Colicchio & Sons Tap Room
“I've had both the Niman Ranch Top Sirloin with Tuscan Kale & Bone Marrow Butter and the TC Burger with Drunk Onions, Pecorino, & Chips.”
“Last time we were there I had the butter salad and the burger and my husband had the skate – not a disappointed taste bud in the house.”
“Solid flavor in both dishes, but between the two- the Beef Tartare was absolutely killer.”

I'm giving 3 stars because every dish we had was delicious. However, I did not like the service whatsoever. We sat at the bar and I felt the staff was unfriendly and clueless from start to finish. I'm not sure if I would go back (possibly, just because I liked the food). I think this place is great for drinks and small plates after work. We had the buttermilk salad, streak tartare, octopus, and mozzarella. Good sized portions. They also had main course options. The bar area was not super crowded on a Friday night. I also loved the decor and atmosphere.
This pace was on my bookmark list for a long time. So unmemorable I forgot to post my review from a few weeks back.
The staff was nice and service was great. That was about it.
Food is very average. Much better choices in the neighborhood and prices were high for what we had.
On a Thursday night they were not busy and this place had no energy.
Hate to waste a meal when I am in NY. Oh well. The company was great so all good.
This was the most disappointing dining experience I've had.
Short version:
– Long wait time even with reservations
– Everything was too salty
– Dessert was horrible
Wait time –
I had reservations but had to wait about 20 minutes or so after my reservation time. Looking around, there were so many empty tables and that was even more infuriating. When they finally seated us, they didn't even bring us menus, so we had to wait even longer before we could order anything.
Dinner –
Everything was salty. Way too salty. Someone in the kitchen is mighty generous with the salt.
Grilled squid appetizer – Would have been good, but they gave us the tiniest squid possible and the sauce and beans around it was overly salty.
Duck confit – The duck was nice and cripsy on the outside, but everything else was way too salty.
Lamb burger – The lamb pieces were nice and tender, but the salad was too salty.
WHY IS EVERYTHING SO SALTY?
Dessert –
The waiter told us about a special they had – a red velvet and ice cream sundae, which we ordered. We got instead a very watery milkshake. Why tell us it's a sundae when it's really a milkshake? They ruined both red velvet and ice cream. Why would you mess up two delicious desserts that are perfectly fine by themselves??? Needless to say, I did not enjoy the "dessert" at all.
Bottom line: never coming back.
Beautiful, just gorgeous restaurant. I mean it's worth the price of admission just to see this place really. We came here for brunch, and it was a pleasant experience consuming our sold 3-star food in such a lovely atmosphere.
But make no mistake about it- things don't get much better than those 3-stars (no half stars here). And the wonderful ambiance comes at a pretty steep price (and you may leave hungry). I'm just saying.
Food and atmosphere are amazing here. Delicious seasonal menu, sourced from quality vendors and local when possible.
We sat at the bar at 9pm on a weeknight. We were promptly told the kitchen was closing soon and would need to order all of our food immediately. That wasn't a problem, as we were starving and ready to make choices. The service was lacking a bit – they weren't interested in speaking to us about the menu, or greeting us, it was simply, "have you decided?"
One star deduction, because as good as it is, it's pricey – pricier than it needs to be. I shouldn't be paying $25 for a glass of wine that retails for $26 per bottle.
This place is super nice for the food quality and ambience. Price is cheap compare to what they offer. I really loved their pasta and pizza. Here around 6pm we got the best spot and by the window and entire place just for us. Love it.
Colicchio and Sons was the top ranked place of the best place my friends and I ate at in NYC during our vacation and trust me, all we did was eat!
First of all, the ambiance of the entire place offered a relaxing, intimate, and modern feel. It was beautifully set up and the place looked amazing. I'm not going to lie, we found a photo of this place on instagram and that's what lured us here and it was exactly what we had expected when we arrived and more.
Second of all, the service here is outstanding! The first person to help us as we entered the restaurant to all the servers and waitresses we met throughout our dinner, to the last person who greeted us on the way out were all amazing. They were very accommodating, often checked up on us, and offered so much assistance. I can honestly say it is one of the best customer service I've ever experienced.
Lastly, lets cut to the chase. Is the food as good as the customer service and the ambiance?? The answer is yes yes yes! All the entrees that we ordered was flavored so wonderfully that I would never add or change a thing to it. It was filled with flavor that went together so well! (Seriously, even the bread was really good!)
– The dish my friends and I can't stop dreaming about and what I would highly recommend is the Roasted Foie Gras with Green Strawberries & Pistachios. I've had Foie Gras numerous times in my lifetime, but this place had one of the best ones I've ever had. It literally was filled with flavor as it melted in your mouth!
– Other dishes that I would highly recommend is the American Wagyu with Wild Onions & Trompette Royale Mushrooms, Spaccatelle with Ramps & Dungeness Crab, and the Duck with Fiddlehead Ferns, Carrot & Hon-Shimeji Mushrooms. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything here but those dishes were the ones that had me place a bookmark on here for life.
One of the thing I read about visiting NYC was experiencing a nice fine-dining restaurant and I would highly recommend that place to be here.
I had been meaning to go here for YEARS, and I finally got around to it last week. When I made a last minute reservation here for me and my buddy on a Wednesday night, I was surprised I could even get one, much less the exact time I wanted. When we arrived and the place was rather dead, I was even more surprised. This is Tom Colicchio, people.
The Tap Room is located at the same address as the "Main Dining Room," despite there being a separate business page for each on Yelp. The reason for the separate listings is because the menus are different, and to some extent, the ambiance is as well. The Tap Room is toward the front; the main dining room in the back. The tap room is a little more casual with slightly less fancy dishes at a lower price point. (As of this review, the most expensive entree in the tap room is $25 versus $32 in the main dining room.) Check out both menus before you sit down. They're very different.
The service and quality of the food in the tap room were both outstanding. We started with the short rib & crème fraîche pizza ($20). While delicious, it could have used a few greens, such as basil or arugula to cut through the natural grease of the short rib. For mains, my buddy was happy with his red snapper with shellfish, quinoa & sweet peppers ($25) and my spice-rubbed brisket with polenta & Tuscan kale ($24) was so tender, and all the ingredients blended so-well together.
My only complaint is the alcohol prices. The cheapest draft beer is $9, and that wasn't served in a pint glass. The cheapest glass of wine I could find was $14. Granted, all the draft options were craft, and I'm sure that glass of wine for $14 was a quality selection, but if their high booze prices keeps the price points down on the food, I probably shouldn't complain. This is Chelsea, after all. And this is Colicchio and Sons. And as an aside, I am insanely jealous of their wine rack.
