Z Two Restaurant Diner and Lounge

“Thursday night is ladies night and ladies drink free 9-11p. It's a very beautiful lounge.”

“I left here very satisfied, and actually brought some of the food home, because they gave us such big portion sizes.”

“This place looks better than the original Z – One Restaurant on Richmond Ave. Lots of flat screen TV and a sport bar.”

  1. One of the better diners on Staten Island, the food is usually tasty and their fries are so crispy ! They do great lunch and diner specials which are worth trying. You get a soup, entrée, desert and tea/coffee, which is a great value. As far as deserts I'd steer clear from the pies. They are diabetically sweet and over filled. The monte carlo sandwich is the BOMB! Try it with a side of maple syrup, you will not be disappointed (you will feel like your having a heart attack, but it will be the best tasting heart attack ever (: )

As far as a "club" in a diner, that's ridiculous.

  2. Great looking place inside and out. I was very surprised to find it being open 24/7. We arrived around 2:30am and ordered a bunch of starters. Kobe sliders were good – just not kobe beef. Mexican egg rolls were very tasty and lastly the nachos were so-so. I just hate when places use cheese whiz for sauce. So cheap and gross.

Other than that it was a pleasant experience.

  3. I've been to Z1 as well and I say this one has better food. Consider it an upscale diner with a bar area too. we ordered an appetizer sampler which was plenty for us and everything in it was pretty good. Everyone else had a burger and they were actually very good. Cooked right and tasted fresh! waiter was prompt and attentive. Can't ask for much more.

  4. Don't bother going on a Friday night, you will be forgotten at your table.  Service is usually decent, but on this particular occasion, it is about 2am on a Friday night, our waiter took forever to take our order, then didn't bring the coleslaw or pickle.  One entree came out a good ten minutes before mine did, did I mention I was starving?  When it came, the food was good but they forgot my fries.  Our waiter is MIA and we would like to get out of here at some point.  It still remains to be seen if we will ever actually get out of here….
TIP at night the nightclub plays decent music but the patrons, UGH

  5. Came here on a Sunday for lunch. We were promptly seated where we asked, out on the patio, and our server was very nice. Wait staff was eager to serve us and made sure we were constantly hydrated. I had a crab cake for lunch and I think my mistake was not asking if it was fresh or made in house. It was definitely pre-made and  pre-frozen, so that was pretty disappointing. Maybe next time I will just think about my choice a little more. I've had other dishes here, chilled duck salad, for example, which was very good. Will give them another chance and hope to update this review to 4 stars.

  6. It beats Z One Lounge, but still.

I ordered a L.E.O. wrap (leo standing for lox, eggs, onion). However, the lox was not smoked salmon, but regularly cooked salmon. The eggs were pretty overdone, and the flavor overall was lacking.

Other than that, typical diner food.

  7. Their food was not that good, it had no flavor, but the drinks were okay. Good place to come and dance and meet other people.

  8. Z-Two has an extensive menu. From what I've tried, the food is always "good but not great"– it's nice to have a lot of options but it might benefit more to specialize. The menu size is reminiscent of a diner's but the food is more expensive and the space definitely does not have that homey, diner feel.

The restaurant is a large space which is nice but I'm not sure what atmosphere it's going for. There are large TVs around like a sports bar but it also claims to be a "lounge"– I've never come here for the lounge.

Don't come here expecting an amazing meal but if you have a group of people with varying tastes and want something more upscale than a diner, this might be the place for you– and it doesn't hurt that it's 24 hours.

I prefer Z-Two to Z-One, though I haven't been to the latter in quite some time. Last time I was at Z-Two I ordered a wrap and asked for the sauce on the side– pretty sure they put it in the wrap AND gave me some on the side, which is obviously not what I was aiming for.

The servers used to give you a hard time about substitutions (i.e. vegetables instead of fries) and up charge but I think they've done away with the up charge.
