I have had this place on my list and finally decided to try it. It was Ehhhhhh okay. They had nice seating area inside and seemed very clean.
My order: BROOKLYN HEIGHTS- mac and cheese w/ steak. Not sure if it was the way they marinated the meat but it was not very good. My dish was very cheesy a bit salty but again nothing special. I ordered a small with a Can of soda for $10. Ummm not really worth it. My co worker ordered the Greenpointer- broccoli & kielbasa. His dish was actually better and if I ever go back( I probably wont) but if I do, I would order this one.
I've been searching for a replacement for my favorite mac & cheese restaurant since moving to NYC from the Bay Area (if you're ever in Oakland, definitely check out Homeroom!)
This place didn't have the greatest reviews, but I happened to be in the neighborhood, so I thought I would give it a try. I ended up building my own mac and I felt like it was pretty overpriced for what it was — a glorified Kraft macaroni & cheese.
Service was quick, as I was the only one in the restaurant. Overall, this mac wasn't very memorable at all. The search continues!
NOTE: This is a review for their delivery. I've actually never had the pleasure of coming to this place in person.
Brooklyn Mac offers a selection of different blends of Mac and Cheese (one of the most wonderful food creations on this planet). There are many meat-based options, and also plenty of vegan options. They're also gluten-free for those that are sensitive to such. As I'm not vegan nor sensitive to gluten, I've never tried those when placing my delivery.
I've always been pretty satisfied when trying out the different blends of mac n' cheese. I'm particular to the Red Hook, which features bacon and smoked gouda. Love, love, love!
The delivery timing is pretty quick. They're always within 40 minutes, and I've ordered from here at least ten times now. Never had a mishap or anything with delivery, no horror stories to recall off.
Check it out / order from here sometime! If you're a Mac n' Cheese enthusiast, that is.
I have lived in the vicinity of this Brooklyn Mac for as long as they have been open. I made a mental note to try them at some point but when I saw the negative reviews, I stayed away.
Serves me right for not trying it out for myself. My fiancé and I have been missing out!
For starters, mac and cheese is straight comfort food and this is not your boxed mac. Its also no fancy pants stuff either. But dammit if this stuff isn't delicious- I don't know what is.
For starters, there is literally something for everyone. The menu is albeit small but with vegan, gluten free and even customizable options, it doesn't get any better than that!
I got the Red Hook which was a bacon and smoked gouda mac while my fiancé got the Kings County with Cheddar and American Cheese. We opted out of breadcrumbs or cornflakes and did not regret a thing. The delivery took about 25 minutes on a sunday night and we both ordered medium sizes.
The portion did not look overwhelming but have you ever eaten this much mac and cheese in one setting? Good Lawd.
The top of the mac had a delightfully browned "crust" and I don't know about you but I happen to love cheese that has been a little charred. They aren't stingy with the cheese either.
We will definitely be ordering again. My fiancé only wishes that had sides of meat… but that's just his inner caveman talking.
worth trying out if you're in the area and need some quick food delivered. we got one with a bunch of different veggies in it – it was pretty great ! baked, so the top was a bit crusted.
I appreciate their vegan and gluten-free options. It's neat-o that they offer a vegan alternative for nearly every meat add-in.
Sadly, I'm not a Daiya fan, so I knew this mac wasn't going to blow my mind, but I wanted to try it anyway. It was better than I expected. I will say that the add-ins were pretty meager. My mac had pico and chipotle sauce in it, but I couldn't taste the chipotle and the pico was minimal. I only noticed it when I bit into an onion (because it still had some crunch to it).
I loved the portion size. I ordered the small, and I left feeling satisfied and not at all bloated, which is pretty remarkable for a pasta dish.
I didn't have any service/time problems like others mentioned.
The mac is good but they lack when it comes to delivery. I live a half mile away and they won't deliver to me (bushwick/bedstuy border) while other places that are 1.8 miles away will happily come deliver.
Decent place for your Mac and cheese craving. I got the veggie "bayridge" to go and it was delicious. The ingredients were evenly spread out which is important because you wouldn't want all mushrooms on one side and not the other! It's baked in an aluminum pan so if you can't finish it in one sitting, you can put it in the oven the next day.
