  1. Since I tried this place out last week, I've already gotten dinner from here twice! The first time, I ordered from Yelp and went to pick it up, and the second was delivery. The things that attracted me to Domo Taco were a) the decent prices, b) the close proximity to my apartment, and c) how freaking good everything looked on the menu!

Nothing about this place disappoints me. So far I've had the Tempura Fish Taco, which is so damn delicious, the Tempura Fish Burrito, which was seriously filling and I am thinking about ordering it again soon, and the Tempura Fish Quesadilla. OK, so I love fish — sue me!

My favorite was the Quesadilla, because it didn't mess around. It was so filling, it took me two seatings to finish it — plus it was under $10. That's INSANE. Go to Domo!!!

  2. One of the better Asian fusion taco places. Love the Japanese tots and the five spice pork burrito. The teriyaki steak is delicious too, not too sweet. Go with spicy, it tastes like the Korean red pepper sauce and does not burn. Friendly staff and quick service. $3 draft beers too!

  3. So the actual taco truck has 3 stars and that seems about right for the food.  I subtracted another star for the decor.

I like interesting food.  I love eating out.  I love Mexican food.  I love Japanese food.  Domo Taco totally rubbed me the wrong way.

You know that scene in the old Apple commercial that's supposed to remind you of 1984 with people all in a line looking depressed and this giant head looming over everything?  That's kind of how the decor and lighting of this place is.  Greyish mental hospital colored walls don't really make me feel welcome (long story, don't ask) nor do they make me feel particularly hungry.

Stopping in on a restaurant's first week usually isn't a good indication of how the food will be but if anything, it should be when the staff is excited to see you.  Especially when the place is empty.  But that's not how it went on my visit.  The people were aloof and not at all helpful even when I specifically asked for help.

The food was also super disappointing.  I ordered a pork taco at the suggestion of the cashier and the nacho tater tots.  Neither were particularly good.  If you put a gun to my head, I would choose the tater tots as the better dish, I guess.  The tater tots sounded SO interesting with hints of okanomiyaki and nachos on top of tater tots!  What's not to like?  The actual taste, is what.  It was overwhelming with the cheese and the bonito flakes and the tonkatsu sauce.  I would much rather have had all the sauces on the side in retrospect.

The pork taco was maybe worse…I think it was supposed to come with other stuff but it was a giant plop (yes, that's the right word to describe it) of what seems like sloppy joe mix from a bad elementary school cafeteria on a tortilla with nothing else.

In the end, I think I would rather eat the vintage clothes that used to occupy this space.

  4. I'm torn on this place. We ordered Domo Taco rather late at nice, pretty close to their closing time. We ordered on GrubHub, but then checked with the restaurant to make sure it was OK, and to verify the very long delivery time that showed up. The man who answered the phone was very nice and accommodating.

For some reason (and I blame GrubHub for this, not Domo Taco), even though we ordered at 10:30pm and the restaurant closed at 11:00pm, the delivery estimate was 12:15am. I was able to verify from the restaurant that the GrubHub delivery man picked up the order a little before 10:50, and after calling GrubHub a few times, was able to get it delivered by 11:30. Still seemed like a long time for a restaurant a block away!

The taste of the food was pretty good. We ordered 2 tacos, 1 chicken and 1 pork. While I can't remember which was which, one stood out as more flavorful and the other was a little boring. We also ordered a teriyaki steak bowl. Unfortunately it was delivered as a teriyaki steak burrito, which we has specifically not ordered because my fiance doesn't like flour wraps.  The burrito flavor was good, though, and I enjoyed it.

We also ordered the japanese nacho tots, and those were really interesting. The flavor combination was very different, but seemed to work.

I think overall, this is a cool fusion idea for a place and maybe I'd stop in if I was in the area and hungry. I probably wouldn't order delivery again and I'd look elsewhere if I was craving great tacos. I would be willing to try a few of the other more interesting fusion items, since the japanese nacho tots were tasty.

  5. Came here with my cousins to check this place out since we heard good things about the food on their truck. We ordered the kimchi falafel taco (probably my favorite of the three tacos we ordered – I do love falafel and kimchi but who knew they tasted so well together), tempura fish (not sure if the fish was crispy or the veggies were crisp), and five spice pork (eh since I'm not a meat person). The tacos are a lil pricey but then when you see the size of these things, I didn't even know how to hold it. Highly recommend the sriracha wings – so tasty and that ranch sauce is soo good even though I don't usually use it. We also ordered the Japanese nacho tots which is pretty much takoyaki but instead of octopus it was tater tots – the bf loves tater tots and this totally made his day. The roc fries look like a Chinese rice dish with egg and ham (pink pickled radish) and oddly but pleasantly kinda tasted like it too. Empanadas were kind of like Japanese curry puffs but don't be afraid to to make the curry flavor a little bolder! .. in the end, we actually ordered the kim chi falafel quesadilla cos we liked the kim chi falafel so much but not a fan of the cheese, well it was too much cheese. I actually like their sweet & spicy sauce – tried to figure out what was it in –  gochujang and maybe hoisin sauce? And is this miso cheese? So interesting 🙂 also if you want, I did enjoy my white sake sangria

  6. I want to marry the five spice pork and make babies with it and then eat them all. The flavors are so amazing and authentic that it transports me back to being in Asia. Delivery is always on point and quick from Domo. I wish I could review more items, but all I ever order is the pork because it is like crack.

  7. Decent food and right off the subway stop, so I end up picking this up after work fairly frequently. The horchata is good and I really like the quesadillas. Not a big fan of their burritos – I feel like you pay a decent amount and there's not a whole lot in it. Overall, it's a pretty good Mexican place and I appreciate the convenience.

  8. Stopped by for food before bar hopping after running nearby on the Yelp app. The set up was nice, line went by quickly and orders seemed to be pretty timely. I was torn between the Fish Tempura bowl or Quesadilla decided to go with the quesadilla. Great choice, checked in for my free draft as well. (Laguintas IPA, score!)

Patio was a big plus although we ate in. Food was good, no true wow factor but I definitely enjoyed it. Plenty of outlets here as well.
