What a disappointing experience. Came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night around 9pm to try out a few signature dishes.
Of the ~8ish tables, 7 were filled with one waiting to be cleaned. We stood around for 10 mins before our presence was even acknowledged and the table was then cleared allowing us to sit.
No surprise that our presence was again ignored. Only one waiter for the night who kept apologizing as it was a busy night… truthful, considering every table was expectedly filled on a Saturday night, but hard to sympathize given the small size of the place.
The best part of the evening though, was my boyfriend was able to place a takeout order for a nearby restaurant (we wanted to try another dish before the restaurant closed), drive to pick up the food, and return in time for us to just receive water on our tables.
Eventually, when we did get served– we discovered they were 'out of chicken lollipops' i.e. the main reason we visited the place. We opted for schezuan chow mein, dim sum chili chicken, and lamb momos.
The momos tasted like they were frozen and recently reheated, the chili chicken had absolutely no flavor, and the chow mein, while not the best, was probably the saving grace of the meal.
While they get two stars for their inexpensive prices and decent portion sizes … save your money and appetite for other great places. We should've left as soon as we walked in, but lesson learned, won't be returning.
Szechaun Mirchi specializes in Indian Chinese food, which is basically Chinese food made with Indian spices. I love Chinese food. I also love Indian food. This couldn't have been bad. If you thought this was a takeout joint, you'd be wrong. The restaurant is a bit cozy, but it's pretty nice and you should try dining in.
I came for dinner on a Thursday, we were seated quickly. The service was average, I never felt rushed. Ordered chicken lollipops, chili crisp vegetables, szechaun chow mein (spicy hakka noodles), and the kofta ball manchurian. The chicken lollipops were good, especially with the creamy spicy sauce. The chili vegetables were sweet and spicy, but not very crispy. The sauce that came with the kofta ball manchurian was great, and the hakka noodle was chow mein with Indian spices.
The portion sizes are pretty large for the price, definitely worth it.
We were excited to find Indo-Chinese cuisine near our temp accommodation. Food was good and service was excellent. We tried chicken corn soup, chicken lollipop, Chilli chicken & vegetable Haka noodles. All the food tasted good – however pls keep in mind that Chilli Chicken is the curry based and not the dry version.
We ate here for the first time Friday night and it was so good that we decided to do take out from here on Sunday night (same weekend). We live 25-30 minutes away, but the food is just so delicious! This is our new go to place!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We got the American Chopsuey, Chicken Szechaun noodles, and paneer Szechuan which were all made to perfection!!
Food was very well cooked and had great spices. We had a nice time and will definitely be back! Byob. Liq store across the st from the resturant.
This is an excellent Indian chinese fusion restaurant. The prices are dirt cheap and you could easily feed a family of four here for less than 50 bucks. The szechaun fried rice was a massive portion and cost less than ten bucks. The chilli lamb was nicely executed and the chicken lollipops were excellent. My two complaints…. the sauce that came along with the lollipops tasted like salad dressing and I wish the entrees were spicier. We asked for "extra spicy", but we got what the average person from south east asia would consider mild.
This was a good indo chinese place. The chicken lollipops were good. I also liked the chicken fried rice with chili chicken. The prices are very reasonable.
Its not a huge place. The service is also just OK but the food is very good.
Definitely be prepared for Indochinese fusion, and absolutely do not mistake this place for your typical Americanized-Asian restaurant. The flavors and spices are intense and deep– I underestimated their heat myself, but it was still delicious! They deliver and are very friendly, with fairly large portion sizes and reasonable prices. Do a bit of research/don't be afraid to ask questions, I don't expect most people in the area have ever had anything like Szechaun Mirchi before!
