“I enjoy their brunch menu as well, but mainly come here for the juicy burgers.”

“This was one of the first pubs I went to when I moved to the Upper East Side nearly five years ago, and it NEVER disappoints.”

“I ordered the Gaelic Burger (Cheddar, Irish Bacon, Sauteed Onion, Lettuce, and Tomato) while at the bar, and it came out pretty fast.”

  1. Fun fact. Had arranged with friends to meet at the corner 88 and 2nd, and then they were to show me their best neighbourhood  place. As I was early I walked around the crossing to find the best and cosiest place for my wait. Found this place and when they arrived it turned out that this was the place they had planned to show me.
I can only agree! This is the best of the best!

  2. Like I always say, I've never been disappointed at Genesis. They get my order correct. Fast service, filling food, great atmosphere. I always leave happy!!
Today I had the Turkey Club, sooo good!
    Fresh food!
And my favorite Sweet Potato Fries!!
    No Room for Desert!
My daughter had the Cobb Salad! I took home the shell from her salad. I'll fill it up for lunch tomorrow. The shell is the best part to me!!
Don't come and eat up everything! Leave some for me! I'll be back!

  3. I've been to the Genesis Bar quite a few times now and I've always been pleased by the experience.   Good food, good beer, attentive staff …. not sure what else you could ask for or expect.

Last night my girlfriend and I were not in the mood for anything substantial so we just ordered the sampler platter for the table.   It consisted of potato skins, mozzarella sticks, chicken tenders and buffalo chicken wings.

I was very impressed by the fact that the wings actually a real kick to them.  Too often now a days bars are dumbing down their buffalo sauce in order to make them sweeter.   I don't like my buffalo wings to be sweet, so this offering made me very happy.  In case you can't tell, I'd highly recommend them.

So as to make sure I do not mislead anyone — Genesis has a full regular menu to choose from.  You aren't limited to traditional pub fare.  They seem to have a bit of everything — so no one should ever leave this place unhappy.  I've had a nice assortment of dishes at Genesis and have never disappointed.

This has essentially become my go to local bar to hang out at when on the UES.  On the occasions I have been there, the place has never been too crowded, and I've always been able to find a table or a space at the bar.   I've never been one for the "this place is so packed, there is no room to move" or "i can't hear anyone else talk without yelling" scene, so Genesis gives me exactly what I am looking for.

Whether it be brunch, lunch or dinner .. Genesis is a great place to try.  I really do highly recommend it.

  4. We were pretty much regulars here when we used to live just upstairs. We've always had a good experience here with their menu, happy hour rates and great service. My favorite thing to order is actually the Korean style chicken wings. The closest to the original Korean fried chicken outside of Korea Town. The servers are mostly Irish too, which makes the "Irish" pub/restaurant experience more authentic. This time we came for dinner, the weekend of Labor Day and it was a few weeks after moving from the neighborhood that we miss so much. It was the usual warm welcome and we picked a table outside facing the street. I ordered a burger this time and so did my husband. We had happy hour margaritas too, which not only tasted nice but were nice and strong. Everything was great up until I saw something that suspiciously looked like a long piece of stubble. (You can judge for yourselves in the photo). I was going to tell our server but that was the time when she didn't come around our table. The bus boy however was eager to clean up our table. I then stupidly told the bus boy instead and he proceeded to take my fork and break it into pieces and say that it's proof that it isn't a piece of hair. That might be justifiable enough, but I still though maybe the hair got fried together with the fries and that's why it's texture changed. Whatever it is, it is still a good spot, but I'll always question whether that was a piece of hair or not. Cheers!

  5. Great service for drinks, enough tvs to be able to watch sports. I ordered the filet mignon and I tasted great I just need to remember medium rare in the north is medium everywhere else. Other friends got burgers and sandwiches that looked great.

  6. Irish pub with a good selection of food menu. Their shepherd's pie is really good while their Irish breakfast comes with a great deal of goodies to kick start your day. We didn't drink during our visit but noticed a good selection of draft, bottle and craft beer. Ranges from $6 to $8 or so. Did not see any happy hour menu for that. One thing I wasn't a fan of is the $3/soda and it is per soda. No re-fill. That's not really common at least for me. Soda is cheap stuff, re-fill should be included.

This bar is very spacy, should be good for games. A lot of tv everywhere to catch bball or hockey or some sports…

Shepherd's pie is our reason to be back!

  7. The service is meh, but the food…just WOW. Delicious. I've been to Genesis at night before to grab a couple drinks and it's a sleepier place, but so many people I know have raved about the food so I needed to see what it was all about. My friends and I started with a couple glasses of wine ($5 for happy hour) and the spinach artichoke dip which was a good sized portion for three people and delicious. For my meal I got the panko crusted goat cheese salad and added grilled chicken. Absolutely delicious. The balsamic combined with the grilled chicken and delicious goat cheese was perfect. We also shared a side of sautéed spinach and it was amazing! Next time I want to try the infamous burger…YUM.

  8. Oh I really love this place!! Actually I came here by accident….my boyfriend and I were on our way to a different bar down the street but decided to come into Genesis on a whim. It was raining that afternoon, otherwise we would have sat in their cute outdoor area.

I liked that they have 2 menus, a "bar" menu, and a regular menu. Although if you sit at a table you can still order from the "bar" menu which has typical drunk snacks like mozzarella sticks and jalapeno poppers. Their lunch menu was pretty big, and lots of dishes had an Irish twist. Feeling pretty unadventurous we went for a cobb salad and burger. The portions were H.U.G.E. Really and truly. How many times do you hear someone say they couldn't finish their salad because it was so big and filling (and delicious!)?

Will definitely be back to munch and drink in their outside area. Thanks Genesis!
