  1. Great local pub.  I am so glad this place exists in Park Slope.  It has none of the pretentiousness you get at some of the other restaurants in the neighborhood.  I came here on a Sunday night with some friends and was very impressed.

The booths could be a little bit roomier, but we still ended up staying for hours.  It's a very laid back atmosphere and certainly seems like a family owned pub.  We ended up having dinner here, and the food was very good.  I had a veggie burger which came with fries.  Our waiter was older and did mix up our beer order, but when we corrected him he let us keep the other beer.  All of the staff were very friendly!  I'd definitely recommend this spot.

  2. I have been meaning to go here since we moved to Park Slope (3 years ago) and I'm so happy we finally did! Park Slope Ale House is one of the few, if any, pubs on 6th ave in North Slope. We live on 6th ave, so it was just about a 10 min walk from our place.

We arrived pretty early on a Saturday night and while all the booths were taken, it was pretty empty. By the time we left though a couple of families had sat at tables around us.

Not sure about happy hour, but their cocktails are pretty affordable. Some of the cocktails are even cheaper than the beers, and they're tasty.

We both got burgers, one veggie and one regular. They were yummy and so were the fries. Everything tasted hot and fresh. Our food did take a super long time to come out though, but we weren't in any rush.

The Ale House seems like a cool place for families or friends… It's pretty low key, with a moderately extensive menu, solid music and friendly staff. We will definitely return and are happy to have found this neighborhood spot.

  3. I hardly ever, ever make it all the way out into Brooklyn, but my boyfriend and I came here for a small event that was held in the back of the bar, where there are plenty of tables/space for large group, but is extremely hot in the winter.  Their heater is on full blast and I left sweating.

Drink selection is decent, but my favorite was their malt apple cider (without the alcohol).  It's served in a mason jar with a handle with a stick of cinnamon at the bottom.  Perfect for a cold day, but maybe not so perfect when you're inside a stifling hot building.

I had a few bites here:

Nachos – would not recommend.  It's just a pile of stuff sour cream and cheese over a bed of tortilla chips and it's really hard to eat because all the chips are glued together by the cheese and its like a nacho pie.  The jalapenos are in huge wedges and not bite-size friendly.  This was not satisfying at all.

Spicy buffalo wings – actually quite decent.  The sauce is spicy, but on the mild side.

Fish and chips – didn't eat the chips, as I wanted the sauteed spinach as a substitute… but the waiter decided to not listen to me and give me an extra side of spinach instead.  The fish was nicely cooked and deep fried with not too much batter.  Perfect with malt vinegar, or, my favorite, Tabasco and ketchup!

Sauteed spinach – after thinking about it, I really hope this wasn't sauteed in butter because that would defeat the whole purpose of me ordering it.  It was very garlicky which I really liked, but too salty for my liking.  The garlic gave it really good flavor.

This place was dead on a Saturday night at 10pm.

  4. visited park slope one leave evening to visit some friends.  we stopped by the ale house to grab a late dinner and some drinks.  our conversation came to a halt when our food arrived and we found ourselves scarfing down our food.

we definitely made the right choice.  i ordered fish and chips and everything came out fresh and hot.  everyone else's dishes were excellent as well.

they have a good variety of daily specials and specials on drinks as well.

a great place to grab some drinks, some food, and just unwind.

  5. Pretty good food and brunch special. We came here to enjoy a local spot while checking out the Brooklyn Neighborhood. I was happy to be enjoying brunch in a non crowded relaxed atmosphere. I would come here again if we do in fact move to the hood.

  6. I dragged my friends here because I was craving some chicken pot pie.  I wanted to sit on the booth, but they only allow you to sit there if there's 3+ or more people.  It worked out anyway because we decided to eat by the bar and found that they have happy hour which is 50 cent jumbo wings from 4 to 7pm ONLY by the bar.  Also, it's $1 off drafts.

I have to say that I am hooked.  The wings are delicious, we had buffalo and bbq wings.  To top it all off, the chicken pot pie was amazing! It come's with a thin crust on top, there's a lot of vegetable on it and a little bit of chicken.  However, the flavor definitely makes up for it.

  7. My husband and I stumbled upon this place. We didn't even know it was here because we normally stick to 5th and 7th avenues when going to restaurants. I was surprised by the 3.5 star rating for here. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly. It seems like this place used to be different and they changed to fit the neighborhood a bit more. We split the fried pickles, which were AMAZING. I got a black bean veggie burger which was pretty good, but not the best I've ever had and my husband got the buffalo chicken wrap and really liked it. This is definitely a step up from your every day bar food fare. I would recommend this place.

  8. My boyfriend wanted to stop by Park Slope Ale House specifically since they have his current favorite beer on tap (Sweet Water 420 EPA)… my wine was just okay.  There was a familial vibe, which was nice, and our bartender was attentive.
