Friendly's has gotten a bad rap for years. But honestly when I'm in a jam they have always come through. Let's face it – you don't go there for a steak dinner.
I am an event planner and have used their party room for "morning after" breakfasts so everyone can see each other after a reunion or other event. They have accommodated us with last minute requests for their room for up to 25 people just "showing up" and have given us great service.
there are no diners that will accommodate all those people and most will give you dirty looks and try to push you out if you are talking too long. They let us stay there for almost 3 hours
What a great group and the waitress handled all 25 of us with a smile!
For a chain, not bad. Not bad at all.
Friendly's is extremely kid friendly as most of you know already. This place was my absolute favorite when I was little. I loved their ice cream. Saturday, my boyfriend and I took his niece here (she's 6) and it was her first time ever. I couldn't believe it. I used to beg my mom to come here. She used to use it as a bribe to get me to behave. She even knew the location of every Friendly's in Bergen and Passaic county just for me. I can't believe kids these days don't like Friendly's or never even heard of it!! That's just preposterous.
Coming here for the first time as an adult, this place stirred up a lot of memories. My expectations were low because it's a chain and it's not like my 5 year old self had the elite taste in food like I do now. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. The wings appetizer was great. They're not breaded which is just the way I like them. Fried really crispy and smothered in hot sauce. My turkey avocado wrap was surprisingly delicious. They didn't skimp out on bacon and the avocado was ripe and fresh. My boyfriend got the chicken fingers. They were good too but very bready. Which wasn't a bad thing just not my preference. Still the whole meal was enjoyable.
Their ice cream and dessert options are definitely the best thing about this place. Oh yea and their peanut butter sauce kicks ass.
