The buffalo wings here are good. It's a decent bar in the 60's but really nothing to write home about. They don't have free refills here on soda (or at least last time I was here they didn't) so that was strange.
It's a local place where my friends and I go for a good happy hour and bar food. I does what it's supposed to do: average food and good drinks! Gets packed for soccer/rugby games so get there early if that's the reason for your trip!
Update: Great happy hour, good dinner food, and fun bar trivia on Wednesday nights!
Definitely swing by for trivia night! It's a lot of fun and you can win gift cards to Baker Street. There are also free drink questions, where you submit your answer to the question and the host will randomly draw an answer out of a bag.
Last time, I had the bangers and mash- delicious. This time I had the chicken pot pie, which was not exactly what I expected. Delicious, but it was deconstructed. Will definitely be back for happy hour and trivia night!
They serve food until pretty late, so I lucked out trying to get some comfort post-drinks food after midnight. They have the bar area to the front, but a nice seating area for dining in the back. There are flat screen TVs mounted everywhere, so it must be a nice place to watch some football.
In any case, I got the appetizer platter with my friend, which came with fried chicken, onion rings, spicy wings. SO GOOD. The onion rings were quite good because the breading was thin. You can completely taste the onion. The wings were hella spicy. And the chicken tender, which looked like large fries, was deeply satisfying. The whole thing was $18, which I would say was expensive for what we got, but I figured I was paying for the convenience of eating this late.
Service was excellent.
What a hidden gem!! I came here for dinner and drinks with friends from the area. They said they never really eat there, but I'm positive they will now. The Mac and cheese bites were out of this world!!! I just don't think anyone could compare. I got a quesadilla and it was on point. It is a great English pub!!
This review is for TRIVIA ONLY: Adam runs a FANTASTIC trivia here every Wednesday from 8-10 pm. Great mix of questions- not too easy (i.e. Mad Tim's up north) and not too hard (i.e. Van Diemen's in Murray Hill). He also keeps scores a secret until the end so you don't lose interest (if you suck, like we sometimes do). There are intermittent free drink questions and he gives you small bonuses if your answers are hilarious.
For everything else, it's 4 stars: the beer selection is great, the food is average/slightly above average, and the wait staff is courteous. Would say that the food prices are a bit steep for the portions, but otherwise no complaints!
Went there on a weekday, when it was pouring outside. The ambience was quiet and dry. All we needed it.
As soon as we arrived, the waitress told us to pick our table and so we did. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, when I made the order I asked for the sauce to be on the side because it was spicy, but they forgot. I had the classic Baker burger and the sauce was all over the tomatoes, the bun and the lettuce. What a mess. For some people is fine, but I'm very careful when I even get a kick of spiciness on my food. I dislike it a lot.
Anyway, the waiter never came back to check how the food was so I cleaned the sauce off and dealt with it. I didn't die.
We had also the Mac and cheese bites that were soooo delicious. So that made me feel better about my eating experience there.
The prices are very reasonable. The menu was very diverse and the place had a good vibe and music.
I would definitely come back, but I'll have the kick of spiciness on mind and this time I won't be quiet. So, that is why I'm giving them 4 stars. Sorry no sorry.
It was feet away from the comedy club I went to. On my way to catch a cab I stopped in for a quick drink. Never put an Irish bartender to serve a Trini because ain't nothing will be quick about that stop.
I ended up hugging another patron at the bar. A long hug.
Sidebar: this was long before the same sex marriage bill was passed. In my defence she hugged me first, I simply returned the sentiment. Americans are friendly boy! I also played therapist to her and her issues. Americans share easily boy!
When it came my turn to order I asked the bartender to surprise me and boy was I surprised! I was also shocked (that I was surprised), scared (that I wouldn't remember my name), and a weeee bit embarrassed.
I was served an innocent red kool aid looking drink. I tasted it, sweet and "hey did you put alcohol in this?"
I'm not a fan of sweet alcohol but this one tasted of hardly any alco and it was so nice! I asked for another and woke up about 33 mins later, wide eyed but so refreshed. This review isn't about me so I only have two things to say in my defense yet again
1: I also had a few at the comedy club
2: Sweet alco and I don't get along. Also I don't like vodka (which I found out was the poison). I never wanted to try flavoured vodka. I don't like vodka period (maybe it looks too much like water or white rum which I also don't like and as far as I know I had never had vodka before. Hahaha "as far as I know"……I sound like such a drunk.
The staff was friendly and accommodating I mean come on! I FELL ASLEEP!
The corner space is nice and large AND they comp you drinks just because.
A fun ending to a wonderful night.
The End.
Neighborhood pub, with nice variety on menu. I was part of a group of 6 people. The burger w/cheese looked delicious. The Manhattan clam chowder looked interesting. I ordered after seeing a fellow guest enjoying his (3) Ruben Sliders. It was good, not great, not going out of your way for. Of all the food I saw at our table, the cheeseburger LOOKED quite good, and my fellow guest was enjoying it. I tasted one of her fries, yes, with permission. Fry was not great, just ok.
My Ruben sliders did not have sauerkraut. They had pastrami & melted cheese, on a good, artsy, bun. Mustard in the jar was Grey Poupon. The mustard helped!!
The service was very nice, folks working hard.
I don't drink beer, no, not ever. I did see a very nice label on a bottle of beer—it was a blueberry sailor…it had a dog, Blueberry, sailor motif.
I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. I would try the cheeseburger next time, if I was there.
I think this is more of a burger n beer place pub, trying hard to branch out with more food selections, and there are lots of food choices on the menu. Interior was recently redesigned, I believe & looks very nice, especially for a neighborhood pub. If you are a drinker, & I'm not, I'd say give Baker Street a try. There are multiple TV Screens. I'd say, try the cheeseburger. Service staff was very nice & worked hard!
