  1. I like this bar.  Is it a fancy?  No.   Is the crowd classy?  Usually not.  But I've been here a few times and the drinks are cheap and the staff is friendly.   We stopped in for a drink before a concert Saturday and I was surprised to find there was a cover since there was a band playing there.  We almost didn't go in and told the staff we just wanted to get a drink before our concert.  Surprisingly, they let us in with no cover which I really appreciated.  There were a few bartenders working and all of them were friendly and attentive.  I can't speak for the food here, but this is a good place to stop by if you're just looking for a drink or two.

  2. Fantastic! I loved the live music and great customer service.

They have a pretty good selection of bar food and beer, both of which make me super happy.

  3. Came here a few times within the past few months.  Nice place to catch up with friends over a few drinks.  No official drink menu aside from their daily specials, so I guess the options are endless! They have some local bands play on weekend nights which is nice, but otherwise it's a very relaxed atmosphere.

One odd thing, the first time I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night, there was a cover charge of $5??? I'm not sure if that's a regular thing on weekends because I've only ever gone since on weekdays.  But $5 for a cover for a bar in Montclair was just so weird! We didn't even end up going in.  But anyways like I said, hasn't happened since.

  4. Great space – very long bar with TVs galore; ideal for watching football. Also, looks like they have stage set up for live music, really good layout for that. The bartender (the fat one, sorry don't know his name), needs to get another job he doesn't hate because he's miserable. Even with an empty bar, you can't get a drink here without flagging him down and when he does, he's doing you the biggest favor of your life.

  5. My friend took me here on halloween eve. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner.   Lifespeed was playing that night. The band had games and gave away free drinks to winners.  They threw glowsticks and toilet paper'd us haha , good time good time! This was my very first time there and I had alot of fun. Great crowd it was so diverse. Had a pumpkin beer on tap by riverhorse . The drinks seem to be priced well. Parking was ok as long as you park in the lot around the corner because street parking is scarce.

I would definitely come back, I just loved the atmosphere /vibe!

  6. My girlfriends & I decided to come here because it said there was outdoor seating and it was beautiful out on Sunday. Their outdoor seating was ok, but there was a building blocking the sun, so it was kind of chilly.

So we just wanted to hang out and get drinks, however there is no drink menu. Super weird for a bar. So our waitress, tried to tell us all of their drinks but missed a lot because they should have a menu!

Our waitress was interesting. Like we thought she was new and didnt know much, but she wasnt. Like she just wasnt trying at all. We would try to get her attention and she would be chit chatting with her coworkers near the bar. So it took us 40 mins to get our check, which is crazy.

Next, there was a live band, a couple of older gentlemen, they were nice however, the only downside was it 4PM on a Sunday, and how loud the music was felt like I was at a house party at 3AM. We couldnt even have a conversation.

  7. I found myself stuck in Montclair for business a couple of times this week. To be more precise, I found myself stuck at Just Jake's. Why stuck, you ask? Because this was the meeting point where the company told us to gather and wait for instructions. And wait. And wait for hours. And then wait a bit more…

Just Jake's made what was an otherwise horrible business experience at least bearable. I can't remember the names of the two bartenders, but they were fantastic. If you come here ask them to make you a Henne-tea, a Hennessy-inspired cocktail that was as refreshing as it was tasty. Pretty comprehensive list of beers on tap too, including a blond ale from The Bruery, and a cherry sour from Ommegang.

Also, I'm not sure whether it was the frustration of the whole situation, but I found the food better than your average bar food. The buffalo shrimp pops were perfectly fried, and the chicken fingers were actually quite delicious.

Great, friendly place to relax after work, catch up with friends while watching a game, or just unwind. The kind of neighborhood place you want to have in your neighborhood.

If my memories of my two visits to Montclair are not straight out of a horror movie is thanks to Just Jake's.

  8. Came here for the first time last night to watch Garden State Radio (an amazing cover band btw) and had a great time!

$8 cover charge with a complimentary coat check.

Nice venue to watch shows in. Plenty of room on the floor to move around and dance like an idiot with your friends. They have a main bar with a few beers available on tap and a mini bar on the side. Majority of the night, my friends and I hung out by the mini bar.

Cocktails were okay. Liquor I though was a little pricey for what you actually get. $8 for a small cup and about $13 for a larger one.
    Beer was super cheap though!
Bartender was nice and attentive even with the place being as busy as it was.

They have a nice patio outside which I can imagine being very nice in the summertime.

The main bar seemed a little sloppy, it had a ton of money on it and was a little sticky, but whatever.

I wouldn't come back here on a regular night personally, but would absolutely come back to watch another show.
