There are so many small things about Tisha's that could be executed better, and all these small things added up to make for a pretty average dining experience.
Our first warning should have been when we walked in for dinner on a Sunday to an empty restaurant. The restaurant a couple feet down in the same strip mall had a pretty bustling crowd, so you can't even blame the fact that it was Sunday.
The restaurant itself is very cute inside, but it was blasting AC. We ordered while shivering.
The food was not memorable, although I did really enjoy the lychee iced tea. My brother got the sweetened iced tea, which was surprisingly not sweet. While there weren't any gaping flaws in their menu or execution, there weren't really any standout options either. I initially wanted to stay for the souffle, but by the end of my meal, I just wanted to get back out into some summer heat and out of the arctic chill of the restaurant.
Our server spoke in a voice barely above a whisper and had us straining to hear the specials. He was very attentive, but to the point that he was too attentive. Because we were the only customers at the restaurant, I think he came around every 5 minutes or so to check in on us. His knowledge of the menu was not as thorough as we would have liked either. It may be a matter of a lack of experience.
Super cute place to bring your girls at. Literally. Portions are mediocre for you and your girlfriend so i wouldn't necessarily recommend bringing your boyfriend here haha. But i really did love the refreshments and the green tea souffle! Everything was prepared fresh and tasty ! Our waiter Jacob did a great job serving us and attended our needs when needed. He even held the door for all the guests leaving out the restaurant!
Sister restaurant to Thai Chef in Montclair and the newly opened Thai West also in Westwood. I've been there for lunch and for dinner. What they offer at both meal times is perfect for that time of day. The lamb chops on the special menu are great as are their special dumplings, they are a must try. Lunch is more casual, soups, salads, sandwiches and dinner is more formal, rack of lamb and great homemade dishes. Given their location , I feel they are a bit pricey. If that ever gets adjusted then this could be a go to spot. The decor is cute and trendy as are the dinner offerings. They staff was very pleasant. Dessert was wonderful and full of flavor, order the soufflé, especially if they have the green tea special,,very different flavor. They offer outdoor seating which is nice for lunch but watch out the parking spots in front are on 1 hr only meters and the cops do ticket!
Really nice staff that was super accommodating. I stopped in here late with my family a few months back since we had heard good things about this restaurant. Steak special that my dad got was really good. Pork chop special steammed mussels were not bad. I had the seafood gumbo wasn't bad either. Im glad we ordered the souffle when we first sat down because it was ready when we were ready for dessert. Would be back if I was in the area. Oh definitely make reservations next time..
My wife went here with some of her co-workers for lunch last week. The owner is a patient of hers. She was absolutely delighted with the food, service and decor as were her colleagues. Highly recommended!
Amazingly flavorful meal all the way around and the service was perfect. I had the dumplings to start. The were so juicy and every bite was tasty. Then I had the massaman curry shrimp, Wow!
