When I recruited my GF to my side of the coast, I was excited to show her all the amazing cuisines that the San Francisco Bay Area has to offer. Embarrassingly, we have yet to find really good BBQ out here. Decent BBQ, but nothing mind blowing. Not to say there aren't great BBQ spots in the Bay, just haven't found any that suited our tastes. So of course, on our visits back to New Jersey, she couldn't wait to take me to her favorite BBQ joint. She boasts tender meat and spicy sauce that's sweet but not excessively sweet. I must say, I was not disappointed. This BBQ spot is nestled in the corner of a small and smoky parking lot…smoky for good reason though. A big, old sign points out the otherwise easily missed location. Back to the food: The meat is pretty good, but the sides are less than memorable…but that's better than being memorably bad, right? The sauce was great. We ordered half a gallon of it to take back to Cali with us. Again, not too sweet, spicy as requested, and a nice kick of extra mustard.
Man I had no clue the food coming out of this place would be that good.
How the hell did I end up here, that is a very good question. So were driving to Atlantic City and were picking up a common friend on our way. Having missed lunch we wanted to grab something quick before our ride to AC. One of my friends suggested this place.
This place is old and definitely not at all upscale, having said that food here was awesome. We walk in they have a TV playing some old movie and guy inside selling some music cd's(funny set up).
There was this long ass line but we decided to wait for food. Apart from selling ribs they do sell other variety of food too but everybody was waiting in the line for those dead awesome pork ribs. They take good amount of time to make those juicy ribs. One can choose from mild or extra spicy sauce which they use to coat the ribs with. Ribs with two sides was just a $10 dollars , I had the potato salad and yams as sides. That was a lot of food for 10 bucks. They do sell their famous in house spicy sauce in small containers for 5 bucks.
Definitely a place to stop by if one loves BBQ ribs.
Everyone says When did Mcdonalds start making BBQ that always makes me laugh ..i say Rib-B-Que ..remember that??
first the place is not the most desirable place its a hole in the wall ..its a dive bbq spot if there is a such thing. Anyone who lives in the neighborhood knows the smell of the this place it lures you in.
Its run by Caribbeans mainly Jamaicans they put some love inside of these ribs.I have named it "all that goodness" but seriously they are really good usually i have ribs its "Dry' tasteless at other places but these pork ribs meat is so tender best BBQ I ever had
Entering this place there is a sign that indicates the ATM offers 5.00 bills also there is a guy selling DVDs in side he even have "AVENGERS".
Now you walk up the guy that serves the food is similar to the Soup Nazi but he is Jamaican with a heavy Accent. No need to fret because the food is worth it.
Being in there it was packed at 7pm. conversation went like this
McDonalds BBQ Rib Guy: What is everyone Waiting for!
Crowd: RIBS
McDonalds BBQ Rib Guy: How many you want
Couple of Guys in Front of Me: 1 whole SLAB
McDonald's BBQ RIB Guy: Damn! ME HAFA TA RUSH dem RIBS ehh?
Yup yup everyone was eager and happy to wait for the ribs 45mins to an hour ..So I was with a fellow yelper we ordered 3 dinners which is 10.00 each ..comes with Ribs and two sides I got the Mac and cheese, I'm in love with the Potato salad, Friend got the Same rib dinner with Yams and potato salad. The only thing It seems to always happen they forget Corn bread which is superb, if you don't ask for it they will never remember to add to your bag of food
Pork Ribs are so tender falling off the bone then the Sauce spicy or mild. I always go for SPICY I'm not sure what they put in it (mustard?) but you can buy it also so when ever where having a BBQ we always get the gallon for 10.00
