A laid back diner-type atmosphere in a historic building: don't come here if you are expecting 5 star service (other reviewers seem to confuse the concept of a diner with high-end dining). There was a little coldness from the waiter but I chalked this up to what I usually find at diners with busy-ness. The food was decent, yes a little overpriced but what isn't around here, had the brunch menu which wasn't memorable but really hit the spot on a late morning after a late night, right down the road from Broadway tourists.
– overall rating 2.5
– came with a large group but were seated at 3 different tables, the other two tables received their food 20 minutes before we got ours
– $17 for a caesar salad (with chicken) is pricey, even for the area
– the bus-ers were very good about refilling our water
– my coworker's coke was completely flat
– my coworkers weren't impressed with their burgers, "bland" was the overall consensus
Stopped in for a quick glass of wine. Tried the gorgonzola and mushroom appetizer. It was good, but nothing to write home about. The polenta it came on was as bland as paper.
The wine was fine.
Came here for brunch last Saturday, the food was delicious but giving it a 3 for service. We had the French toast with bananas and sausage. The French toast was in the top 3 French toast I ever had, they were so sweet to the point of not needing syrup – delicious! The bananas on the top were excellent.
The service was poor, our waiter was very impatient with us – and no the place was not busy. I waited 10 minutes for a coffee refill after 2 different servers told me that they bring it right away.
There R plenty of other places to eat for me to revisit here the next time I'm in NY.
The main criteria for a brunch with visiting family was something nice near the PATH station on 34th street. Martinique was perfect. Nice atmosphere, ok service maybe a little touristy but otherwise just fine for brunch with a small group. I had the Greek omelette, and while I've certainly had better, it was fine. Hot tea was refreshing, and French toast I heard was also good. It was a very nice time with family guests. There is plenty of seating downstairs and upstairs, no wait and nicely appointed, clean bathrooms. All make for a good meeting place, just don't expect culinary wonders from the food.
So many choices in NYC, but we had breakfast here three days in a row. Yes, it was included with our hotel stay, but the service we received from the Maitre d', Belal, was the deciding factor.
Although somewhat chaotic during the breakfast/brunch rush, Belal remained welcoming and courteous, seating everyone as quickly as he could.
The brunch is served buffet style, and there were many choices.
There was a choice of eggs prepared in different ways, and I love the fact that they had scrambled egg whites, only. Bacon, ham, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, french toast, oatmeal, fresh fruits and vegetables are just some of the offerings.
Also coffee, tea and OJ.
And let me tell you, this staff hustles! Every employee I saw was busting their rump to serve the not always so pleasant customers. (What is it about a complimentary buffet that brings out the ugly in people??)
Thank you Martinique Cafe' for a delicious brunch!
After running around all morning & a little ride into Manhattan we were a little hungry for lunch. We parked the car & pretty much went to the first spot we saw & Martinique did not upset.
Cool , somewhat contemporary , clean dining room. Nice chill vibe with some upbeat music softly playing.
Carlos our waiter was very attentive , friendly at "at your service". Always there if we asked for something ( or if any other table next to us needed anything).
The food , from what we had (or even saw from other tables) was great. The wings weren't your typical wings- they had their little twist to them. The burger was thick and juicy. Salad seemed fresh.
No complaints at all. Very simple menu without all the fuss.
This place did the trick when my date and I were looking for something to eat near penn station, that wasn't IN the station or fast food. Overall not terribly memorable but service and food were decent enough to satisfy us.
