“Some may say brunch can be a little slow, but I'd call it laid back and a damn nice spot to not do in a hurry, especially when it's cold out.”
“I live in the south so I wasn't expecting a hipster filled restaurant in Williamsburg to actually fulfill my biscuits and gravy craving.”
“Veggie burger and Bloody Marys with girlfriends is how brunch is meant to be celebrated!”

We were greeted by a chipper host…and seated in the corner. Upon being greeted by our waitress, she wasn't too welcoming. It was as if she was taking the food order from purple people eaters.
The party of 3 seated next to us received their plates before us and they ordered similar meals i.e. steak, poached eggs and salad. When the waitress was questioned as to when our meals will be served she stated that it will be out shortly. I then told her that the party next to us ordered similar meals and they were served already. She proceeded to explain the cooking process/time as an excuse. After I stated again that we ordered the same food items. She said that she will go and check on our orders. To my suprise within 30 seconds she magically appeared with our plates.
Another occurrence that I found to be weird or maybe my mind was playing tricks on me because of my tainted view of receiving lackluster service. Our waitress went into a huddle with the host and another waitress. Judging from their facial expressions and body language it seemed as though they were discussing me questioning the arrival of our food. After that, our waitress didn't seem too interested in providing us with the best service. She only checked on us once and after our plates were taken away she neglected to ask if we wanted anything else. She simply slid the check on the table and said thank you as she scurried away like a wind was pushing her in the opposite direction of the "purple people eaters".
CONCLUSION…Am I to believe that because I'm a " purple people eater " that I shouldn't receive my food in a timely manner. Did we deserve to be slighted because we are "PPE's"…like other "Eaters" of all colors , we only came to enjoy Sunday brunch not to be treated as though our stomachs arent worthy of being filled to capacity. At the LODGE I truly felt as though I was a hunted deer stuffed and mounted on the wall for display not to be taken care of like a live animal.
Also the same chipper greeting that we received when we entered the establishment was not given when we exited…hmmm, I wonder WHY !!!
Oh yea, the food was good. If I based the rating on that ALONE, I would of given them 4 stars.
Bought a City Shuffle's Diners Deck and Lodge was one of the options (basically it's a deck of cards, each with a different restaurant on it and you get $10 off when you spend $30 at each one, woo!).
Came here on an unfortunately cold and gray Saturday morning with a girlfriend. The place was pretty empty, and we had to move our seat once because it was super cold inside. I think the walls open in the summer so the windows are super insulated… but still decently chilly.
The food was good, not great, but the tea cups were huge. I don't know about anyone else but I love a big tea cup. The service was decent, even a little weird with some strange favoritism going on with another table, i.e. the waiter was taking 11AM shots with a table of young gals — but nothing to really write home about.
The veggie burger was a bit mushy but at least it was on the menu! South Side Williamsburg is not my hood so I probably won't be back very soon.
I loved this place! The theme of the restaurant is an old lodge from the 80s basically. It's pretty awesome. The food is spot on. I came here for brunch with my husband and both of our entrees were delicious. They have lots of vegetarian options that go beyond a plate of veggies or rice. Everything was just so good. My husband ordered a bloody mary and it was one of the best bloodys we've had. Perfect amount of spice and heat and tons of flavor. I got a beer from their great seasonal craft beer list. Even though the restaurant was packed, we were able to sit right away and our server took our order right away and our food came out fairly quick. My husband and I were already talking about coming back for another meal as we were eating! I highly recommend this place!
Cool things about Lodge:
-2-for-1 drinks at brunch (bloody mary or mimosa) with decent pours
-They have tater tots
-There's a Nintendo inside in case you get bored
-Your dog can sit with you outside
-Chorizo breakfast tacos are just…heaven
Not-so-cool-things about Lodge:
-Inattentive service. It wasn't particularly crowded when we went, but we were outside which is probably why we were forgotten. :'(
I'd still go back for those tacos though…
I love Lodge's takeout spot, right next door. It always has great smoothies, sandwiches, and wraps.
I came into the restaurant once for dinner and again for brunch. The place is really cool. It reminds me of an 80's camping lodge. The service here is always great. The Illegal Drugs cocktail is fantastic. For dinner, I've had the Shrimp Po'Boy and Fish Tacos. For brunch, I had the Alaskan Benedict ($13 – smoked salmon & capers). The food is not the best. All dishes I've had really lack in flavor. I'd recommend getting take out from the place next door! They share the same kitchen, but the food there is better.
Ya know, this place has been warming up to me over the last few months. It still isn't the most inventive menu on the planet but the staff is friendlier and food is pretty damn good.
I love this place. I love that they have NES. And I love that they have free wings on Mondays.
I Truly enjoy going to the lodge it has a great weekend brunch vibe and a great place to grab some grub on the weekday. The food is pretty good you can't really go bad with the Lodge menu so many options. I love the kale Cesar salad with steak, yum yum! A plus for the Lodge is the friendly staff as well.
