  1. This review is just for the food.  I've been a few times with people from work.  Service is always awful, food is almost as bad and a bit overpriced.

  2. There is a sky-walk from Newark Penn Station across to Gateway Center. I had some time to kill today – missed my train connection – so I took a walk.  Lots of retail shops there, including a Starbucks and the Market Street Bar.  Five taps – Yuengling, Miller Lite, Heineken, Sam Adams, one I did not recognize.  Several flat screens.  Small bar plus several tables.  Limited grill menu.  Good spot to visit if you need to kill some time. Much nicer than anything in Newark Penn.  The bar is part of the Hilton complex but not in the hotel.

  3. Sub par at best.

Working in the gateway we thought we would give this place a try. I thought maybe the previous reviews were jaded but they werent.

Burger was dried out but the fries were tasty. Beers seemed to have been a bit flat (possibly dirty lines?). Overall this place was overpriced and underwhelming.

    WIll probably not return

  4. Next to the Hilton with square tables and huge cutlery. God, what an awful experience. My friend and I went during the FIFA semi-finals and the wait completely proved that the servers and the chefs are hardcore soccer fans. Holy crap, it took 20 minutes to make my order and an hour and a half to make a SANDWICH with crappy fries. I was stuck awkwardly smiling at my friend for the next half hour because we just ran out of positive things to say. That really pissed me off. I should have just left.

I don't really remember what I got but I remember it smelling of grease and being pretentious yet disgusting at the same time. Seriously, I really give up eating in Newark. The 3 years I've ventured around here, I think I've found only 5 or 6 good places to eat at. The rest are pretentious, expensive with huge portions but its always a disgusting slop and, shit service. I'd rather wait an hour and a half in NY to get food worth waiting for.

  5. Stopped by this hotel bar in the Gateway Center on my way to the LMFAO concert tonight at the Prudential Center since it's really the only place to grab a drink between the PATH train and the Pru.

Coors Lites were $6 a pint and very undeserving of that price since there are bars in the area that charge a lot less. This is a tourist trap for people staying in the hotel or have no clue what else is in the neighborhood (me being the latter). We ordered onion rings, chicken fingers, and wings. The onion rings and chicken fingers were ok, but the wings were the sort that were just soaked in gross hot sauce and very unlike a crispy and flavorful wing.

The service was ok and the beer was cold, but I really can't give it more than 2 stars.

  6. Food was better than expected, but my expectations were low.

I mean, it's a hotel restaurant in Newark, New Jersey, you can't have high expectations from a place like this.

Prices were expensive.  Dinner and drinks for two was over $50 and that was with a groupon.

Buffalo wings were actually pretty good.  Everything else was OK, but was in portions that were too big and prices that were too much.

Won't come back, so many better options in Newark.
