Went for Weekday Lunch Special
Food – 4/5. The lunch sushi buffet has a large selection of sushi and appetizers such as gyoza, katsu, teriyaki and pad thai. The sushi has great flavor for an all-you-can-eat sushi, although admittedly it is packed heavily with rice. Their fried items are nice and crispy and come out extremely quickly. The gyoza was surprisingly of good quality as the filling wasn't the typical frozen dumpling kind but instead the meat-packed Chinese restaurant variety.
Service – 4/5. Friendly, fast and polite. I came a bit after 2 PM for lunch and the service was still very attentive.
Price – 5/5. The price of $14 can't be beaten for a sushi buffet. Teaneck Sushi is great for when you want to fill your stomach with sushi on a budget.
Parking – Private Lot (Free)
Driving through the area, my boyfriend and I got hungry and came across this restaurant. While the service was decent, the waitress was friendly, the food was anything but fresh. My boyfriend did the sushi buffet while I ordered from the regular menu and ordered the sushi entree dinner. My meal was served with a choice of soup or salad and I decided to go with miso soup….. BIG MISTAKE. Not only did the soup smell of cleaning dish soap but clearly tasted of it, I could not spit it out fast enough. The actual meal came and my boyfriend sushi rolls were already falling apart on the plate before he had a chance to even pick them up, clearly poorly rolled and with no effort to fix it for presentation. My dinner on the other hand, let's just say it pasted it's peek of freshness. While it was "servable" it was far from enjoyable, and by far one of the worst cuts of fish (so thin that you can practically see through it, and a HUGE wad of rice). Also while walking out I took a peek at the fish at the sushi bar, I recommend cleaning the glass.. Its very unappealing.
Overall if your driving by, keep driving.
as ive become more of an avid yelper, my review here still stands. still the freshest sushi/seafood i've had, still an incredible array of options, and a great staff!
I enjoyed my lunch here today. I Was driving around while in the area looking for a spot to stop for lunch, came across Teaneck Sushi. I am surprised by the negative yelp reviews. I found the service friendly and fast, the place looked nice, sushi and gyoza were really good. Lots if smiles and thank you's as I was leaving!
I've been here quite a few times. I'm surprised that I haven't reviewed this place yet lol.
I'm not going to go out of my way and say that the food is anything spectacular, but it definitely satisfies a sushi craving. I wish they had eel sashimi on the menu, but their salmon sashimi is great and the Crunchy Eel roll is very tasty if you want your eel fix. The other special rolls with eel in it have mango either in or on top of it, and I'm just not a fan of mango anywhere near my sushi as much as I love mango on its own.
On the kitchen menu, I'd highly recommend the spicy seaweed salad, shumai, crispy calamari, and miso soup. Their yaki tori was okay and I really wanted to love the kalbi (Korean BBQ) here, but it was so thick and fatty and very difficult to chew. For dessert, I think the fried bananas really compliment the green tea ice cream every time. Yum!
I have to talk about the service though. It's all over the place.
There are 2-3 waitresses, depending on the night, who seem to not be assigned to any particular section and just go wherever they're needed. They have no sense of direction in where they're going when they're bringing food out to customers too – there's been quite a few instances where a waitress has stopped in the middle of our aisle, put a plate or two of food on our table that we didn't order, and just aimlessly walked over to other tables to ask if the food is theirs instead. Is there any type of organization here? How many times do I have to politely say "I'm sorry, we didn't order this" before they decide to take a look at the paper we placed our order on PRIOR to bringing our food out?
They also take a long time to bus tables for new customers walking in. I've even seen a waitress seat two women at a table that hasn't even been wiped down yet. They don't seem to sweep after customers leave either because the floor gets pretty dirty.
However, there's a very kind young girl that works here who is incredibly efficient and quick. Every time my boyfriend and I asked her for something like a tea refill last time we were here, she came back to our table right away with the big teapot to refill our drinks within a minute or two even though the restaurant was busy. Out of the all the ladies working here, you'd be lucky to have her wait on you. I made sure that the boss man knew how well she treated our table when we were leaving as I always acknowledge good food and service when it's deserving.
I know that based on the service alone, 3 stars seems a little generous but believe me, I've been to other AYCE sushi buffets in the area and the food quality here is definitely better than most.
THE BEST. Our go to spot for our sushi cravings. We cant wait to sit outside once they setup the tables. We are heading there today for a early dinner and I cant tell you how excited we are. Fish is always fresh, service is always quick and friendly, and the price is amazing for a AYCE. BYOB is a HUGE PLUS!
Mediocre at best. I went, despite some of my friends' words to avoid this place. I guess their hyping it down a lot made it seem better than it was. Knowing that, I went in with lowered expectations and this place managed to beat my expectations by a slight margin. The all you can eat option isn't a bad deal, for about $24 a person. Included are kitchen items, sushi/sashimi, and some special rolls. The kitchen items were actually not bad.. i didn't eat any of it, waiting for the sushi, but from what i saw, they looked like they're worth it.
The sushi comes out and of course, i'm a little disappointed. The sushi pieces bareelyyyyy have any fish on them with tons of rice. Kind of expected, but the saving grace was that they have the option to get sashimi! huzzah! the overload of rice on the sushi pieces are compensated by the sashimi pieces, thank god. the special rolls were ok, not all that special.
Not a bad place for ayce sushi, just order lots of sashimi with a few sushi pieces. The fish itself wasn't the best, but i've had worse. Another thing to remember is that it's BYOB, which makes it alllll better.
Nah…it's okay. I was pretty excited about checking this place out cause some of my fellow yelpers gave it some good reviews…..I ignored the bad ones. There was nothing memorable about the sushi here, nothing that stuck out. The sushi didn't taste fresh, infact it just tasted so bland that you had to either get that spicy mayo or smother it in soy sauce lol. My homey ended up sick after eating here and I felt guilty. Round one of whatever we ordered was okay, but once round 2 felt like the quality went down, now it could be I picked a bad day or the celebrating I did the night before altered my judgement but I'm going was 2 stars. There menu seemed as bland as the sushi. Not sure if it was sushi was any of that imitation stuff or just bar. Some items were decent but then after effects were not lol
Positive part here was
The service was great here.
I'd prolly never come back. Just too many better options for all you can eat sushi.
