So I noticed this place by my job a few months ago so I decided to try it on my dinner break. My ultimate verdict is that Woodmere needs a good Asian place because Pattaya and Masago just don't really cut it. Either that or my taste buds are crazy! If you want anything remotely Asian in Woodmere stick with Chen's even though they're more Chinese food.
The place gets three stars because the staff was really nice, the atmosphere of the restaurant is simple but pretty, very roomy, and extremely clean. The waitstaff was very helpful. I was the only one in the restaurant at the time but they came over to make sure I was doing okay and to attend to anything I needed quite a few times. They were terrific but when it came time to pay it turned into how many staff members does it take to charge a credit card? Ultimately they came back to me and used an ipad to charge my order because their credit card machine was broken.
The food was really fresh but it just wasn't very great. It wasn't the most awful food I've ever eaten either but nothing had any taste to it. I ordered the sauteed tofu with brown rice, the cucumber avocado roll and the vegetable spring rolls. Everything looked great and I could tell it was fresh but when it came time to taste it, to me the food was bland and tasteless.
This is a kosher glatt restaurant so it is an option for observant Jewish people to keep kosher and enjoy asian fusion but in my opinion this privilege comes at the cost of a tasteless meal.
So for me if I'm in the mood for any sort of Asian food by my job I'm going to stick to Chen's, Great Wall or Xaga. I don't think I'll be back here or back to Pattaya again at all.
