  1. good place to watch games and hang out. also the food is good too. i suggest you call to see what time the kitchen closes because its not when the bar does.

  2. The fact that a sports bar this "sporty" exists in NYC much less of all places a desolate corner in Greenpoint is amazing. When you're in here, you truly don't feel like you're in New York anymore–so on an escape factor high marks.

The TV situation is plentiful although not as decadent as more modern sports bars, but when you want to watch game(s) it'll certainly get the job done.

Overall, the service can be a bit spotty (especially upstairs) but hey, you're hanging at a sports bar watching TV so no immediate need to rush. And the beer selection is pretty stale. But you know what isn't stale? Wing, taco and slider specials during the week. And their Raspberry BBQ wing glaze is freaking delicious! I'm a huge wing fan and this is one of my fav flavors around. If you prefer something less sweet, the regular are also quite good.

So for having deals, actually offering sports instead of hipsterism, being casual and pretentious-free and rarely jammed. I say Bravo, bravo Red Star.

  3. We finally found this place after searching far and wide in the area for a place with TVs and AC because we wanted to watch the Belmont Stakes and the USA game. The interior is cool with several big TVs and a nice layout. We sat down and ordered a drink and cooled off. The bartender came over to us quickly and took our drink orders and since there was no one in the place the bartender stayed and chatted with us. Which was…interesting since he only talked to my boyfriend but whatever. My boyfriend should probably have been the one who ordered the burger in instead of me because it came out closer to medium well/well done when I said medium rare. We were starving so we ate it anyways. It's a nice bar and although I had a weird experience I would probably give it another shot.

  4. My girlfriend and I came here around 4:00pm on a Saturday after attending an event at the Brooklyn Expo Center. We were walking around the area and nothing really caught our eye besides Red Star. There was one other couple sitting in this cozy bar when we arrived and a few other people standing at the bar. Place was empty but we did come at an awkward time. They have plenty of TVs so we got to watch everything we wanted to while we stayed.

The bar tending was really good for me but OK for my girlfriend. The bar tender was really only paying attention to me to be fair. Obviously I didn't mind his conversation or attention if I need water or something but he should have conversed with Victoria as well. I was worn out from day-drinking so I stuck with water. They do have a decent selection of beers on tap though. We decided to split a burger with some onion rings. The onion rings were tasty but I wish there was more than what we got. The burger for really over cooked so I had to really lay on the ketchup to get it down. I would try this place out again if I am in the neighborhood and lean towards the wings that everyone post photos of.

  5. I love this place! Sport bar that has 2 floors and TV's everywhere (even in the men's bathroom from what I heard) The staff does a tremendous job in making the best drinks ever!

I have gone here for years! The best wings that I have ever had– Raspberry BBQ wings are unbelievably amazing! it's great to go on a Wednesday when the wings are .50 cents each.i love the Pub Fires but I always ask them to put the Old bay Fries instead of the regular fires and the mixture is amazing. The baby Arugula salad is great and i also recommended the Brooklyn Calamari.

It's great to go during a game but to get the earlier to get a table– they also do towers of beer which is great if everyone drinks the same beer.

    Try the RASPBERRY WINGS!!!

  6. Nibbles are great (like the wings) and the drinks are solid. It's a fun and sometimes rowdy crowd, but what else is new? In comparison to other locations, nothing super great to brag about, but you won't be disappointed here.

  7. I've never eaten here but earlier this year they started throwing some late night events after the kitchen closes so I've been attending those. The spot itself is intimate but pretty chill especially when you go on a night when Inoki is throwing an event there. It has multiple levels. The downstairs area is pub like with a bar and some seating. They do have a some TV's down there so you can watch a game if you'd like. Re-entry is permitted you just need to get your hand stamped to go out and smoke or get some air. The area can get a little sketchy at night with the police constantly patrolling but I haven't witnessed any incidents in this particular venue.

The upper floors have a more loungey vibe to them. There's an additional bar upstairs and a DJ booth and a dance floor. There's couches to sit and chill on the outskirts of the dance floor. The sound system is pretty loud and decent in clarity for the space. The bartenders serve quickly and pour nicely. Overall it's definitely a cool spot.

  8. A drafty Saturday evening led 4 friends here for wings and a drinks.

The wings of the night were garlic, raspberry bbq, & mild wings. Teh garlic wings were the losing flavor.  I didn't taste a piece of garlic and I love garlic… to the point it's coming out of my pores when consumed. The other flavors were pretty tasty and made up for the ungarlic wings.

The drink of the night was the red star challenge, which is a fishbowl with enough for 2 people to share. It's a sneaky drink… taste like fruit punch w/ nothing in it…but wait until you stand…a bit wobbly.
