  1. OMG this place is so good! First time visitors and we tried it all: Mac n cheese fritters, house smoked wings, onion frizzles then pulled BBQ chicken (omg), and chicken sausage jambalaya. Yum…. Good professional service. We'll be back!

  2. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with a groupon. I was a little hesitant based on other bad reviews but I thought this place was great. We had a very nice server and he was attentive to our table (given, it was dead when we were there but still). This place serves SO much food for a good price. I had the St Louis ribs w mac&cheese and cornbread and my husband had wings and tips with baked beans and sweet potato fries. I LOVED my meal and the size of it could have easily fed 2-3 people it was so big. I even had enough for left overs. My husbands chicken was really good as well but I wasn't a fan of the tips (mainly cartilage) or the baked beans (it wasn't in a thick sauce and they tasted overly vinegary to me. I would def come back here for some good BBQ food.

  3. Came back again with another groupon. This trip was much better than the first one. I'll start off by saying the food was a lot better. But then again, my boyfriend and I were really really hungry so anything would taste good to us. We got the BBQ combo platter ($29) that came with 2 sides. The meat were nicely cooked, meaning it wasn't burnt like the last time. I got the mac & cheese which was extremely oily but tasted better than the last time. Not super amazing but good. I also got the sweet potato fries. My only problem with the food this time around was that it was salty! I was overwhelmed by the amount of salt my taste buds were sensing from the meat and the mac & cheese. The pulled pork wasn't salty like the ribs but it did lack flavor. Eating it with the bbq sauce they provided made it better.  My cornbread was dry and hard on the inside so I couldn't finish it. One key difference from the last visit is the meat we received. The last time we got chicken wings with the platter. This time it was replaced with sausage, which I enjoyed more than the wings. Still don't know how to feel about this place. I feel bad giving it three stars. It's a nice bar/restaurant with great live music. But get it together with the food! Can't really comment on the service. Nowadays when you have a groupon, the good service disappears.

  4. This place might have been good ten years ago…? The food is undesirable. I had ribs and they looked like they weren't cook properly. They were also tough (not anywhere near fall-off-the-bone, which in my opinion is how ribs should be) and the sides were just okay. The only thing I basically enjoyed was the fried Mac and cheese balls, but that's pretty hard to fuck up in general. The food took awhile to come out and our waitress was annoying, coming over when we didn't need her before we got the food, but nowhere to be found when we needed refills or an extra fork because mine fell on the floor. I was hoping for the best when we got here but everything was just not good. I would never come back.

  5. Based on the reviews, I was bracing myself for a disappointing meal, but I was actually thrilled with my food. I ordered the bbq sampler platter which consisted of 2 baby back ribs, 2 St. Louis style ribs, 2 bbq chicken wings, one slice of brisket, chopped pulled pork and 2 sides. For your sides, you can choose steamed vegetables, creamed spinach, fries, Mac and cheese, onion rings and many more! I chose the Mac and cheese and the steamed vegetables – both were had a garlic flavor which was a big +. My ribs had a nice seasoning and was not too dry nor too wet. Perfect enough to add one of the sauces. Although the sauces weren't my favorite,  they were at least decent enough for me to want to use. I liked the sweet habanero one for the ribs and chicken and the vinegar sauce for the pulled pork. The platter is $27, but is good enough for 2 or 3 meals!

I see from yelp that this place is a hit or miss. So I will update my review the next time I come. I may change my mind about this restaurant.

  6. After much debate on where to get Sunday brunch, my friend and I decided to give SuzyQue's a chance especially since we got pretty good Groupon deal. We drove in and it was pretty early but there was another family here eating. The servers, contrary to some of the reviews here, we're quite attentive and Suzy stopped by to give us some suggestions and whipped up an amazing warm Apple Cider & Pecan Pie Whisky to start things up!

We ordered two combo platters and boy did they have a lot! I don't think I will order the combo again since some were better than others but still a great meal. Favorites include the pork, brisket, and wings. The ribs were alright but I feel I have had better. The sides were to die for: creamed spinach and sweet potato fries with corn bread? Need I say more? I also think the sauces were cute and really enjoyed the darker, sweet sauce as well as the spicy vinegar based sauces. Brings out the flavor without overwhelming the BBQ & rub.

I do plan on returning and ordering one of the particular BBQ dishes I liked and trying out more of Suzy's concoctions!

  7. I would not recommend that they compete in any reputable BBQ competitions, but it's not bad for NJ.  The meats have a light smokey flavor and for the most part are cooked properly.  I think what is missing is a good rub and a long low & slow approach to the cooking.   I had the ribs, which were decent and plentiful for the price.  My wife had the brisket, which was tender and had a decent flavor.  As i said above though,  the brisket was missing that killer bark you see when made by a true pit master.   Excellent BBQ does not need a sauce, but this is not the case here.  Luckily, they have 4 different regional BBW sauces to choose from.  One standout here though is their Mac & Cheese, which was incredible.  It was creamy and a perfect blend of different cheeses.   My wife and I made the tragic mistake of sharing this side, which won't happen again.  In our experience (two visits), the service and staff was friendly and attentive unlike other reviews.  Bottom line is that this place will be on rotation, but if I left NJ, their food would certainly not be missed.

  8. Came here with a friend who had a groupon. I had beef short ribs, but it was actually a huge long rib. Very intense. The flavor and the sauce was on the average side. My sides were potato salad and creamed spinach. Both were really good. Drinks were average; nothing special. Atmosphere was cool, and service was really good. I don't have any complaints. I would definitely come back if  I am in the area.
