“The food delivery is not as fast as in Manhattan, where it's whisked over on a bike in 10 minutes.”

“*Awesome sesame chicken, dumplings, scallion pancakes, szechuan wontons, sweet and sour chicken etc. etc.

A few bucks pricier than the lower quality ghetto stuff, but WELL WORTH IT!!!!!”

“- After dinner, hop over to Cannelle Patisserie for their apple turnover.”

  1. It is not compariable to Chinatown in Manhattan or Flushing or Brooklyn but if you want something quick and not expecting too much, it is a good place to visit.

They serve Shanghai dumplings and some dim sum (ha gow and shui mi) that are not bad.  This is a typical Westernized catered Chinese restaurant but when you are in a bind and want to grab something quick and don't want to fight to find parking, this is a good place to stop.

Service is alright, not super but still good enough for a fast Chinese food fix.  We stop by on and off for the reasons listed above when visiting my mom when there are only a couple of us.

There is also sit in aervice with about 15 tables and a full bar so if you wanted to stay and eat in you can.

  2. I've been coming here for years. It is one of the best Chinese take-out food I've ever had. The food is fresh and the prices are reasonable. My favorites are the General Tso's chicken (white meat only) and chicken or beef with broccoli (sometimes I add black mushrooms). I also like their pork dumplings and pork with pickled cabbage noodle (request mei fun) soup. The staff is very friendly, especially the delivery man who always speaks to me in Chinese, even though I respond in English.

  3. As a kid, my family used to take me to a Chinese restaurant where this current restaurant is located.  This could be the same restaurant, or it could have a new owner, or have had several new owners since then.  As a kid, I enjoyed going here.

A few months ago, I returned here with my cousins.  We had a great time and the food was decent.  Two months ago, I came here with my mom for lunch.

Previous reviews have said it, and I will repeat it: this restaurant is more Americanized  Chinese food.  This is not to say that it is bad, because it certainly isn't, but if you are looking for a more authentic place, you'd be better off going to Flushing or Chinatown.

For example, they have soup dumplings here.  I thought they were pretty good, but the ones at Joe's shanghai (both in Flushing and Chinatown) are much better.

Regarding the service, I can't complain.  The waiters and staff were very attentive.

I still have great memories of this place.  If I could, I would add an extra half-star.

  4. Came here for lunch on last sunday, have to say i was disappointed.  The calamari was way to bland, no flavor.  The beef pan fried noodle was way too salty.  The crystal shrimp dumpling was horrible!! The place didn't have dimsum… After the meal, i felt like i wasted 40 bucks:(   I really wanted to like it because then I can have a decent "chinese style" restaurant to go to nearby…

  5. My  sis and I, after a massive sugar attack from visiting Cannelle, decided that it would be wise to get some salt and protein. We espied this Chinese restaurant in the Walbaums mall, empty but for the waitstaff. Where was our brethren? Shouldn't all good Chinese restaurants be populated by Chinese at lunchtime?  Well, sis, convinced me to go in and it was fellow Yelper Sally, primo to fellow Yelper Rich W, whose review convinced me that the choice was sound.

Having stuffed my face at Cannelle, we decided to order just one noodle dish, the sea food pan fried noodle. The noodles were crispy, the sauce was not overly starchy, the sliced veggies(celery, snow peas, carrots) crunchy, and the seafood was so succulent and perfectly cooked that I had to forgive them for the liberal iuse of salt. Be careful what I ask for!

All in all, I would visit JJ Garden again. The waitstaff was courteous and efficient.

Tip: Just ask them for "not too salty"and I think the food would be terrific!

  6. Best chicken and broccoli in the world! Its located in the mini shopping center so stop in for som gd food. I have tried the soup dumplings and the pan fried dumplings.  Both r pretty gd

  7. EXTREMELY nice staff. All happily attended every table with a smile. The food was good. Can't complain about anything served.

  8. At first I thought they were just another Americanized Chinese take out place with a wide variety of take out options. But not until I had a sit down meal in the restaurant, my view was totally changed.

This is a Cantonese style restaurant where they offers many authentic Cantonese BBQ and southern old fashion dishes and stews.

My favorite was the stew options, I wanted all of them. I ended up ordering the chicken, black mushroom, with tofu stew which was absolutely tasty.

The Juicy little port dumplings (soup dumplings) were good too. You can't get them in a lot of places.

I also challenged and ordered the sweet and sour pork. However, I was disappointed to see they made it the Americanized way with bright orange watery sauce and fried pork dough balls.

Overall, I was happy about the food. The stew and soup dumplings were good. It's was just a little pricy.
