  1. First time visitor and definitely a different type place. But I can assure you that you will not be disappointed if your in a mood for burgers and a different twist on fries.
The pulled pork fries with cheeses. It's worth the trip to enjoy. With it I had the burger with fried onions and mushrooms. Burger cooked to a perfectly medium well. They take pride in what they doing.
Sitting on the corner. Inside is nothing to brad about either. About ten seats at the counter and a table for 4. And a lot of take out.
Two friendly guys with a dream that they making it happen. They about to get a second one going as well. Good luck guys.
If you in the mood for a little fat and grease. Try them out.
Did I tell you that everything is fresh daily. Nothing frozen or out the can. Great work loaded burgers.

  2. Although relatively expensive–burger, pulled pork or brisket plus fries will all be about $11–the quality, as noted by the Star Ledger food critic, is very high. Be aware that they do not offer lettuce or tomatoes.

Those wishing to save $2-3 but still clearly exceed the quality level of a diner or Wendys should get their pork or brisket at Blue Bayou in Clark and their burgers at 5 Guys in Westfield or Mooyah in Garwood.

  3. Love local joints like this.

We happen to stop here on our way home from relatives in NJ. This is a great laid back place to get some casual bbq, burgers, and fries.

We ordered a burger, and a pulled pork french fry with cheese. I wish there was cheese sauce, and not just melted shredded cheese, but..
The meat was really good! Everything was enjoyable, as well as the sides. And we thought the portions were reasonable too. French fries were cooked just right! I never put pulled pork on my fries, but they had the right idea doing so!

I will say, do not come here if you are trying to count calories….

  4. I came here with my 5 coworkers to celebrate my exemplary effort for 2013. They also came because I offered to pay (my bonus was bigger than theirs). We got there at a good time, we were the first ones there for lunch.

My coworkers noticed and appreciated that the guy wore latex glove when he handled the ball of burger (raw). I didn't really care because it's gonna be on the hot flat top. I'm more mindful when for him to wash his hands before the burgers are dressed. He did wash his hand often which is good to see.

I ordered my burger with taylor ham and muenster cheese and got my fries loaded with pull pork. I should have gotten bacon instead of the T Ham. When we entered the dude was preparing the bacon for the day. I washed it down with Mexican coke. My coworkers had their burgers with avocado and all sorts of ways that I didn't care about so I didn't take a pic of it. I liked that there wasn't lettuce or tomatoes to dilute the greasiness.

The pulled pork fries is a meal on it's own. I shared that and another coworker shared her side of fries too.
I didn't like that after he shaped the burger meat he smashed it squeezing the juices out. The burger was still juicy and I think it's made fresh. I hope so anyways. That's a lot of work for a burger under $10.

Another plus was the exhaust system. Our jackets did not smell like grease, bacon, or gluttonous shame.

  5. I hate when I read reviews and think "Ah yeah; I'm all about that place"! I'd say 8 of 10 times (when I try places like this) I leave disappointed and Loaded is no exception.

Atmosphere: This place is pretty divey. It's a counter with about 8 to 10 stools and three window "booths" that's it. There were two wet floor signs and a cardboard pathway to the Order/Pay Here area on the floor. The walls need some fresh paint. I could go on and on here…but I won't.

Crowd: Aside from the "booths" the counter was filled and remained filled the duration of my stay. All male; ages ranged from 20's to 60's.

Menu: Menu is straight forward when they have product. I walked in at 12:30 and they had lines through the Pulled Pork and Fried Chicken (good thing I wanted the burger)….the only other entree item is the brisket. As I was leaving though the pulled pork was ready and back on the menu. I haven't tried it so I can not confirm but I saw one of the employees pulling it out of a industry style crock pot which leads me to believe they aren't smoking anything (I.E. not true BBQ). The also have fries a "side or a "basket" with a choice of different seasonings (more on the fries later).

Staff: Staff was very friendly although seemingly overwhelmed. Ordering food was quick, food arrived quickly, paying took a while.

    Food:

Fries: The moment of truth…..Fries arrived before the burger (they seem to do that for every one). The fries are awesome and a hell of a bargain. I thought they sent me the basket of fries but it was indeed the "side" of fries it was a crazy huge portion for $1.50 WHAT?!?!?! They have that boardwalk quality with the thicker cut with out being "Thick Cut" and some skin on. I ordered mine spicy and there was a mild heat kick…I was fine it might be a (very) little too much for some. I enjoyed these with the "special sauce" (ketchup, mayo, and whole grain mustard).

Burger: On to the burger: I ordered a loaded burger ($8.50) which gives you choice of two toppings and a cheese selection. I order a medium burger with pork belly, sauteed mushrooms, and munster. First thing I notice is the "pork belly" is just a really thick cut of bacon and due to the fact they burnt the "belly" on the griddle no longer has that smooth mouth feel that p.b. has when cooked properly. Also burnt were the "sauteed" mushrooms?!?!?! I couldn't distinguish the cheese so I wouldn't put too much thought into it.

    The burger itself?!?!?!?

#1: They didn't let the burger rest. I took one bite and all the juices came pouring out. I get they're busy and they need to turn out product quickly but this oversight could have single handedly killed the flavor…except…..
#2: The patty is un/under seasoned. One of my biggest pet peeves. I took a lone bite of the meat and it sadly didn't taste like much of anything.

Based on burger alone I don't have to come back….ever….the fries….well they were pretty damn good…..

  6. Our expectations of Loaded Burger were pretty high.  After reading some really positive reviews nearly a year ago, we tried to go on a Saturday night only to find out that they had literally just sold their last burger to the customer in front of us. "Wow" we thought, "this place must be crazy busy!"

We finally made it back, this time on a Saturday afternoon at 1:50pm.  We found that parking was limited but we were determined to fill out starving tummies with some deliciousness.  Boy were we hungry!  We walked in to find that all seats were taken, and a few people in front of us were waiting for an order.

The service was a bit slow, but it was understandable and we waited a few minutes before placing our order.  We ordered 2 burgers (a basic cheddar burger for me and a loaded burger with onions, taylor ham and pepper jack cheese)  for him and a basket of fries with pulled pork… along with two classic cokes in glass bottles.

After a minute or two a few seats opened up at the counter and we grabbed them.  While the place is small, the turnover is pretty fast.  By the time your food is ready, you can assume a seat will open up.

    The good:
    1) The food is pretty good here. Portions are large, and the fries came out well before the burgers so we were able to satiate our appetites while waiting for the handmade burgers to cook.
    2) The owner/cook is super nice, and that adds to the ambiance of the restaurant.  When he was done cooking he checked in on us to make sure we liked the food, and many of the patrons knew him by name.  Gotta love a place like that.
    3) The menu is simple, meaning you know that whatever you get, it's going to be fresh and yummy.

    The Bad:
    1) The place is small and cramped.  On the bright side, they're looking to move in the near future.
    2) After serving a few people after us, we heard that there were only 7 burgers left to cook.  Since storage is limited, their quantities are limited.  Again, this means you know you're getting fresh food, but it also means that they were practically sold out of burgers before the dinner time crowd on a Saturday night.

I was told that you can follow all of their updates via social media (Facebook and Twitter), so keep an eye out for a big move in the (hopefully) near future.  And while you're waiting for that to happen, give them a try at their current location. My only reco is that you go early and you arrive hungry.

  7. My heart is broken.  Have you read my last review of Loaded?  The place was Cadillac of fried chicken, burgers, and delicious, artery clogging sides (candied bacon with mac & cheese!).  Now – oof.

I'm still not convinced ownership  is the same.  If yes, the crew we first met has stepped back and let less quality-conscious employees take reign.

Waffles (as in chicken and waffles) are gone.

Absolutely nothing fruit or veggie available – read, no lettuce or tomato for burgers.  Onions (raw or fried) and fried shallots only.

Everything is an upcharge.  Cheese and other burger toppings, fry seasonings.

Those fries!  Plain is great.  They're salty and delicious.  Do not waste your $$$ on seasonings.  The seasoned fries had no taste other than sweet.  Spicy fries were sweet with only the tiniest hint of spice.

Bottles of BBQ and homemade honey mustard no longer litter tables and counter tops.  Now just one lone bottle of each.  Don't worry if one's running low, the counter staff will ignore it all.  Ketchup available – in packets.

The new expanded seating is great.  Too bad it comes at a time when crowds are waning… And I think I know why.

  8. Sometimes food trumps all and the rest really doesn't matter.  This was my first trip into the much hyped Loaded Burgers, even though I moved to town almost a year ago, fail… I love me a properly done burger and Loaded is doing it right on all counts!  I had a medium rare burger with cheddar, bacon and mushrooms.  The burger was perfectly cooked and something I rarely find in a burger joint was that it was well seasoned.  The burger had a nice crust of salt and pepper and inside was pink and juicy, bravo!  The bacon was a nice thick cut and perfectly matched with the mushrooms.  And to top it all off the fries were excellent, crispy and hot!

The other aspects of the restaurant could use some work such as customer service, cleanliness, and overall appearance, but who cares when your burger is so good and I can walk to you!
