I was completely ready to throw epic shade when my friend decided she wanted to do karaoke night here (not a fan of karaoke) but this spot made it ok.
There space is divided- one side is much more open with VIPesque seating that have comfy couches and curtain sectioned off, dance floor and bar. We went on a Thursday (not sure what goes on there from night to night) but the side we were on played house music until karaoke started.
Although the bartenders are not professionally trained I think it worked to our benefit- they were generous with the alcohol going into the drinks and they were really good. I hate when I go to a bar and they follow the recipe and you end up with a soft drink—IcouldaStayedHomeForDat. The prices are more than reasonable (5.00 for a small tequila sunrise, 8 for a large) but they charged me 1.00 for a small cup of water which was really irritating.
The food is what did it for me (no surprise there lolol). Talk about e'rythang my soul needed! My friend got the Salmon platter with yellow rice and collard greens and it was so good I had to order my own platter. I ordered steak w/ onions, macaroni and cheese and green beans. The mac n cheese was not good at all but everything else was absolutely divine. The portions were huge ( I had left overs) and the prices were ridiculously fair. Prices ranging from 12-18.00. I hear they have crab nights- may have to check that out.
Karaoke was cool- the DJ was good at keeping the flow moving. When it was over the security guards got super aggressive about cramping everyone into the more bar themed area. It is a tight squeeze, had no interest in staying so people can step on my toes all night. That being said, the area was very nicely decorated, big tv screens, hookah and of course a bar. The music was good (hip hop) and the crowd was definitely having a good time.
Don't think I'll be back simply because Im not a big paritier but I will definitely be eating there again—even if its a pick up and go.
