This is a decent diner. We went for a Sunday afternoon lunch with a bunch of kids. The service was okay, if a bit slow at times. Our waiter was very friendly and understanding with our brood.
We all had wraps, veggie & Mediterranean and they were good. The kids had pancakes which they seemed to enjoy.
All in all an okay dining experience.
The bathrooms were very clean.
I don't know, I think a lot of the below reviews are harsh, or are based on unreasonable expectations. I think my wife and I ate here (to-stay) maybe twice. Why eat here to stay when there are plenty of better options in the area? Do take-out instead. I'm sure the to-stay service is passable, but that's what diners are for, and Gracie even has its own diner a few blocks away (Gracie Mews – the same people). I frequently get the chicken gyro, it's pretty good. Egg sandwiches are hit-and-miss, usually fine, but when you get a bad egg sandwich it ruins your morning. The place is run better when the guys are there (the tall guy and the other guy, last I saw him he had spiky hair. I think they might be brothers.) When the woman is running the show, things are more chaotic. Anyway, I use Gracie mostly for breakfast and lunch pick-up orders, and I'm happy enough to keep going back. I'm not sure it's good enough for four stars, though … sorry, guys.
This place is what it is. You can stop in and get a bagel, a salad or some coffee and get it rather quickly. I've been here a couple of times to get a salad. It's nothing special and slightly overpriced, but it's the only salad place withing a 3-block radius of my friend's place. Also, the service has always been exceptionally friendly here. I don't know if I would actually sit to eat here, but it's a good grab-and-go spot. Their bagels are insanely overpriced though ($2.99 for a plain bagel with cream cheese)?!?
This cafe was the first place that me and the misses went to eat at after a lengthy bus ride from D.C… it was a good way to start off the New York part of our vacation! (:
We just checked in to our at-first shady looking hostel which ended up being pretty cool! We decided to take a walk and find a restaurant on the way and we stumbled across this cafe.
The burgers were pretty hefty and the fries looked amazing at first sight. They were the perfect color. The fries were golden, had colors of spice, and were that good-looking orange.. I hope you get what I mean. The portions looked great, and the prices weren't bad either. After kind of arguing about what kind of food we wanted, we decided to eat here.
The waiter gave us a seat outside, a totally new experience to grub near the sidewalk! I ordered the Texas burger which had a fried egg inside, and $2.00 more for veggies/fries. SO WORTH IT! My girlfriend enjoyed her burger a lot too. It looked good (minus the fungus aka mushrooms, ew). The patty was charbroiled perfectly and the fries lived up to what they looked like, mmm! Everything was great, except our water refill was kind of lagging… but my girlfriend and I both agreed that it seriously tasted like bottled water, so it evens out. We got water because the only beverages they have are bottled drinks.
Definitely coming back to this place again :]
