Sarabeth’s Bakery

“Love the buttermilk biscuit and raisin scones which I have with their preserves.”

“It's one of the better marmalade I've had and even my picky parents liked it so I bought them a jar as well.”

  1. The most economic cup of coffee inside Chelsea Markets can be found at Sarabeth's. Delicious with a fresh-baked cookie accompaniment.

    Tips:
Plenty of in-store seating for being inside Chelsea Markets but why not sit in the long hall of the market to people watch?!
Great-looking boxes of cookies and compotes to gift!

  2. During my first visit to Chelsea Market, we were on the hunt for desserts to complete  our girls' brunch in. Sarabeth's looked promising so we purchased a variety of mixed goods, but they received mixed reviews. The Hibiscus Pineapple + Almond Tart was excellent, as was the Chocolate Truffle Cake (heavily orange flavored, which was not apparent from the name). The Ginger Pecan Tart and the Pumpkin Tart were fine, but really not that exciting for the price point.

  3. Continuation of our "eat through Chelsea Market" tour and my friend and I saw Sarabeth's Bakery and knew we had to try something there.

We were pretty full by the time we reached Sarabeths so we ordered only small bites. I tried the mini biscuits. Cute size and they would be delicious with jam and warmed up. (Small size is 50 cents.)

Also tried their Chocolate Chubbies (1.50 each). Rich chocolate center and the decadence of the chocolate is balanced by the walnuts and pecans. Definitely a great chocolate indulgence that wont leave you sad if you were trying to keep fit. They're a perfect bite.

My friend noticed a 6inch chocolate souffle. Looked really good but we were too full to buy a whole souffle and try it out. The staff said sometimes "she" (The proprietor) will sell slices of the souffle but they don't know when. Hopefully when you stop by it'll be one of those days! Check it out, you wont be disappointed.

  4. I always come here for the farmers breakfast muffin. It's a corn muffin with kale, cheddar, pancetta and a hard boiled egg in the center. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else. They stop serving them around noon, so you have to go in the morning, which makes them even more elusive. The coffee is always great too.

  5. Always busy so don't expect customer service. But I do understand because of the traffic. I like most of the pastries except the truffle cake. It's not strong, not chocolaty enough. But the scone the biscuit the betheos are all great! A little expensive but good for the value over all.

  6. We had coffee, hot chocolate, an egg muffin and a buttermilk biscuit. Drinks were average, the muffin that was bad  (cold and tasteless) and the biscuit seemed old. Not what you expect in a bakery at 9 in the morning.

  7. One of my favorite smell is the smell of a bakery…i always have some werid cravings and most of them involves sweets…The smell of sarebeth bakery is one of the few memories I have when I visit Chelsea market…

cute cozy bakery located inside Chelsea market … the aroma always what  lure me in..came here twice and it's always over crowed..there two table seatings and a huge line inside this tiny bakery… There products aren't the best…but it is made fresh daily.. I love there packaging and how cute and delicate there pastry look..makes you want to try there products out based on how everything looks..I got two mini raspberry muffins and a slice of lemon pound cake… The lemon pound cake was moist and flavorfully…the two mini raspberry muffin wasn't that great… It was somewhat dry… The flavor was Okies.. I will come back and try there entrees and other dessert…why not everything smells delish !

  8. A throughly enjoyable breakfast experience! We visited Chelsea Markets bright and early at 7am and were shocked to find almost every store/cafe closed as we where too early! But we followed the amazing smell drifting out of Sarabeth's Bakery and I was so glad we did. A truly welcoming and beautiful place to sit and relax over cup of coffee and some delicious food. It is not formal cafe and functions more as takeaway bakery but the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. The indoor seating has beautiful views of kitchen and we had the opportunity to ask bakers what they were making inside. A calm, cool and relaxing atmosphere. You order at the front and food is served at counter so no pressure to tip waitress (something that is not common in Australia). A really lovely morning. The only downside was all good was served on plastic plates and coffee in coffee cups rather than reusable items.
