pike a chance definitely ask for a Lawrence to be your server. Sticking with the appetizers may be with way to go here. They all seem amazing, but then again so did the burger.  🙁
